          she is grown now,   chubby cheeks having slimmed,   hair cut shorter than he’s ever seen it   ——   but she is undoubtedly his baby sister.   (   pictures don’t do her justice.   )   &   he knows how pissed she is.   he’s pissed at himself for not remaining in better contact,   for leaving at all,   but the longer he stayed away the less he thought her and aaron would want him to come back.   he left them.   he’s just another jimmy.   and so he stands there for a moment,   two,   three before his body is pulling her into a hug of its own volition.   it’s undeserved.

 the  longer  amber  looked  at  him ,    the  more  she  felt  that  her  chest  was  going  to  collapse .    the  radio  silence  was  killing  her ,    making  her  think  that  alex  didn’t  care  that  she’d  come ,    that  it  didn’t  matter  that  she  was  so  angry  with  him .    it  took  her  by  surprise ,    his  arms  wrapping  around  her  so  tightly    &    immediately  the  tears  that  had  began  to  brim  had  burst ;    a  tiny  sob  escaping  into  her  older  brothers  chest  as  her  arms  finally  wrapped  around  him ,    too .

 “    i  don’t  know  what  to  say  to  you  anymore .    ”    the  betrayal  was  so  clear  in  her  eyes ,    the  hurt .    amber  knew  that  alex  never  meant  to  hurt  her ,    but  the  fact  was  that  he  had .    alex  had  taken  away  the  only  father  she’d  ever  known .    “    i  don’t  even  know  what  i’m  doing  here . . .    i  really  don’t .    ”
