Nodus Tollens {The Ishidas}
~
She was bowing - why was she bowing? It had been many years since anything other than Kurosaki’s innate bizarreness surprised Uryuu enough to bring all his faculties to a halt, but here he was, groping for sense and blinking wide eyed at the woman in front of him.
Then she called him sir and said she didn’t have kids - didn’t know him. It was like being slapped, or having your best friend-slash-rival turn into a mindless hollow and almost kill you. A hollow, hurt sort of shock that drowned out any remaining sense in you.
“You…” he tried to collect his thoughts, but nothing came. After a moment of more trying, a different feeling managed to break through. Credulousness. “Yes you are,” he said, fixing his glasses. “Or, you will be. Or I’ve gone mad because you’re quite dead, either way.”
He realized he was babbling, and then realized what he said and felt the heat of embarrassment over come him. “Which is to say I uh, I’m sorry. Wrong person yes obviously you’re very alive right now. Obviously.”
Flushed, covered in coffee and still without having set up his bank account, Uryuu turned on his heel, ready to flee.
His hypothesis was correct at least - he was definitely insane.
The look on his face made her heart hurt terribly. This man was utterly convinced that she was his mother. And, well, he could very well be quite right. There were all sorts of odd things that happened around these places that weren't home and time travel - would that really be the oddest thing?
She stepped back slightly to get a better look at his face. Upon seeing his face she had emotions of bliss, anxiety and horror. This man was a spitting image of master Ryuken. She was pulled out of her daze when he mentioned the word dead.
She... was dead? How terrible! Or not terrible, depressing perhaps was the better word. What was he saying? Wrong person? You can't just drop a bomb like that and expect to just reverse it that quickly. This was a moment of no taksies backsies.
She quickly sped after the young man making sure get in front of him. She crossed her arms and tapped a foot. "Young Master Ishida. You must know that it is terribly impolite to turn ones back and run away whilst in the middle of a conversation? If I am indeed your mother you must know I do not approve of such behaviour."
Her frown softened. "And I wish to hear you out. You look very similar to the young master so I must say I am intrigued to learn more. My place is very near by so why don't we have some tea and get our selves cleaned up." She paused. “I- I don’t know if you’re angry at me or something but this place is quite... insane.”
She straightened her shoulders. “Hello.” She stuck out her hand. “I am Katagiri Kanae and depending on my name I may or may not be your mother.”
