So earlier in art class today, someone drew a characters hands in their pockets and mentioned that hands are really like the ultimate end boss of art, and most of us wholeheartedly agreed. So then, our teacher went ahead and free handed like a handful of hands on the board, earning a woah from a couple of students. So the one from earlier mentioned how it barely took the teacher ten seconds to do what I can’t do in three hours. And you know what he responded?
“It didn’t take me ten seconds, it took me forty years.”
And you know, that stuck with me somehow. Because yeah. Drawing a hand didn’t take him fourth years. But learning and practicing to draw a hand in ten seconds did. And I think there’s something to learn there but it’s so warm and my brain is fried so I can’t formulate the actual morale of the lesson.
Saying "I'm not going to draw this thing because I don't know how to draw this thing" is really shooting yourself in the foot, because you've now cut yourself off from an opportunity to grow.
I had a friend in college who was an absolutely amazing artist. I loved seeing his work! One time I said something to the effect of "I could never do that."
He told me something that, as an artist, I resonate with. He said art isn't about natural talent; it's a learned skill. When you tell an artist their level of skill is impossible for you to reach, you're assuming their level of skill is a natural gifting they have, and it discredits the hundreds to thousands of hours of hard work they've put into getting where they are today, and you're cutting yourself off from trying to reach that point yourself.
its my impression only,or i feel like Mitzi looks like if Joan crawlford and clara bow were the same being?
Like,am i getting crazy?
It's not crazy. Mitzi's looks are pretty heavily inspired by Clara Bow, and other stars/starlets of the silent era who wore a similar look. The cherub face, cupid bow lips, and dramatic eyes were very much in style in the 1920s.
Mitzi's got a much softer, rounder face than Joan Crawford in my mind. Crawford had bone structure to die for, but I can see what you're getting at, I think, around the eyes and brows. Here's Joan's 1920s look, where the photographer is really trying to emphasize eyes and lips while seemingly downplaying her facial structure. Her 1930s look really embraces the fact that she has an entire face.
as much as i understand being a hater you have to offset that shit with genuine, sincere enjoyment & wonder sometimes lest YOU become the one who is corny. and sad. imo.
where’s your fucking whimsy, jackass? your compassion? is it only irony and judgement 24/7 for you? booooo

i think some of you dont like narratives or stories or characters i think you just like fanfiction tropes
protagonists can and will be sexist, racist, insensitive, cruel, stupid, etc, especially towards the beginning of a story. these are called character flaws and they are a surprise tool that will lead to narrative fulfillment later
Why is Mordecai bald in the pilot? Did the Savoys shave him as a prank?
Nah. We wanted Mordecai to look older and more put-together relative to Rocky and Freckle, so we smoothed him out some. It also gives us the opportunity to muss his hair up at opportune moments (as you can see his fluff returned after the incident at the quarry). It was a visual contrast thing, really.
Some more Monkey Wrench memes I made in prep for episode 4. Hoo boy!
my mom hung up some clothes of mine on the doorframe and it seriously could not convey more "this guy dresses like a cartoon bully" if it got up and stole a kids lunch money
i live like this chat.

How to Overcome Procrastination
1. Be honest with yourself and admit that you’re putting off stuff that really needs to be done.
2. Try to figure out why you’re procrastinating. Is it because you don’t like it, it creates anxiety, you don’t understand it, it feels overwhelming, you’re disorganised?
3. Decide to break the habit of procrastination by deliberately rewarding yourself for doing something you’d rather not do.
4. Make a pact with a friend where you deliberately and regularly encourage each other, and hold each other accountable.
5. Sit down and think, in detail, about all the likely consequences of not doing what needs to be done. Be brutally honest, and try and picture what you’re life is going to look like 6 months, a year and five years from now ( if you continue to procrastinate).
6. Decide to break large tasks down into smaller, more achievable tasks, and then tackle these smaller tasks one at a time.
7. Recognise your progress, and affirm and praise yourself for making these changes – and doing things differently, even though it’s hard.
