One of the things that amuses me about Persuasion is how Charles Musgrove and Captain Wentworth sit on the polar opposite ends of the spectrum of “How to React When Anne Elliot Rejects Your Marriage Proposal”.

Captain Wentworth: I am HEARTBROKEN! I have been WRONGED! I must go to sea as quickly as possible to distract myself from my emotions!

Charles Musgrove: Oh, okay, that’s cool, I’ll just marry your sister. We can still be friends, right?

I mean, obviously there was much more love involved in Wentworth’s case, but you have to give Charles some credit for not being a Drama Queen about it.
