I came across this article, "The Top Ten Lessons Steve Jobs Taught Us" on Forbes this morning and thought it was important enough to share. It expresses many of the most valuable sentiments that he expressed in his 2005 commencement speech at Stanford, and takes advantage of hindsight in highlighting his contributions to the world.

I really like the recent trend in pictorial descriptions of history that I've noticed. This one that I came across on Mashable is particularly interesting as it describes the the evolution of web design. Its fascinating to think of how far we've come in such a short time, and to dream a little of where we'll be in just a few short years. Click on the image to see the full article & graphic.
The Prepaid Press is a highly reputable trade publication in the world of Prepaid products and Services. I'm excited to see wipit featured in this article.

I remember attending the CTIA show in March 2010 and being amazed by how quickly and competently HTC had risen to be a leader in the smartphone space. They've definitely kept up the pace with the HTC Thunderbolt 4G LTE on Verizon.
I really enjoyed this video and was impressed yet again.
A good friend sent me this article today, and I decided it was worth posting.
In this video interview, David Hornik of August Capital describes his recent investments into three payments companies including PayNearMe. PayNearMe is similar to my company wipit, in that we both seek to serve what I call the cash preferred consumer. More simply put, people who don't choose to use or don't have a credit card.
The Center For Financial Services Innovation (CFSI) reports that there are more than 42.2 million households in the US alone that are considered under-banked or un-banked. PayNearMe and wipit both seek to serve these customers who want to make online purchases from great e-retailers using cash.
Desktop e-commerce vs. Mobile e-commerce
Where PayNearMe and wipit differ, is that PayNearMe's solution is seemingly focused on sales through traditional desktop e-commerce websites. wipit on the other hand is a service focused on enabling the cash preferred customer to conduct mobile e-commerce purchases through smartphone apps. This is a trend that we are convinced is set to explode over the next two years.
Recently, Mary Meeker of Kleiner Perkins (KPCB) released research that stated mobile e-commerce would grow to rival current desktop e-commerce statistics at a more rapid pace than its predecessor. What is certain to me, is that the next round of mobile monetization will come from inventive and capable developers and entrepreneurs who recognize the opportunity that mobile e-commerce presents. The opportunity to cause massive disruption to seemingly established and unshakeable industries. Just think about it. What was the predominant travel agency prior to the Internet and companies such as Travelocity, Expedia, and Hotels.com? What was the music industry like before peer-to-peer, the iPod, or iTunes? Now, think about the opportunity your smartphone represents? Before it, how did you find a restaurant, get directions, stay in community, listen to music, find a great deal, or tell the world where you're at???
What is THE NEXT Billion Dollar Idea you might ask? I'd love to hear what your thoughts are on this question. But here at wipit, we believe it's going to have something to do with mobile e-commerce.
