Happy Caturday!

đ¸ for my muse to find your muse behind the bar. (Heddy!)
âOk, this is cute.â
Black pointed heels nudged the hand of a woman, who had seemingly fallen asleep scrolling her phone on the tufted bench that spanned behind the bar. Karolina took two steps forward, click click. She tilted her head and one of the bees finally fell out, metal rod clattering on the parquet.
Another nudge. âPoppet?â The high edge had left her voice, replaced with a lower timbre better resembling a lounge singer on her fifth night in a row. âMuffin?â She leaned forward and shook the womanâs shoulder. The band had stopped, the house lights flickering on. âTruffle, wake up.â A thin, pale finger tapped the tip of her nose.
âAh!â Karolina brightened. âThere you are, puffin. It is time for the after-party.â

𧟠Practicing their speech in the bathroom. (Karo xxx)
The speech Cheryl wrote was tossed into the restroom trash. Fuck that. Doubtful much would be said on his part and if necessary Maddox would wing it. After washing his hands he decided to re-tie his tie. Over his reflection in the full length mirror the princess of Russia appeared. No sense in reminding her it wasnât a unisex bathroom because the princess wouldnât care, and neither did he.Â
âI like the, uh.â He dropped the end the tie for a second to gesture to his face. Headband? Veil? Something resembling a goth car wash. Also known as couture. âYou look nice.âÂ

âSo do you, plumpling.â It wasnât a word, or at least she wasnât sure of it, but it felt nice on her lips and the brief pause gave her a chance to reach up and squinch his cheek. Karo grinned. One hip dipped closer, then the other, but she made no other move toward him â save her fingertips, nails still curling into his cheek.
âI saw your boyfriend, he was taking pretty pretty pictures, ya?â
She alternated between looking at him and her own reflection in the mirror, the faux honeybees tucked into the pile of hair atop her head fluttering, one swooping dangerously close to his forehead. âDo you smell candy?â
Plumpling. Russia was such an odd bird, an eccentric derailed train difficult to look away from. Nails gently grazed his cheek. Maddox didnât question. Or move. Best not to or draw any unnecessary attention.Â
âWas he taking pictures? Heâs a bit of a history buff.â Not really but it was the simplest explanation. âHavenât seen your boyfriend tonight, howâs Valko? He still have the yoga retreat with the petting zoo?â He batted away a bee floating too close. âI donât smell candy, no.â One last check of his hair in the mirror behind her. âWhere dâya get the bees, princess?â
âFrom the bee store,â she said matter-of-factly. Karolina grinned, two lines of surprisingly tiny teeth on full display. He looked in the mirror and she did, too, giving her best sultry pout. He could fix his hair all he liked, but it wouldnât manage to be as shiny as hers. Sheâd used mayonnaise.
A shimmy, a swish, and she was a step away from him without really moving at all. It was as though the scene had changed, as though theyâd skipped across a ripple in time. Karolina posed in front of the full-length mirror, admiring the way her ribcage protruded from her waist.
âIâm going to go find something to lick.â She declared, quite decisively and not him. Her light blue eyes trailed over him lavisciously. âIâll come find you for a nibble later, ok?â
đ¨ Escaping a one-sided conversation.
âTra-la-la-la, ya, you said that already.â Karo trilled, but the blathering man paid it no mind. She eyed him critically, letting her gaze wander from his cheeks (red and flushed) to his shoulders (broad and yummy) to his other bits, which were what had attracted her in the first place. But this wasnât worth it.
âOkie, ya, very good.â She drained her glass and set it on a passing tray, nestling the crystal amidst an array of shrimp. âYa, yaââ
She walked away, striding purposefully across the edge of the ballroom, the space that sheâd once occupied standing open like a vacuum. Reaching for an arm extended across her path, she pulled the smaller woman away from her conversation. âHello kitten!â Karolina beamed down. âDo you want a nibble? I am starving. The shrimpies are not very good tonight.â

