like this post on my insta!!: @borksicle and @kale_idosdoodle
murch is the best character in the game and iām one of the three people that still like him⦠splatoon fandom pls stop drawing the idols they are BORING and have TWO EYES šļø
if u couldnāt tell i love him and harmony too ig
they would be besties and whoever says otherwise is wrong. if spyke got annie sea anemone then murch got harmony sea anemone š¤
in this world, the worst thing you can do is make someone think theyāre not wanted or loved.
they made it past hugs!!!!
i love drawing them aaaghhh
he wants her so bad
iāve actually never drawn ship art of them, mainly cuz iām secretly still a bunny doll shipper but donāt tell anyone,,, i am easily swayed
i love character designs that are literally just like... people. Like, the designs themselves don't have to try so hard to be unique, cuz they just are if that makes sense.
Only example I can think of right now in my mind are the Mouthwashing characters. They are all very distinct from each other, but they are literally just people in uniform. But they all choose to express themselves differently despite having similar dress codes, allowing them to be unique while still having that similarity.
Daisuke and Swansea aren't wearing the blue jacket that the other cast members are wearing, with Daisuke wearing a flowery jacket instead. Anya is wearing a multicolored sweater instead of the yellow Pony Express shirt. Jimmy also chooses a plain long sleeved white shirt instead of the yellow one, and has a short sleeved blue jacket instead of a long-sleeved one. Curly, the captain, is the only one wearing the full set of uniform all together, nothing absent or replaced, yellow shirt, long sleeve blue jacket, and blue jeans with a belt.
Getting to my point, the designs aren't trying too hard to be.. different?? For lack of a better word? Swansea is just a cranky old man. Daisuke is your typical surfer dude. Sometimes I feel like character designs rely too much on character self expression to communicate how a person acts or what they like. They didn't make Jimmy (the bad guy) some like crazy looking guy with tattoos and scars and what not. They're just... people. I'm explaining this bad but idc if nobody else understands this is for me anyway keke
take 2 (oh tumblr you're so!! bdnbh n fdjknjdbshfdjn)
hey guys I spent like 40 minutes making an art progress post for my birthday illustration HAHAHA but tumblr just GOT RID of IT HAHAHA!!! Anyway this will be short and sweet and if I care I'll edit it later šš
my sketch was really bad looking at it now ngl but I'm really happy with it,,, I had a habit of only caring that what I envisioned in my head got down onto the canvas, so if I really struggled with drawing the pose from my reference, I would outline the ref and go from there. Which isn't bad for learning purposes? But I wasn't exactly learning from it, it was more of an easy out. I want to start planning every little bit of my art process from now. Trying with the anatomy, posing, gesturing, line art, everything!! That's why I like this illustration because the only thing I outlined was the hand kekeke
The line art is my favorite part of this drawing hehe. I think I did a good job of transforming my sketch. I used a reference for the sweater folds and oh boy it came out nice.
After the line art tho, I had no idea what I wanted to do. It was 10 oclock at night two hours before my birthday was technically over so I was trying so hard to lock in š I love the look of the filled in grey on a white bg tho it gives off such neat animatic vibes im in love. I added grayscale shading just to see what it would look like and I ended up keeping it hehe
ALSO small rant but OH my gosh one of my favorite webtoons "Our Secret Alliance" does this incredibly cute thing that Im ABSOLUTELY in love with... The author doesn't draw the characters with different eye colors, just single black eyes with a white highlight. But, whenever there's a touching or sweet moment, a small hint of pink or light grey is added to the bottom of the eyes and its like AAAhAHAH I LOVE ITT IT ADDS SUCH CLEAR EMOTION IN SUCH A SIMPLE ADDITION ššššš
look at this... I eat this up
I played around with a lot of gradients to try to keep it simple, but I did want to add color so I ended up scrapping the left one. The colors on the right are drastically different than the final one btw keke
The hair came out really well compared to how it usually ends up cuz oh my gosh I have had like a 6 year long battle with hair rendering and the war never stops
the skin wasn't too hard. I sometimes struggle with it cuz like it ends up being so simple that I'm like ??? what's goin on,,, all I do is at the blush and lip color then bam
I do wish I rendered the cake a bit more lol it stands out a little now that I'm looking at it.
