THE BEST OF INDIA
On Turning 23...part two
The train down to London was smooth sailing, and once I got to the house, my father and I painted the town red (or should I say green) for St. Patricks day at our local pub, The Churchill Arms.
We celebrated that night in the infamous Churchill amongst (what felt like) hundreds of Irishmen, women, and those who wish they were.
At last came my actual birthday, March 18th! I started the day off right with getting my hair blown out and preparing for the tea party later that afternoon.
I wore this little number from Free People (I worked there as an intern, see here). Its a floaty dress I paired with a belt, thigh high suede boots, and a joie de vive.
This was my second time at the Sanderson Hotel. The first being another birthday for the exact same tea. Sadly, I had lost the photos to that event due to an evil iphone situation, but at least I was able to save these photos this time!
The Mad Hatter’s Afternoon is a magical event where all the afternoon tea details (from the menu to the dessert) are Alice themed. I particularly enjoyed this terracotta pot of pudding with honeycomb and real flowers on it!
We had champagne (of course) with our tea. Look at the little bugs and drink me bottle! Perfection!
Menus for the tea
As you can see, everything was picture perfect (especially the flatlays!) and delicious, what a fantastic time!
Happy birthday (to me)!

Turning 23
I am not a big birthday celebrator. I don’t like the stress that comes with party planning so I usually opt for a relaxing dinner or drinks. Compared to years before, I did quite a lot for celebracíon 2k16. I had a day out finished with dinner at at Michellin guide Korean Restaurant with Brian, went down to London and had afternoon tea with the parents, a concert at the O2, and a surprise cooking class with my dad.
The day Brian visited was a beautiful one. An ideal blue sky background only added to our walk to explore Bruntsfield. The flowers had started to bloom, and aided some great photo ops on the trip.
We walked about Bruntsfield, stopping by a local favourite, the Chocolate Tree for an ice cream. We both had almond chocolate chunk...it was DELICIOUS, 10/10 would recommend.
Hi, Brian
Ice cream feat. Swatch Brian gave me for Christmas
We discovered this old-fashioned tavern at the edge of the park, named “Ye Olde Golf Tavern” (a part of the meadows is a mini golf course, Bruntsfields Links). It looks wonderfully traditional pub that I will try when the weather gets more summery.
A few hours later, we went to Kim’s Mini Meals, a Korean restaurant that is famously known in Edinburgh as being one of the best restaurants at low cost. It is a little place near the university which opens usually around five (depending on the owner’s mood), has great food quality for price, and is very fast turnaround. Most importantly, it has been recommended to me by all my Korean friends and flatmates as the most authentic experience with Korean food. Neither Brian nor I have had tasted Korean cuisine before this, but I have to say, I will be back.
Free kimchi, appetizers (picked food), and pumpkin soup for starters. Around 10 pounds each for an entree.
My hot pot of spare ribs and red bean rice.
Although there is no reservations and they only take cash, I would say its worth going to.
That weekend, I packed up a bag and went down to London on St. Patrick’s day (the day before my birthday). I packed some essentials, jeans, black, thigh high suede boots, and a pop of colour.

I think I may have accidentally became vegan. I've cut out meat (usually do during term time) and now dairy (which is actually helping me loads, healthwise). IM EVEN EATING SALADS AND LOVING IT. Something that hasn't ever happened before.
I think this is because I realized that being vegan is: 1. Not that hard 2. Not expensive (with a little bit of planning) 3. Can be delicious with v. excellent recipes for every type of food
I haven't fully committed to this, it HAS been just three weeks, but if I feel good, and have a low impact on this planet, then I'll try to keep it up as long as I can, why not?
I made this for lunch in 10 minutes. For this rainbow salad (SUPER EASY & LOW COST PPL) you need:
Two servings
2-3 Carrots chopped Cliantro 1 Mango 3-4 Dates Handful of Cashews 2-3 Spring onions 7 Radishes Salad base (I used bistro variety) 1/2 Lime for dressing
Hope you Enjoy! Tell me your favourite vegan recipes & if you enjoyed this one!
Au revoir blah blah blah, Kate
A Westborne Wander
Every Saturday I’m in London, I like to either go to a market (my preference is Portobello Road) or explore new parts of the city, this week, I got to do both!
OOTD: Jeans and Bodysuit both Zara, Hat Topshop
I like to wear stripes on the weekend paired with a good pair of jeans. Its a classic look that gets done up by my green felt hat and Swiss edition Swatch (thanks, Brian!). Of course, it was FREEZING this weekend, so I added my mom’s cashmere grey sweater (finders keepers!) and my vintage Burberry coat.
I walked up the hill, through the Farmer’s market and wandered around my usual territory, Nottinghill. Its such a wonderful time of year, the cherry blossoms mixed with the colourful houses was such a treat to see!