â⌠and that is why you must always be aware of the break!â Lecia called over her shoulder, trying to finish the thought in a hurry. She didnât fight the insistent tug on her arm, though she was unaware of who was pulling her away or why. She hadnât been finished explaining the intricacies of how to drive large vehicles, and her lips formed a perfect pout until she heard mention of food.
âOh, yes!â she agreed immediately. Lecia entwined her arm with Karolinaâs, and gestured for the other princess to lead the way. âI am wanting⌠maybe a waffle. I think they do not have this here. It is only tiny bites on trays. What we will do?â
âWaffle! Youâre a waffle!â Karoâs voice was like the high tittering of three birds, rapid and rising to a crescendo. She pivoted left, then rapidly right, never letting go of Leciaâs arm or considering that the attachment may have ramifications. Her head twisted back to the brunette. âYou want waffles? Hey!â She snapped at a server. âDo you have them. Waffles.â
He looked horrified, which was how people seemed to always look. Everyone was so scared all the time. Quickly he bowed, stuttered, shook his head, but Karo had already waved him off with a tsk before any words came out.
âCan we order them? Here, kitten.â She passed her phone to the princess, a jewel-encrusted thing with a background of animated kitty-kat heads. âYou do it.â
Lecia took the phone. It was shiny, and she liked shiny.
âLook at this kittens!â She unhooked her arm, now somewhat sore from the haphazard journey across the room, and stared at the keypad for a few seconds. Realizing in that time that she didnât know who to call. Someone to go pick up the food. She would need to look up a number. As she started to tap through the options, the phone pinged in her hands.
âUh oh, you are getting a text,â she announced, âThey send you a aubergine, a plate of spaghetti bolognese, and a swirly⌠this is hurricane? Then last is a Pai Natal. The Saint Claus. You want I will answer? I will send a waffle.â
end.
The clock strikes midnight. Send me a prompt for a quick, four post thread.

𤳠Taking a selfie. (KARON)
âOkie okie okie.â She was talking to herself, clicking around the edge of the room. Her heels were precariously high, which made it easy to see over the crowds of people in the ballroom. Clickity-clack. Clickity-clack. Clickity--
Clack? She stopped.
âOh hello poppet.â Karolinaâs teeth were strangely small in her mouth as it widened into a bright smile. She ducked into view of the Germanâs camera, the bumblebees suspended on wires around her hair flittering with the movement. âIs it picture time?â

At any given event, Aaron usually took a couple dozen selfies. Not just of himselfâwith Maddox, and Ollie, and whoever else he could sucker into it for a fun post to social media. He found himself alone and bored which was usually when a solitary selfie was taken. He did hear the click-clack of heels behind him, but it could have been anyone.
Oh, it was Karolina.
Something poked him on the side of his eye, causing him to grimace. But he was unbothered, grinning in the next instance. âYes it is. Smile.â Aaron repositioned his phone to include the Russian princess with both of them centered. âNow, serious.â Aaron put on his best âblue steele.â âAnd a goofy one? What should we do? You look fantastic, by the way.â
Karolina frequently texted him off the wall requests for dick picksâboth him and Maddox, but it was hard to be mad at her for it. Especially when her fashion choices always blew everyone else out of the water.
âYa ya ya ya. Click click!â She blew a kiss at the camera and spun, coming face-to-face with a waiter, from whom she snatched two drinks: one tequila, one bourbon. She kept the bourbon. âHere you go.â
âIs it for tikky-tok? That is what all my modely models are using. And my brother, the dumb fat one, ya? But he has no friends.â Karo clicked her tongue. âIs very sad.â
Aaron had no idea what kind of drink he had just been handed other than to recognize it was not something he would usually order. But it was that time of night where everything thrust into his hand was sipped without question. âDanke.â He shook his head at her question. âIt is not for âtikky-tokâ it is for âtweeter.â My followers cannot get enough of your outfits! You should get a tweeter account!â
Aaron clicked his tongue and took another generous sip of the mystery drink. âIt is rude to speak of Niko that way,â he said with a giggle. âLittle brothers are the worst and that is why we do not use tikky-tok. Our faces are too good for it, yes?â
end.
valkothewolfâ:
She was called a nose job.
Valko puttered on behind her, still clutching the empty glass. Rather like a child clinging absentmindedly to a beloved blanket for security. He helped himself to the bacon bites after she had, taking enough that there was a toothpick sticking out between every finger on his left hand. Snack on the run. Though he wasnât exactly running.
âSexiest royal,â he answered, âNo wait, sexiest pirate.â Heâd forgotten, for a brief moment, the point of the gathering, but he soon gathered his wits enough to chomp down on one of the dangling hors d'oeuvre. Sexiest person. That covered the gamut, but Valko had a sneaky suspicious that would end in a battle between the two of them over who really deserved the title.
If he had to lose the sexiest title to someoneâŚ
He stared stupidly at her for a moment. What was he thinking, it would absolutely not be her. He switched the empty glass to the other hand - the one that was already rather full - and plucked a card from the table. It would take a steady hand to try and copy whoever had written out this name. Maybe it had been done by printer. A lot of things could be these days. Valko squinted at the swirly letters.
âWho the fuck is⌠Brian Rhee? Was he on the island?â he asked, setting down the card and reaching for a marker. He finally abandoned all the little treats he was carrying to uncap it. He turned the marker on himself, and took a swipe across his upper lip. Mustache time.
âLetâs switch them all around. Who do you have over there?â
âSexiest,â she continued, her hand flitting down to graze the front of his slacks. It was always a wild card with Karolina, whether the touch would be soft or a vicious tangle with her fingernails. Luckily, her attention waned.
âWho?â
She scanned the crowd for someone who looked like a Brian before the door shut, except that they all looked like Brians. An entire room of Brians and no Antons or Dimitris as far as the eye could see. A wash, really. Just Valko. She glanced back at him and her honeybees fluttered again
âWhat island?â
Theyâd gone to Fiji a few years ago, and Bora-Bora just last week. âWas he with us in Tahiti?â A pause. âWait. You werenât in Tahiti.â
It didnât matter. Her fingers were already shuffling the placecards for dinner like the dealer at a roulette table, mixing France and Korea, Norway and Tobago. She spread the deck out toward him in her palms. âMm. Who are the divorced recently? Time for happy reunions!â

