“It’s not ideal,” Kara agreed. Though she wasn’t sure she had much of a choice before Mon returned. Maybe at some point she would have ended up back in Midvale, living with Eliza or something. That wouldn’t have been her first choice, but it also wouldn’t have been the worst. Eliza probably would have loved the company and seeing her grandkid all the time. “Yeah, I just seem to be growing a future gymnast in here,” she laughed, resting both of her hands on her stomach and breathing out slowly. “They’ve been a lot more active today. Maybe because of all of the excitement with you being home.” Her head rested back on his shoulder again as soon as the baby relaxed, letting out a small yawn.

“Then we DEFINITELY need to be looking for a place with more room.” Mon-El chuckled, reaching to place a hand over her belly as well. “I’m sure that they have. It’s been a very exciting day.” To say the least. Mon leaned in and kissed Kara’s cheek. “I love you, Kara. Zor-El.” More than she could ever imagine or fathom. “We will figure everything out and it will be great.” They’d be a family soon and honestly, he couldn’t wait!

"I'm so glad to have you back, and that you're not still married to someone else," she tried not to laugh at her own jealousy, but she honestly would have lost her damn mind if he had shown up when he was married to Imra. Losing him just seven months earlier and then finding out soon after that she was pregnant and would be raising a baby alone – that had been bad enough. "I love you, Mon-El. So much." She smiled up at him, excitement swelling up in her chest. "Everything is already great, it can only get better."

“You’re being so sweet and I can’t even smash my face against yours, it’s so unfair!!” Kara huffed out in frustration and nearly stomped her foot like a toddler. She slipped away a moment to regain her composure, forcing images of puppies and kittens to play through her mind before turning back to face Barry again. “I am going to kiss you, and I’m not going to break your nose.” She announced, slowly leaning in and pausing just inches from his lips. “You’re going to tell me the moment it starts to feel too rough.”

That little outburst made Barry’s brows shoot up as he watched her turn away. She wanted to smash her face against his and make-out and he just wanted to laugh at those words… “Okay.” He agreed. “I will let you know.” But he doubted that she was going to get too rough, he’d be fine! Taking a deep breath, he closed the distance between them and kissed her this time, a hand going to her cheek and holding gently.

She let out a shaky breath just before their lips met, reminding herself to take it slow and not make any sudden movements. Barry had fast refluxes, maybe he would even be able to avoid anything major. That was the little confidence boost she needed! Kara followed his lead though, each soft kiss given returned almost like a choreographed dance. She never pushed beyond what she received, except for a few instances where she sucked gently on his lower lip, but she'd basically recorded in her mind now exactly how easy she needed to be on him. "I think I've got this down," she finally spoke up.

“Aren’t you?” Kara questioned. She couldn’t imagine he was thrilled with the possibility of having bones broken while kissing a girl. “Maybe Caitlin could fix me… make me a soft human with some sort of vaccine?” She didn’t know if that were possible on this planet, their technology was already lightyears behind what Krypton used to have. She just wanted to be able to hug Barry back in that moment. Like REALLY hug him.

“Not really, but I understand being afraid that you might hurt someone.” When he’d first gotten his own powers he thought of all the terrifying things that could happen until he learned to control them better. “NO.” Barry was firm with that answer, pulling away and placing his hands on Kara’s shoulders. “You are perfect the way you are, you don’t need to be human. You are Kara Zor-El and you are amazing. Your powers don’t MAKE you who you are, but I can’t imagine you being happy without them and I will not let you go through with anything like that, ESPECIALLY not to just be able to kiss me.” That would be probably the worst thing he could let happen. Her giving parts of herself up for him? Not worth it.  “I would never forgive myself for letting you even THINK about something like that.”

Kara immediately scowled. She didn’t want to think about meeting someone else, she currently only had eyes for one person and he was standing right in front if her. “But I like you, Barry. I want to kiss you.” Her eyes lowered to the floor and she began to feel anxious and awkward again. She had been enjoying Earth quite a lot, finding herself not dwelling all the time on losing her planet and family up until that specific moment when she suddenly realized that Earth was going to give her nothing but complications. She took a cautious step forward and very carefully curled against Barry’s form, resting her head against his chest as if she was asking for a hug. “Am I going to have to just close myself off from everyone?”

“I get it, believe me.” He’d been stuck in the friend zone for as long as he could remember, so this didn’t phase him. It was sort of like that, maybe in the same realm. “You want to, but you can’t because you’re afraid, It’s okay.” He wasn’t going to push anything, that would only result in certain disaster. Barry wrapped an arm around her when she came up and curled against him. “I don’t know, I guess you will just have to work on things as they come.” The man told her, reaching up and running his fingers through her loose curls.

Her cheeks flushed. “Yes..” Then she threw her head back and let out a frustrated laugh. “You know that’s not what I meant!” She had to stop herself from giving him a shove, knowing she could hurt him even if she was gentle about that. “Well, that stinks!” And was completely unfair. Was she supposed to just not be intimate with anyone ever due to her strength? Rao, why?? “I don’t want these powers anymore.”

“No, I know. I just thought it was kind of funny to picture even though it would hurt.” Barry replied with a half-smile though it melted away a couple of seconds later. “It does.” The man agreed. “I’m sorry, but I don’t think you have an option of getting rid of them.” And why would she? “Maybe one day you’ll find a nice alien who you can kiss without injuring.” And that sucked coming out of his mouth but it was pretty clear that they weren’t compatible, at least not physiologically.

“She’s ok, Mon-El.” The sound of Imra’s reassuring voice filled the room as she strode in and immediately went to his bedside. “She was pacing between you and Alex so often she nearly wore a dent in the floor, I had to insist she get some rest.”

