@kankrimeu

one thing I’ve noticed about Nepeta is that because she likes shipping and roleplay, some fans project other fandom activities and interests onto her even though they’re not present in the text. for example, I’ve seen several people refer to Nepeta as a ‘weeaboo’, despite no mention of Nepeta having an interest in anime, mange or Japanese culture, if these things even have equivalents on Alternia. however, Nepeta is strongly linked to drinking tea, with her Sgrub planet based around this beverage and many of her possessions scattered around the meteor labs being teapots. this combined with the significant overlap between Homestuck fans and Doctor Who fans along with the original release of BBC Sherlock in the same month as Nepeta's introduction meaning this culture may be fresh in Hussie’s mind, means it may be more accurate to describe Nepeta as a ‘teaboo’,

@equiustria
May I suggest Dave and Nepeta somehow being de-fused and having to process not being one again?

An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
i just want to take a moment to point out that in the past i complained about how some fanfics would depict john reacting to trans stuff and this fic gets it exactly right. THIS is john egbert.
everything else about the fic is also great

OFFICAL BEFORUS ANCESTOR DESIGNS! P.1
Drawn and written by Andrew Hussie.
Aradia - The Rankmaid
Her title is synonymous with "rotten girl" which means fujoshi, because thats what she is. She's the original author of the "How To Draw Manga" book Caliborn uses to become a great artist. She is a member of the "Lost Weeaboos" and hangs out in the tree forts with Tavros doing weeaboo stuff.
Nepeta - The Muckrake
She's a journalist who specializes in celebrity gossip, especially the romantic kind. She pens a column about which well known troll is in which quadrant with who. Receives much gossip from certain highbloods.
Kanaya - The Gardener
Tends to the gardens of the higher castes, and sculpts topiary into shapes which foreshadow unfathomable future events in other universes. Nobody has any idea what she's doing with these bushes, but think she's cooking anyway.
Vriska - Lamplady Swansong
She was blinded in a horrible accident involving a karmic chain of events. Lamplady is a Nightingale reference, but she also carries a lamp because shes on night shift as a nurse. She doesnt need the light to see, it's for her patients. On Beforus, cerulean bloods used their psychic powers more empathically than on Alternia, and were prone to being healers. She got the nickname Swansong because her patients tend to die due to her terrible luck.
Equius - E%emplar Danklook
As an indigo blood he has to set a good example for his lessers. He's exemplary, a sexy model citizen, but has a secret life in the voids of society. Nobody knows what this means, and nobody wants to.
Feferi - Shepherd Constern
Called Shepherd Constern, or just The Constern for short, but is more formally known as Her Imperilous Consternation. Consternation is a title due to the great worry and concern she has for her lessers, which she and all her ruling predecessors must take great responsibility for. Her hair is shaped like Gl'bgolyb and random trolls get stuck in it but she doesn't notice. Shepherd is her formal title, which is 8 letters per the ancestor convention on both Beforus and Alternia. However the corresponding title for the Condesce was never revealed. It was actually Winnower Condesce, which means someone who thins the herd, as opposed to taking care of it. But the Condesce viewed this title as cringe, and made it illegal to call her that.

Meukri wedding, Kankri's in a dress in both versions because he's the prettiest princess
Randonly thinking about my boy Kankri, and what I think is really worth noting is that his silly/annoying jumping into people's conversations thing happens, as far as we know, to people who are prone to causing "several people maimed and/or dead" level dramas, like, no exaggeration, that's literally what happened.
We see it (or hear about it) with:
Meenah - very prone to violence for the sake of violence (literally stabbing Karkat on sight just because he looks like Kankri), tormented Damara until she had a breakdown, which lead to her [Meenah's], Rufioh and Horuss' deaths (including temporarily disabling Rufioh)
Cronus - prone to aggression (as he says he was trying to tone it all down) and harrasment.
Horuss - involved with the aforementiomed Damara-Rufioh-Horuss+Meenah drama
Rufioh - says Kankri does that to him, too; involved with the same drama as Horuss
The main outlier is Mituna, but Kankri only jumps in when Meenah is starting to raise her voice in anger and, as mentioned, she's a very violent person by nature, and regardless of whether he's in his right or not, Mituna was provoking her. Kankri deescalates the conflict by his usual bs, probably saving Mituna's ass.
That being said, when Mituna and Cronus are talking, Kankri does not appear, which implies he doesn't actually consider them a risk group, and the previous instances of him jumping in had more to do with Meenah being present.
Also, interestingly, the Mituna-Meenah convo is the only one we see him mediate for a unquestionably good reason and also succesfully (if by being a social disaster), while the rest of them he was jumping the gun a little. I'd argue it does show that his involvement in (potential) disputes is, in fact, needed, but he cannot properly judge when it's going to blow up and have casualties, and when it'll just be a small argument that'll come and go, so he goes for anything just in case.
I'd hazard two theories: 1) in the past he might have misjudged the entire Rufioh-related drama, and not involve himself, which he now is trying to overcompensate for [questionable, but possible, especially given the people we see him try to mediate between], and 2) him involving himself in most disputes at all times likely could have led to even worse miscommunication between the dancestors.
Bonus thought. I just realized for the most part he addresses Meenah, who is the actual reason behind the Rufioh-related drama, as she's the one who tormented Damara into a breakdown, so it's possible he perceives her as the most likely catalyst to another disaster.
God you and Meulin are so cute together