I love how this came out... it didn't take that long to do in retrospect but it was a slow grueling process to me keke
here's the final speed paint! and the reason the sketch process isn't there is because I accidentally deleted the other canvas it was on after transferring to a new canvas :}
first drawing w/ new phone :D - art process
I recently got a new phone (Galaxy Z Fold 5, ty dad) and I decided that the best way to get me out of my funk would be to just, draw something! Ofc I drew Rosalina I've been her biggest fan since I was like in 4th grade... I even drew her for an art competition at my school (got disqualified cuz we weren't allowed to draw copyrighted characters š)
I started this on 10/22/25 and finished 10/26/25. Ibispaint says it took 14 hours but take that with a grain of salt...
I knew I wanted to do a full body drawing since I've literally only been making headshots until now lol. I used a pose reference from pinterest (I initially traced the hands cuz i could Not be bothered but in the end I just drew them myself cuz they were looking really bad)
One thing I'm proud of is that I didn't color pick from any other fanart or official image. I do that a lot cuz other people usually have much better color choices than me. I obviously played with filters and stuff (the anime filter on ibis is the greatest thing i swear) but I'm really happy with how they came out.
Honestly the rendering went really really really well. There were many times that I felt stuck but I just kept going. I think the trick to feeling better about your rendering is to make your sketch borderline incomprehensible then you'll be forced to make sense of it by blocking in colors. The easiest things to render were somehow the hair, skin, and lower part of the dress?? I don't know how I managed to even accomplish this tbh. It just flowed so naturally and I didn't spend much time on either one.
The longest parts were probably the crown, earrings, jewels, and the sleeves. Oh my goodness the sleeves were so annoying.. I kept staring at my rosalina amiibo for reference too š„
This is the finished rendering!! This is where I had to tackle the thing I was dreading the whole time. I really don't like backgrounds. I initially really wanted to add like, a cool swirling magic effect around her? My attempts came out great conceptually, but I wasn't happy with the composition so I scrapped it. I just drew lumas instead. Their shape was really really hard for me to draw right for some reason, like I understand they are just teardrops with lil stub limbs but I was short-circuiting so I just outlined an official render keke.
I rendered the lumas, added some stars, and outlined all the drawings in white. I finished with some subtle blurring, noise, and chromatic aberration.
Overall, I really loved making this! I can't remember the last time I enjoyed making a full body and rendering it, so this was refreshing to do.
Here's the final speedpaint:
LET'S DO THIS >:0
Hi everybody!! I have been wanting to set personal goals for my life lately, and the best way to go about it is to take things one step at a time. So I thought, why not start an art blog to keep track of my progress and have every little bit of my creative life in one place as a first step to creating a sense of personal accomplishment? There will be 4 things I will keep in mind whenever I post here.
I don't know exactly how Tumblr works yet, but posting with the intention of increasing numbers or follower counts should not be a priority. I want my motivation for posting here to be for my own personal growth -- a way to keep accountability for myself and document my art journey. The reason this account is public and not private is so that I can have some sense of: "Oh! I need to update my tumblr page. Let's see what I can do.""
I want this blog to be an area where I break out of my usual comfort zones, study art fundamentals, and explore different techniques and ideas. I have a habit of only drawing what I am familiar with and only going about it in the same manner every time. I want to take into account other artistic methods and approaches that I have observed and have been inspired by.
Consistency is something I struggle with a lot. This blog will not only help my self-discipline but also allow me to push myself to diligently put out art on a regular basis. I want to give myself deadlines/expectations and follow them. Along the way, the goal is for me to learn how to plan and organize my time so I can accomplish all my upcoming tasks (especially priorities that come before art). With my first year of college underway, this is a great way to practice time management and efficiency.
I want to have fun!!! The way I worded this sounds really structured and robotic (at least to me) but I genuinely have such a love for creation and I want to pursue the talent God's given me. I know with the rise of artificial intelligence, art is slowly losing all its inherent value -- value that lies in true human emotion, authenticity, and expression. But honestly? I don't care about that. I am still a human being, and I still want to create. I have ideas and stories in my head that I want to put on paper. I want to learn to perfect this craft that I want to regain my passion for. So many people in my life see me as the "art girl"... and though I want to do so much more with my life beyond art, this blog is just one of the ways I want to learn to just be. I want to still be known as creative -- as someone who had the motivation to try, and who was successful. I hope this blog will help me in my other areas of life.
Just for future reference for myself, I'm gonna make mistakes. I'm gonna miss deadlines I've set for myself. I'm gonna take loooong breaks due to art block, lack of motivation, or poor time management. I'm not always going to love what I put out, and I'm not always going to want to continue doing this blog. I say this because I know me. But I still, for what it's worth, want to try. So don't give up!!!
I don't know who will follow this blog or keep me company during this art journey but I thank you for taking the time to be here and read this! I hope me in the future will remember everything I stated.
