The only thing he was currently doing was shoving his face full of the batch of cupcakes he picked up for himself at the bakery. It was his birthday, he was allowed to indulge in all the carbs and sweets that he wanted. He’d even bought candles and lit one to blow out before he dug into them. And he was possibly already halfway through the six that he bought…half an hour ago.
And then there’s a knock at the door and he’s sure there’s probably frosting halfway across his face, but he doesn’t have time to grab a napkin before he hops up and heads to the door. Should he cross his fingers for a hot UPS guy? Maybe. He’d use his birthday as an excuse to hit on him. But as soon as he opens the door he’s quick to find that there is definitely not a UPS guy there at all. Instead there’s Jackson with a damn bow on his head like an idiot and Danny can’t help the grin that spreads across his face instantly.
“I hate you so much. And me saying I’d bang the UPS guy does not mean that’s you.” He’s still grinning though when he yanks the bow off Jackson’s head and tugs him into a hug whether he liked it or not. It’d been way too long since he’d seen him, and he still wasn’t used to not having him around whenever he needed him.
[ sms ] i personally made sure they sent you a hot ups guy too
Last year, he actually sent Danny a present in the mail and his visit had been limited to a Skype call for a couple of hours. When he heard that there was no massive celebration party, Jackson knew he needed to personally step up his best friend’s birthday game. Of course, he visited that summer to try to make up for it.
He listens as Danny moves towards the door, a smug grin plastered on his face ready to go for when the door opens. He only grins wider when his best friend does, starting to laugh at his comment. Before he can get words in edgewise though, Danny’s pulling him into a hug and Jackson falls into him, returning the hug with a deep inhale. Maybe once upon a time he would have pushed away from so much affection, but it’s been over a month since his last visit now.
“Happy birthday, dude,” he mutters, pulling back and stepping inside. He looks around for a moment, as though trying to see if anything has changed, but turns back to Danny after a moment. “Should I have put on a UPS uniform to top it off? Then would I be bang-able?” He smirks, handing out the box in his hands finally. “Were you eating cake without me?”
