Being ruthless and sadistic is a part of Nega's character but the biggest irony of his character is that he hates Eggman so much that he loops back into being very similar to his ancestor. Even in the evil nature of their own schemes despite their differing ways to achieve their objectives. Eggman and Eggman Nega are pure evil and irredeemable and it's possible to make these pure evil villains coexist without undermining Eggman's inherent cruelty since his heart is rotten to the core and he is the original pure evil egghead.