“There was no insisting, she forced it upon me,” Kara interrupted a second later, causing Imra to sheepishly lower her head. She understood why the woman had taken advantage of her weakened mind to telepathically send her into a nap, but that didn’t mean she had to approve of it. “Now I’m going to actually insist you both leave.” She didn’t have to tell Imra twice. She motioned for Brainy to follow and scurried back out of the room again, Kara immediately moving to take her spot beside Mon-El before almost breaking down into tears. “I couldn’t protect him,” she croaked out. “I was so weak. I–I begged her, Mon, I begged her not to take him.” She sat on the edge of his bed, her lower lip quivering as she peered up at him. “She wants to turn him into another Worldkiller.”

Mon stared up at Imra, only half believing the words coming out of her mouth. “She couldn’t be OKAY after what happened, Imra.” He stated seriously before Kara piped up and the Daxamite sat up, ignoring the pounding in his head.  The man reached out for Kara as Imra and Brainy left them alone. An arm wrapped around her, pulling her close to him as she broke down. His heart was just as broken as hers was, so he understood. “I know you did.” He held her close to him and placed a kiss to the top of her head. “Once I recover and you’re back to your full strength we are going to get our son back, no matter what it takes.” He wasn’t going to be evil, he couldn’t be. Mon-El wouldn’t allow his son to be a force against the good.  “I’m so sorry, Kara. I tried to help as best I could.” But he was already weak and Reign just blew him away like a piece of trash down the side of the highway. The man bit his lips and closed his eyes. “I’m glad that I wasn’t conscious to see her take him.” That would have torn his heart out.

She clutched on to him tightly, trying her best to keep from becoming a sobbing mess again. She didn't want to cry anymore, she was exhausted both physically and mentally. "It's not your fault, Mon-El. I know you would have done more if you could. I—I couldn't even put up a fight. One shove and she could have broken me like she did Maddy. We're so lucky Alex is ok," she sobbed out, overwhelmed with gratefulness that her sister wasn't in Maddy's condition. "Watching Reign walk away with Aiden was the most helpless I have ever felt in my life. I felt like the worst mother in the universe and he wasn't even an hour old. I should have at least TRIED, even if she snapped me in half."

“Barry.” She stressed his name, balling up the fabric of his shirt into her fists so he wouldn’t try to run away. “I am very much into it, but I also really like your cute nose the way it is.” She released him from her grasp and sighed, running one of her hands through her hair as she took a step back. “Trying to control my strength isn’t easy, ok? I’m afraid I’m going to brush my nose against yours the wrong way and blood will suddenly gush everywhere because I’ve broken it. Or I’ll bump into you in the kitchen and you’ll fly into the oven and it will blow up.”

“You think I have a cute nose?” He questioned as she let go of him. Part of him understood, Kara didn’t want to hurt him and he was glad but at the same time it kind of sucked. “Bump me into the kitchen, with your nose? Wow, that would be intense.” Barry agreed, trying to hold in a chuckle. “I understand, we probably shouldn’t do that again then, I don’t want you to be worried.” It was enough to know that she liked him, at least. They still didn’t know the extent of her powers, so it was probably better not to push the boundaries.

“I don’t want to hurt you,” Kara’s small voice interrupted when things started to get a little more heated. She was incredibly stronger than any human and could potential break Barry’s nose if she wasn’t aware of her movements at all times. “I know you heal fast but..” She frowned. “I’d feel terrible.”

Pressing his lips together Barry nodded his head and removed his hands from Kara’s wrists, letting them fall to his sides. “I understand.” He nodded his head once again. “No, I totally get it. We don’t have to kiss again, I just thought that you were into it.”

She was still worried she’d do or say something silly and get herself into trouble. Responding to Barry in silence, she made a move closer until she could rest the palms of her hands flat against his chest. “I hoped you’d ask me that again,” she said with a grin, and then kissed him softly on the mouth.

“That’s fair.” He was glad that at least she wanted to stay around to check on him. That made Barry’s heart happy, but so did kissing the Kryptonian. Bringing his hands up to gently wrap around Kara’s wrists, he returned the kiss fervently. He didn’t want her to pull away from him too soon.

She could feel his eyes on her but she tried to brush it off, not wanting to jump right back into the awkwardness they were in before they had gone off to take their separate naps. “I told you before that I wouldn’t want to leave you.” She shook her head at his question. “I was only half asleep. I guess my super hearing picked up your voice and snapped me out of it.”

“No, I thought that maybe you’d gone to STAR Labs or something, though.” Barry shrugged, pulling his eyes back up to meet hers after a moment of just staring at her legs. That was a little too quick, there, Barry. “Can I kiss you again, Kara?”

Having gone to take a nap herself after the awkward stress she’d put herself under, Kara’s super hearing allowed her to wake up as soon as Barry called out to her. She frantically kicked the blanket off her bare legs before zipping out into the hall in nothing but an oversized STAR Labs shirt, a small sigh of relief hitting her when she saw he was perfectly fine. She didn’t know why she panicked, maybe it was just because of the state he’s come home in. “Everything ok?”

Relief washed over him when Kara ran out of her room and asked if he was okay. “Yeah, I just - - - wanted to make sure that you were still here.” He commented before his eyes wandered down her form to her legs. WOW. The STAR Labs shirt only covered so much of them and they were a sight. The man cleared his throat and forced himself to meet her eyes once again. “Did I wake you up? I‘m sorry if I did.” He was just glad that she didn’t go anywhere and try to kick someone’s ass.
