did somebody translate what Mikiko & Nakata said during the MJ Perfume Anniversary special? As nice as it is to see Perfume praising Mikiko so highly, I also lowkey want them to acknowledge/mention the significance of Nakata more often. Like… this guy is literally what made you come this far today (music is everything)

nakata treat perfume just like a job. it’s not their fault if he doesn’t consider them valuable. nakata only care for the ‘cool’ kids, perfume mean nothing to him. he’s an asshole.

I wouldn't feel too bad about Perfume not getting #1! The girl group in the #1 spot has at least a billion members and puts handshake event tickets in their CDs so fans bulk buy, and the group in #2 has at least 5-6 editions with handshake tickets as well. Perfume, with only two editions, is the real winner here. Even though STAR TRAIN is meh...

Oricon isn’t a deciding factor of what makes artists successful and I agree Perfume is doing really well (especially with the points you mentioned)It’s more of the fact that the groups in question/that whole entire business practice behind it is what annoys me. The companies behind idol groups are truly exploiting the fans through those editions. I mean yeah I really would buy/consider all versions of a Perfume release (Kashiyuka ver, Nocchi ver, Achan ver, Group ver, etc) but it’s just a bitter reality that such a business practice is so effective. With idol groups making so much bank, it eventually leads to a skewed perspective of the Japanese Music Industry as a whole. Like, is this group really that popular or is it the dedication* of the fans that make them seem popular? I use the term dedication loosely when it comes to buying merch because that’s a whole other complicated topic lol.I was about to type more paragraphs but it’s pretty late rn and I’d prob make myself sound dumber. Maybe I’ll save it for later idk

im upset they’re #3 on the charts rn (esp considering my dislike towards how generic idol music tends to be) but then again it’s a mediocre single so it’s kinda expected like as much as I want the single to slay because they’re perfume, I’m not about to turn a blind eye and not admit I’m disappointed

As #prfmsummer comes to an end and the season changes, prfmsummer proudly presents “PRFMSUMMER2k15 Mixtape: BM2TF.” This was a collaborative effort between many members of the prfm tag on Tumblr.