It was a bit crowded, as Saturday is market day, so I took a detour down a favourite street, Blenheim Crescent. This road has excellent Italian restaurants (about 5 different ones, and they all get filled up), a great biscuit place called The Biscuiteers, and award winning butchers, Provence.
Busy, busy.
I found this little guy, almost dognapped him!
This time, I took a left and wandered down to Cordington Mews, which had very cool wall art and a painting of the cover for one of my favourite bands, The XX.
I headed out towards a new-ish area for me, Westborne Grove. If you haven’t been, its a very cool street with Nottinghill houses fitted as boutiques with new designers and healthy restaurants.
They even converted an old church into a beautiful space for retail. There are so many great places to eat here, Redemption, Taqueria, Ottolenghi, Granger and Co, and so many more!
I originally wanted to eat at Granger & Co, which is known for its outstanding Brunch, but the line was TWO HOURS and ain’t nobody got time for that.
So I settled for Jigsaw, normally a retail store, but this one had a little cafe to keep with the new lifestyle trend. It was pretty decent. Cherry danish and cappuchino for 5.25.
I walked a bit more around after breakfast, finding new places to photograph.
All in all, it was a fun day!
Let me know in the comments if you have been to Westborne Grove and what are your favourite things to do in the area!
Au revoir blah blah blah,
Kate
We started our journey at 9 am to Heathrow. Usually, I try to dress nice for airports (since skinny jeans are like a second skin for me) but for trips to Florida, I bring jeans and then switch into shorts when we land.
I got my nails painted a silver-gold for the Christmas Party at Love Nails on Alton Road (my favourite lush place).
My makeup was done with Bobbi Brown Pink Lipstick, Benefit Brows, and Naked Palate eyeshadow.
MY FAVOURITE BUY for 2015... a River Island (bought from ASOS) sparkly top with low back. Super versatile party top that can be unzipped and used as a cardi! Paired with cigarette linen trousers from Mint Velvet.
Heres a little haul of what I got for Christmas; A signed copy of Isabel Allende “Japanese Lover”, Switzerland Swatch Watch with working bell, Naked Palate 3, Halcyon Days Enamel bracelet, Iphone 6 Rose, K mug from Fortnum Mason, Sephora eyeliner set, and Diamond Earrings....my family knows me so well!
Heres me trying to be healthy with Kombuca...This picture got regrammed by Halcyon Days (I’m wearing the bracelet and Lilly Pulitzer bikini).
The parental units
We visited Wynwood, a super hip area that is filled with wall art, galleries, and cool places to eat. Since I knew that we were going to see some pretty colourful designs, I decided to dress in basics to not detract from the art.
Top: the softest tank top ever by Gap, Zara ankle skinny jeans, Gucci Sunglasses, Coach purse, and white Vans.
Dad looking cute!
Mom looking cute!
At the very end of the trip, I went back to my natural brunette locks, nice to be natural again!
Top by Free People
This trip was more relaxed, attire-wise, since I was surviving off of what I had brought over the trip previously. I had a great time, and hope you enjoyed reading this post!
Tell me how you dress for Florida/hotter areas!
Au revoir blah blah blah,
Kate
BAHAMAS- Atlantis Resort
Summer 2015
For my mom’s birthday in August 2015, we got to travel back to one of our family’s favourite hotels...Atlantis Resort in Nassau, Bahamas. More specifically, The Cove, an exclusive part of the hotel for special members, it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. This trip was such a treat because we haven’t been to the Bahamas since our first trip in 2009.
A lot of holiday specials have been filmed here, for good reason. The hotel itself is GORGEOUS as well as a massive water park filled with crazy rides and wildlife surrounding it.
The view from our room, you can see the Mayan ride on the right side and the beginning of the cove beach on the left.
The Cove is separated from the main hotels (there are three in total). There is an Aquarium, casino, a club, and multiple restaurants on premises.
The Casino
We were lucky enough to get back to MESA Grill, a restaurant by Bobby Flay. We loved it the last time we were here, but unfortunately had not a great experience. It felt that the food style wasn’t as impressive as it was in 2009, mostly uninventive and overdone, which was probably to be expected since the menu had not changed. We also found out that the restaurant was in its final days, which is unsurprising.
Outfit: Zara top and skort, Dune shoes
The one great part of the dinner was trying this prickly pear drink (with Vodka). Absolutely my new favourite drink!
The family chilling at the adult pool
The adult’s only pool was the best part of the trip. We spent the majority of the days here listening to the pool DJ, ordering drinks, eating divine food, and occasionally gambling and going on the rides in the main park attractions.
Yes, I am an adult.
We dressed up most nights and went to the casino. I won nothing, but still had a fun time! OOTD: Free People Dress, Vans Shoes, Van Cleef and Arpel Necklace
Happy birthday, Mom!
The water above the Bahamas
I got to even do some paddleboarding (and fell in love with it)!
This was a fabulous trip filled with great memories! Happy birthday, Mom!
Au revior blah blah blah,
Kate
