I actually started working on some kakashi hokage headcanons a while ago, so you made the perfect request ^.^ Here is the first chapter of something I have been working on. Sorry itâs not that interesting yet :/
Kakashi leaned back in his chair and stared up at the ceiling. He closed his eyes and let out a long, heavy breath.
No matter how early I start on paperwork or how many hours I spend doing it, the pile just seems to keep growing, the newly-chosen rokudaime thought to himself. Is this really what my predecessors spent most of their time doing every day?
The hokage sat up and stared at the stack in front of him, internally groaning at the sight. He propped his elbows up onto his desk and rested his head in his hands.
Any S-Rank mission is better than doing this for another minute, he thought.
Kakashi never wanted to become the hokage. The Fourth Shinobi World War ended a couple of months ago, and the five great nations have been seeing peace they havenât experienced for centuries. All the ninja wanted to do was relax for a while, because the war brought him many surprises he never saw coming. Who knew that he would see his dead sensei again after over a decade? Or that his thought-to-be dead best friend was actually alive his whole life and one of the causes of the war? Or that he would lose the beloved sharingan that helped him receive fame as the copy ninja? However, even all of this was easier for Kakashi to wrap his mind around than the fact that he was now one of the leaders of the five shinobi countries - the Fire Nation, nonetheless.
He really, really did not want this job. In fact, he objected so many times he thought it was a possibility that they would let him off the hook. In the end, the village elders won the debate and there was nothing the grey-haired man could really do about it. Since Tsunade took a lot of damage from the war, everyone saw it best that the village found a new leader to guide them through the coming years. Although he became the hero of the war, Naruto was not yet ready to take on the role of hokage, so when the position opened up, the villagers immediately turned to the best option there was.
It seemed that Kakashi was the only person who didnât think that he was suitable for the trade, but he ended up accepting the role and quickly began where his predecessor left off. Even though he didnât want the position, the new hokage still took the job seriously because he was still a ninja, and a ninjaâs job was to tend to his or her villageâs needs. He tried his best every day no matter how challenging things got.
Well, I guess it does no good for anyone if I just continue to sit here.
The former copy ninja lifted his head from his hands and picked up one of the pens next to him. He grabbed another stack of papers and continued to slave away. He spent about 30 more minutes working until he heard a knock on the door.
The doorknob turned and in walked a very familiar, pink-haired kunoichi.
Kakashi looked up. âOh, hello, Sakura.â
âPlease, stop calling me that,â the rokudaime protested.
The woman continued to walk closer, but continued on with her statement. âThereâs been a request from one of the smaller villages for some help with a few tasks. It doesnât seem like anything too big and I was thinking we could send one of the new genin teams out there to take care of it.â
The grey-haired man nodded, continuing to bulldoze through the pile of work in front of him. âThat sounds fine. Make sure to run it by Shikamaru so he can choose out the most suitable team for the mission.â
âOkay, Iâll get right on that,â the kunoichi said while turning around to leave.
As Sakura walked away, Kakashi let out a huge groan of frustration. âWhy doesnât this ever end?!â
The medic nin stopped and turned, chuckling at the exclamation. âYou sound just like Tsunade-sama when she was in that chair.â
âI donât understand how she ever did this for hours on end. There are so many requests and documents that I donât even know where to begin! Now I understand why she was never in a good mood,â the hokage joked.
Sakura laughed. âYouâll get the hang of it eventually. It seemed to get easier for her as time went by.â
The grey-haired man scoffed. âThe difference between Tsunade-sama and me is that she was well-suited for the job and Iâm not. I donât know why I ever accepted this role.â
Kakashi interrupted her a second time. âAgain, please stop calling me that.â
Sakura sighed. âKakashi-sensei, youâre doing fine. It didnât come easily for her either. It just takes some getting used to.â
âI donât know about that,â the ninja insisted.
The kunoichi shook her head and turned around, heading for the door once again. âWell, I need to go run this mission by Shikamaru. See you later, Kakashi-sama.â
The rokudaime rolled his eyes at the formality and took a pause from writing.
This is going to be a long couple of years.
