Rudy knight is a pretty decent theory -he has a very good motive, wanting his daughter back and working with carol and Kris etc. -his unknown sickness being similar to when Berdly gets hurt in the darkworld, possibly making himself sicker due to overexposure -reindeer shape -The second Rudy has a medical emergency Kris rushes to start a dark fountain and NOT be there for Noelle or tell Susie, implying that Rudy being out of the picture is ESSENTIAL for something

Deltarune theory: "lighter than light"

SPOILERS: this is for anyone who is psychotic enough to collect all eggs and shadow crystals up to ch 5, alongside weird route spoilers. thyne has been warned! note: this is also somewhat related to device theory by Molly Stars. watch it, it is good!

So here is the basic tldr:

The game we the player is playing ISN'T the true story, it is an altered story by Gaster / whoever.

here are my examples and reasoning! -the shadow crystals are established to show the world above. when you use them in a darkwork, they reveal what it looks like in the light world.

however they get REALLY weird and vague in the light world

so! what if the shadow crystals, or the "glass" in the light world, show the "layer above" as well? They show a timeline that is SUPPOSED to originally happen but isn't due to some kind of influence on the story. I would also like to add that the sword route (ch 3 shadow crystal) shows some very fucking weird shit by Ramb most notably: Ramb mentioned that Tenna altered the original game to fit his own narrative.

Direct quote from Ramb: "Y'see, that game you have been playin'? is not EXACTLY the original. Ol' Tenna's done a little somethin here, a little somethin there, And made the whole adventure some blasted line from A to B. Primo. boring stuff." (link to all tenna lines video)

HMMM. SOMEONE CHANGING THE GAME TO FIT THEIR PERSONAL GOAL AT THE COST OF REMOVING YOUR ABILITY TO CHOOSE? "WE DON'T DECIDE WHO WE ARE IN THIS WORLD"? HMMM WHAT DOES THAT REMIND ME OF.

I feel like this is some kind of foreshadowing that the shadow crystals are some kind of window to "light", the world above. another thing:

What in the hell ARE shadow crystals exactly?

In ch 5 Shawm basically confirms that shadow crystals are the physical remains of broken dreams that POSSIBLY make people go nuts? still vague on that last bit. Ch 1: Jevil essentially deluding himself about the state of his reality claiming that everyone else is trapped but him (unknown direct light world equivalent) Ch 2: mettaton losing hope of their perfect body and spamton wanting to ascend Ch 3: deadass just chipped it from the Knight's sword. no idea what the hell THAT means. Ch 4: Gerson never finished his book.... and he doesn't care! he just gives it to Susie. The shadow crystal might have come from his son, Alvin, being heartbroken of his father dying before finishing his work. Ch 5: Taking it from Pink. Possibly formed when body pink / ghost pink was losing hope for both of their dreams. Pink mentioned that it just randomly appeared on them and they don't want it. In ch 3 when you are in the vents, separated from Kris, you can also find asgore being creepy in Carol's bedroom talking about a shadow crystal. We don't have full context for that, possibly Asgore's broken dream of EVER putting his family back together. perhaps the crystals make people obsessive because obsessing over broken dreams is harmful in general. Broken dream are what they are, broken. You can't get them. Obsessing over making that dream come true is only going to hurt you in the long run. sometimes, you can't fix something. You just have to move on and look for another dream. So why do these shadow crystals show a "layer above"? why do broken dreams do this? Perhaps they represent the death of hope and showing a distorted version of "the truth"? No idea, we might have to wait until ch 6 to release.

What does THIS line mean??

Kris, what the hell do you mean by "someone's ...?" ?? ? ? ? Some theories: -this is Kris' original soul before we came along. They became broken dreams because the player showing up shattered their hope for things to change. that may explain why all of the secret bosses have weird parallels to Kris and why looking through them shows the "true" game above this one. -This is December's soul. this is more flimsy of a theory.

Why the hell is the knight wearing armor made of broken dreams

Theories: -The knight is December and she is being emo as shit (lol) -The knight is December and her being lost for so long basically turned her into broken dream incarnate -The knight isn't a lightener at all, it is a darkner made of the physical manifestation of despair and hopelessness. (this theory has some holes in it due to kris being so damn flakey about opening doors big enough to hold someone) -The knight is Rudy and its the one thing keeping him strong enough to do any of this crap despite being a terminally ill middle aged man. (doesn't explain why the knight was acting like such an asshole lol) I am sorry Rudy knight fans, I really don't understand where the hell you are all going with this one.

