inspired by the latest well there's your problem episode
Did you know that JRR Tolkien wrote an unpublished epilogue to Lord of the Rings? It's achingly, beautifully wistful in the way that only Lord of the Rings is. I revisited it recently because I'm guesting on my friends' LOTR podcast, and THAT reminded me that I drew a comic of the epilogue back in 2021 (all text is entirely canon). Anyway I thought folks on this website might enjoy it!
think about the first movie you remember seeing in a movie theater. not necessarily the first one you saw in a theater, but your oldest memory of seeing one in a theater. what genre of movie was it?
comedy/dark comedy/satire
action
sci-fi
fantasy
horror/thriller
romance/romantasy
historical/period drama/biopic/documentary/historical fiction/political
drama/tragedy
adventure/epic/superhero
mystery/crime
i have a memory of a film but am not sure what film it is (describe?)
i have never seen a film in the theater/cinema in person
for the purpose of this poll, things like "animation" and "musical" are not options here because those are mediums and can be any genre! i also sort of felt like inclusion of either of these would result in them dominating this particular poll. so instead, think of which of these selections MOST sums up the movie you're thinking of. it's okay if multiple of these apply, but just pick the one that would sum it up best.
also, you obviously don't have to, but please consider leaving the movie and the year it was released in the tags! i am probably going to make a letterboxd list of everyone's responses, especially if this spreads around enough. check back for the link!
fun fact: debates about if being transgender is a choice or not are irrelevant, because the fundamental truth is of bodily autonomy - a right that should never be seen as conditional or requiring a suitable, immutable condition.
people who are trans deserve the right to transition, not because it’s a medical treatment or because dysphoria can be classified as a mental illness but because we’re human beings who should be allowed to do whatever the fuck we want to our own bodies! this is a basic human right!
in conversation about white people who go to Japan and expect their knowledge of anime to culturally carry them, I was once posed with “it’s like if there was a Japanese guy who was obsessed with spongebob and came over here and thought he could get by just communicating in spongebob quotes.” This is a false equivalence because if such a man existed we would crown him king. We’d love him. Americans would fucking love that. sometimes I get sad that this isn’t a real guy I can invite to a party.
$3696 CND and 91 backers might seem like random figures, but what this means is that with 5 days left still, we are now beating both the funding amount AND the number of backers from my first Kickstarter!
This was probably the one thing I wanted to accomplish more than anything with this new Kickstarter. I never took matching my first KS as granted, I just personally really wanted to see some kind of growth. Some kind of proof that I was moving forward in the right direction. Hopefully we hit 3-digit backers!
So yeah, more than anything, thank you all.
The science fiction adventures of a wandering mercenary.
Hey satisfy my random curiosity
How often do you use an elevator?
Daily
A few times a week
A few times a month
Maybe a few times a year
Nuance/bald/trapped in a void before the invention of electricity
Okay, first off I was not expecting this to breach containment of my immediate following so that’s pretty cool
Secondly it’s hilarious seeing the tags go from “how the fuck is a few times a year winning I use one every day” to “I haven’t seen an elevator since 1962” every few reblogs
If you see the quote "I refuse to share my body with a man who wouldn't defend it politically" or any variation of it floating around the internet — it was Kat Blaque who originally said it and she would really appreciate it if people gave her proper credit for it but it's gone viral on a lot of different platforms and most of the people sharing it don't know it's from her or choose not to credit her on purpose.
Like I just know terfs are going to be parroting it pretending it wasn't said by a black trans woman about herself & her life.
this poll is made out of curiosity by me and my friends, we want to reach as many people as possible so please vote & reblog if you can:)
Do you know Asterix & Obelix?

Wattpad: pay me monthly 🤩 and we will remove ads for you. also free offline stories I guess as long as you keep paying me. but we have censorship so keep your kinks to yourself. what we don’t have is tagging systems, so good luck trying to find what you want or avoiding what you don’t want to read lol
meanwhile AO3: so everything is free in our house. read whatever you want offline. also no ads. no capitalism. no censorship. be as wild as you want with your fics. also we have tagging systems so you can search or avoid any specific tags, pairings, relationships or characters. whatever you want.
I’m sorry but if you’re still complaining, you don’t realize how good you have it with AO3, one of the last platforms on the internet that is free of capitalism and censorship. just artists and writers creating and sharing their works with the community for free and for fun. just authentic love between artists, their works, characters, stories and audiences.
hi everyone bringing back a "lets all thank ao3 volunteers"
the Great AO3 Shutdown sucks but its not the volunteers fault. thank you fellow readers for your hard work. signed, a survivor of the 2023 hacker shutdown

Leonid Pasternak (Ukrainian, 1862–1945) - The Torments of Creative Work
oh leonid, we're really in it now
Leonid, you really understand it.
Save me Leonid, from my empty Word document
Leonid what should I do about the emails
Babe are you okay? you reblogged Leonid Pasternak's Torments of Creative Work again
Leonid Pasternak is the best! My favorite of his is The Night Before The Exam (1895).
My man Leonid continues to be relatable
thank you ao3 for being an archive and not an algorithm. thank you for letting me like things without consequences, thank you for being free with no ads, thank you for having lawyers to defend our freedom of speech. thank you tag wranglers. thank you to all authors and thank you ao3
