So, I was supposed to express my thoughts on Fenty Beauty a couple of weeks ago. My apologies for being so late! LIFE HAPPENS! Iâve been super busy with working, wifinâ, and parenting; however I did manage to squeeze in a trip to Sephora! If you havenât heard by now (then you must seriously be living under a rock), Rihanna recently revealed her new beauty line, Fenty Beauty in September. 40 shades. Match Sticks. Blotting paper. TROPHY WIFE. KILLAWATT. Okay, let me just slow it down a bit and take you through my experience.
About two weeks ago, I happily ventured into Sephora, itching to get my hands on a foundation shade that was true to my skintone. I wasnât sure what shade I was in the beginning, but I did have a little bit of guidance. My mom actually snagged a few products before I was able to and gave me a brief review before I made my trip to Sephora. With mommy matched, I knew I could not be too far away from matching to a similar shade. (Note: Let me also just add that my grandmother also had gotten matched before me and was the same shade as my mom). So I get there and I find my shade but they are SOLD OUT. When I say sold out, I mean every thing is pretty much gone. No foundation available in half of the shades, no highlighters, barely any matchsticks. My spirit was crushed but I am also stanning for Rihanna at the same time because I am figuring out at this very moment that she has created an empire! WOC (women-of-color) have been looking, searching for years to find a shade of foundation that is true to their skin. Something that looks natural and doesnât give you that dry, ghostly finish at the end of applying your makeup. ALL women of beautiful variations of chocolate skin go through this and it seems that she has finally created somethingâŚfor us.
My trip ended up not being a blank one after all. I was able to snag two matchsticks, TRUFFLE + BLONDE and a makeup sponge for application. (Update: My mom was able to find my foundation shade at a Sephora location near her and bought/shipped to me!) Iâve been able to wear Fenty Beauty on two different occasions and unfortunately forgot to record myself as I tried on the new products. I do have after pictures, though! I received rave reviews and have a few of my own. Fenty Beauty is very smooth on my skin, and it doesnât take much to get a full coverage. It doesnât take much to conceal (using the TRUFFLE matchstick), just one swipe of the stick! I believe the TRUFFLE matchstick is actually my favorite thing that I have purchased so far. I almost forget that I have it on! Amazing.
Rihanna, girl, thank you for creating something for the brown (all variation of shades) faces all over the world. Youâve given us a reason to smile, to feel beautiful, to be motivated about wearing makeup, to slay! Thanks for boosting the confidence of women everywhere! MASTERMIND.
