Buuut: Any recommendations for BBC merlin rebellion au fics preferably with merlin somewhere leading the rebellion/revolution/resistance? I'd love something canon.

Happy ten year anniversary of Arthur's death. It coincides with my 1 year anniversary in this fandom!

I had Corona in December and a high fever when I watched it the first time. So maybe my merlin obsession is just a long-term symptom. Then again at this point I don't know if I am obsessed with the show or with the fandom 😌😂

I was told there was room for some merlin - Diana wynne jones crossovers. So here is a part two. Feel free to add.

First on how merlin and Sophie meet up:

So Howl (book howl, it doesn't make sense otherwise, if you don't know him get the book it's delightful) wants to slither out of another the-king-wants-me-to-do-a-thing-i-don't-want-to business, or alternatively they figured out he doesn't pay taxes. What he does is just a quick change of worlds into another world where there is magic pretty naturally and he assumes he can go on there like usual until everything blows over or he gets his courage together. Sophie is sent out to blacken his name to the local king (she was promised a holiday or sth and doesn't know about any of this). Of course she will go as his old mother because why not. She is absolutely delighted how easy it is to see the King just by saying "I want to warn you about the evil wizard howl. He is really quite wicked and eats people's hearts and such". And the scene with uther will be very delightful cause Sophie does not know uther has no intentions of getting howl to do anything for him except burn at the stake until the very last minute. And uther looks utterly confused when she ends her blackening tirade with "so it will be very good, if you do not ask him to do anything for you, my lord. He is very useless and twisted, it will come to no good." And Uther catching it up with a tyrant kingly "I thank you for bringing this to me. This wizard shall be exposed of immediately."

From here there are two ways it could go.

1. Uther decides to imprison Sophie to lure out howl. Sophie escapes, maybe aided by merlin and weird magical shenanigans follow.

2.uther thanks her and immediately makes plans to kill howl and Sophie is like "oh bother!" and goes into one of her weird panic attacks with her somehow ending up at merlin's room. Where she notices him using magic. Weird shenanigans follow.

Both of these will obviously include Sophie telling merlin destinies are shit because she was the oldest of three sisters and still got out and became happy and had her fortune. And also her having a stern talking with kilgarah the way she does with calcifer.

And of course the obvious scenes with old Sophie and old merlin being absolute unfiltered magical pranksters together.

We have all been deprived of a merthur library scene, so I tried to fill that void. Of course Arthur is utterly useless and just keeps staring at merlin. Will maybe redraw this in a little bit cleaner, I am really out of practice.

I used two different episodes as reference and they are still not recognizable.

In that troll episode, when uther disinherits Arthur, did anyone else expect Arthur to pull an Eomer and just ride out with the guys to protect the people?

Excuse me, I have no idea if there is room somewhere in the dwj or merlin Fandom for this, but I have two crossovers/aus that will not leave my mind.

1. Old!Merlin and Old!Sophie together in a room. Watch the world burn. Just that. Both have completely no filter to their personalities they would rule.

2. Bit more complicated: we'll uther killed all the dragon's right (Still no idea how he managed that, he seemed to be pretty overwhelmed with just kilgarrah). So there must have been an awful amount of dragon's blood. And maybe a lot of that got smuggled out to different worlds and caused a heap of chaos and damage. So Christopher! Chrestomanci gets wind of it and because of past mistakes he is going to take this on himself. He tracks Uther down as the killer and gets a whole team to Camelot for investigation.

Including

-Chrestomanci making everyone feel small and drab by being absolutely sarcastic. ("so you have decided to wipe out all magic from this land that is made out of magic? Yes I see how that seems like a good idea.")

- Chrestomanci trying to have merlin join his collection of gifted kids.

- Cat just randomly freeing magical creatures left and right, ensuing absolute chaos

I just watched the BBC merlin show in just a few days, and now I have feelings and don't know where to go with them. Also I felt so cheated, that we never got openly sorcery merlin and Arthur working together as a badass team that that is my inspiration. It turned out a lot gloomier in the process. And I think merlin's face is not quite boney enough.