âItâs time to retire, sir. Due to the late hour, sir.â
Angus spoke sternly at his reflection in the mirror. Mimicking the affectation of the most influential person he knew, Fraulein Brandt, he recited his lines flawlessly. His job was to take care of his countryâs head of state, and sometimes that meant standing his ground when face to face with a king. Reigning him in, so to speak. Which was hard. Practice made perfect.
âHave a glass of water before you have another drink, sir. No, we cannot pour salt in the Prince of Austriaâs coffee, sir. No, I will not ask Lecia of Portugal to do it for us, sir.â Angus nearly jumped out of his skin when the door slammed open.
âThis room is occupied!â he sputtered.
âOkie nugget.â
She pranced, her little heels clickity-clacketying on the marble floor. Pausing in the mirror to quickly primp the little bees that were scattered around her head, she looked down at the man. Boy. Suit-man. Karo smized.
The room was low-lit, giving her cheekbones a Death Valley sort of glow. One of the bees fluttered near the top of her hair-hive. She edged closer, close enough that she could run her fingertip down his nose. âWho are you talking to, hmmm?â

âI should get an award.â
If they were going to hand them out willy-nilly then a commendation on behalf of his own efforts would be appreciated. He was, after all, actually wearing a shirt. Not to mention pants, shoes, and a tailcoat. Valko would have liked a little positive reinforcement for all of those things. He nabbed two glasses from the nearest tray, and offered one to his date for the evening. Not that the designation meant much to either of them.
âI guess they canât give out an award for best abs if they canât see them,â he added, downing his drink in one go. Restraint. Another thing he should be complimented on tonight. He could have kept both glasses for himself.
Arched ceilings provided a nice reverberation for the hum going on around them. Demur, respectful voices trading quips and hinting at potential trade deals. The rest of his family was somewhere among them. He raised his eyebrows at the crowd. Turned toward his nightmare of a companion, and tilted his empty glass to gesture toward a burly prince near the door.
âCheck this guy out. Looks like someone had the old deviated septum fixed,â murmured Valko. Out of habit, his glass raised to his lips again, but sadly it was empty. âLooks good though. Think heâs getting an award tonight?â
@karolinaofrussiaâ
âYou could have award for best llama.â Karo mused. Her lips were cherry Icee red, an opaque gloss so refined that it looked better suited to anime than life. Atop her head, her hair was piled in cascading piles of blond, accentuated by black swoops as it climbed ever higher. At some of the plateaus, foam honeybees on wires sprung out, their black wings coated in glitter. She nodded. They bobbed. âOr best nose.âÂ
A finger reached out, poking his. Her nails were striped black and nude.
Best abs was an interesting award, mostly because it seemed to be high in demand. Why hadnât one of the princess ladys thought of that? They could host a charity function. Karo thought she might like to nuzzle some abs. Maybe some a bit softer than Valkoâs. His were so chisled.
âItâs called a nose job,â Karo corrected, missing the point as her attention waned. Gray eyes fixated on a silver platter as it trailed through the room, delicious bacon wrapped around some sort of dead flesh. âOver here!â she snapped her fingers, summoning the staff, and took two: one straight into her mouth, the other into her palm.
After a moment, the toothpick was extracted from her red lips, clean as a whistle. She discarded it on the tray.
âCome on.â Back to Valko, then, a tug with her hand on his arm before she was off, winding through the crowd. She dropped the other bacon morsel in a underfed princessesâ hand, before flinging open a side door. Beyond it was a bare antechamber, folding tables propped up around the perimeter, stray table markers and speakers notes atop. âWhich award do you want? We change the cards.â
