Been using this as my banner on my socials and website for a few days now, idk why I took so long to post it though. At least I remembered before the year was over (just)

Decided to do a little redraw of something I drew exactly two years ago now, given that this year is coming to a close soon

Its a bit late, but I drew myself a new pfp for the christmas season. This is actually a redraw of the original one I did like 16 hours ago, but I put a bit more effort in this time

I've been doing a lot of work on my personal website lately, and one of the big additions is a characters pages. I finally got around to creating the artwork for all the character cards, I just now need to do finishing touches before it can go live

(also this is the first time in years(?) I've drawn either Karari or Bit, or even a character with an actual nose)

Here's how they look on the site. Things aren't quite finished, some things like the figures are still broken from an experiment I did a while back. But all the responsive layout stuff is actually working (to my knowledge) and I reworked a ton of the behind the scenes stuff as well.

And one last little bonus, comparison between the final artworks and the placeholder sketches I did. Three of the four sketches were wayyyy better than I expected for something meant to be temporary, so I just used them for the final artworks. That Mocha placeholder sketch is abhorrent and had to go however

finally drew a lucario and tried using that rendering technique I explored yesterday

also the hands and feet aren't particularly detailed or well done on this one. this is because I couldn't be asked

a little lighting experiment, trying out something a little lower effort since it might encourage me to render more sketches

normally I hand pick all the colors I use, but I wanted to try using blending modes for once since it definitely reduces complexity + reduces overall layer count. left one took basically no time at all, right one took 20 mins max to shade I think, which is much faster than usual for me

I think the right one with a bit more time could have some of the mistakes ironed out + I could reintroduce other passes (like ambient occlusion) to get a more detailed look. But I also wanna experiment with cel shading more, since I'm sure I could improve that significantly as well

and since I'm explaining stuff, might as well share the layers + blend modes I used in case thats helpful. I might not be using the right terminology for some of the stuff here, I just named stuff in a way that made sense to me

Haven't drawn much in weeks, but something compelled me to make some design changes to bee mocha, and somehow that turned into basically a reference sheet

also the tail length thing is purely because I'm indecisive. I like him with a short tail, I like him with a long tail. And since I can have both, I will have both.