All things considered, what IS the true timeline (that we know of so far)

so here is the basis of my theory: 1- original timeline screwed everyone 2- Gaster got involved and summoned a litteral god to help him change the timeline 3- by playing the game normally you are following his plan, but the Weird route is breaking the game like crazy. here is a more complicated version: 1- In the weird route ch 5 I can only assume Noelle was attempting a double suicide with Kris, only to somehow end up breaking the game and going out of bounds. (sidenote: this exact thing might be why Des disappeared) As a chronically depressed person, I relate to Noelle. Often times depressed people can mask and look cheerful, but deep down inside something is very wrong with them. Her father is very sick, her sister is missing and possibly dead, and her mother is emotionally distant at best and potentially abusive. She is basically sleepwalking through life. It just takes us, the player, to push her over the edge. Toby fox is really good at portraying characters with serious depression god damn. 2- what the shadow crystals SHOW in the light world is very fucking weird as well. Here is a potential order of events I have come up with: -kris loses their hand / doesn't exist (yet? or was never meant to?) -they never became friends with Susie -some unknown shenanigans with noelle and whispering -Toriel holding someone else. possibly the player? or another human? -susie never improves because she never connected with anyone Perhaps it isn't the player who is invading this world, KRIS is. Maybe Kris feels absolute existential dread that their existence is because of some unknown circumstances? That maybe their whole life was a lie? (Maybe thats the jevil connection?) We may never know yet, not until ch 6 + 7 confirming some shit. There is some hints that the "pure crystal" is the shadow crystals made by Shawm. You CAN combine it with the thorn ring to make the twisted sword, but it is impossible to get the final shadow crystal at chapter 5. perhaps there is a very very specific path that requires an aborted weird route? 3- Noelle having flavor text for items in ALL chapters despite only appearing once so far I feel like this hints at her always being a part of the game but somehow removed by circumstances (aka susie). This could be toby fox planning ahead for ch 6 but i like my theory better. 4- The girl. and at last, was the girl.

THE SECOND HERO. THE GIRL, WITH HOPE CROSSED ON HER HEART.

LOVE FINDS ITS WAY TO THE GIRL. THE GIRL. THE GIRL.

Listen man it can't be a fucking coincidence that the prophecy shows a sword, something susie HATES using due to how twiggy swords are. or how she is wearing a dress and long hair that resembles Noelle (but no antlers. Maybe noelle sheds them? If Noelle sheds her antlers in the winter that confirms she is trans fun fact, reindeer shed seasonally based on gender). My theory: I think that the girl can be Susie OR Noelle. The image has mixed messages because it can be ANYONE. Love finds its way to Susie in the normal route LOVE finds its way to Noelle in the weird route the prophecy might just be double sided. who the fuck wrote the prophecy? who knows. Possibly gaster, possibly no one. What matters is the shadow crystals and the "layered" theory makes the prophecy have some weirdly interesting implications. 5- In the normal route susie draws 4 people for sans. In the Weird route susie draws 3. this kinda adds proof that the "true" story is what leads to the nightmareish time travel hell that is undertale. It also implies Deltarune is a prequel or in fact, happening at the exact same time as undertale and sans is just juggling two universes at the same time. 6- World's edge resembles waves in the water, possibly hinting at the world border being at the end of the lake

She isn't fed well, she lives possibly alone in an apartment, nobody notices her gone at kris' house, nobody questions that she now lives somewhere else (we know she sleeps in the dark castle now) thats what made susie upset. The only family she has ever known and loved her could be sealed away forever. Where am I going with this? The prophecy is double sided you can literally seal away the darkness, the dark world, the original story or you can seal away the darkness. The lack of hope in the town, the fear of the end of the world, the gloominess surrounding Des' disappearance. the shadow crystals are broken dreams, and we are collecting them and freeing people from the darkness of obsessing over them. we are going to seal THAT away in it's stead. so tell me What if you could get... lighter than light?
