bri'ish food is nothing special but every time i walk into the local fish n chip place i ask for a medium and they hand me a parcel of vinegar soaked fries so thick i struggle to carry it home with two hands. they look me in the eye and know theyve given me enough potato to feed me for a week. and for what. like 4 quid. you gotta respect the quantity over quality approach of it sometimes.

Sometimes as a European you play an American game and even though you speak fluent English and culturally there's not too much different you can Tell you're missing some kind of cultural context
I had no fucking clue what a mormon was when I played the New Vegas DLCs
This post is not an invitation for you all to explain mormonism to me I am fine not knowing about this
I can't put this in tags like a normal person because apparently Tumblr no longer lets you do long tags which is dumb and I hate it but ok. Long time ago when I was but a wee 14 years old kid living in a sleepy town in Northern Ukraine, one day my bestie told me: hey, have you heard about this new English speaking club at the city library? They say it's run by two guys that came here on a mission all the way from America. And I was like: what mission? And she told me they were supposed to be Mormons. I didn't believe her. I was convinced she was fucking with me because at the time I didn't think that Mormons were real. I honestly thought they were fictional and only existed as a gag in South Park. And then a couple of days later those two missioners actually showed up to our English class to promote their little conversion club. Those poor men stood in front of a bunch of 14 years old and told us they were Mormon and several of my classmates said: wait, Mormon? Like in South Park?, and from their pained expressions you could clearly tell that it wasn't the first time they had been asked that here.

funny thing about anxiety is sometimes it kind of breaks your sense of danger. like i am known for repeatedly putting myself in situations that make my friends go "bro you couldve died. werent you scared?" and the answer is 👍 yjeah. i did it scared. i do everything scared. i didnt know that was the actual important kind of scary because i usually have to ignore my fears to function in society. it will happen again. watch out.
im reading discworld and im on the third book and i only just realized they arent arranged like this

pop health science is so annoying bc it'll be like "did you know? eating strawberries will give you mega cancer" and you're like pfft whatever begone influencer. but sometimes then you'll see a reasonably credible article like "Study Shows Possible Link Between Strawberries and Mega Cancer" and you're not usually the type to follow that kind of thing religiously but idk maybe you should consider not eating strawberries? but then there's another article saying "Strawberry/Mega Cancer Study Debunked" and it turns out the original study had a sample size of 3 and was funded by Big Blueberry, and strawberries may have a small connection to mega cancer but only if you are genetically predisposed to mega cancer and eat 50 strawberries every day. so you return to your strawberry eating life. but whenever you eat strawberries in public someone tells you about the mega cancer.
One big element of millenial adulthood is that when people hear the news that someone actually got a solid job in the field they got a degree in, people respond the same way as folks a generation ago used to respond to the news of someone having a baby after trying for years. Genuinely awed "holy shit no way, that's amazing, congratulations!" because that's some incredible, life-changing shit.
Nobody knows how you respond to the news of someone you know having a long-wanted baby, because nobody in their right mind is having kids on purpose.
i understand (on paper) why companies are anti-piracy but its funny when random individuals are also strongly anti-piracy. like how does it negatively affect your life if someone you know downloads a cracked torrent of sims 4. you dont work for EA. EA isnt gonna pay you for this. you lose nothing. its fine. chill out.
