Let us drink and be merry, all grief to refrain. For we may or might never all meet here again.

BGM:
Merry Christmas! Nothing about Christmas here though⦠The title of this comic is a bit long, you can call it Hereās a Health to the Company, an Irish song appears in taverns in Black Flag, and on the Queen Anneās Square in Syndicate. (Sorry I kept the Queenās name, because I think that will always be Queen Anneās Square in Haythamās memory) Inspired by the Morrigan model in Kenwayās mansion. Thank you UBISOFT for putting it there, that means too much for me.
Mother. Father. I am sorry. I have failed you both. I made a promise to protect our people. I thoughtā¦I thought if I could stop the Templars, if I could keep the revolution free from their influence, that those I supported would do what was right. They did, I suppose, do what was rightāwhat was right for them.
As for you, Father, I thought I might unite us, that we would forget the past and forge a better future. In time, I believed you could be made to see the world as I didāto understand. But it was just a dream. This, too, I should have known.
Were we not meant to live in peace, then? Is that it? Are we born to argue? To fight? So many voicesāeach demanding something else.
It has been hard at times, but never harder than today. To see all I worked for perverted, discarded, forgotten. You would say I have described the whole of history, Father.
Are you smiling, then? Hoping I might speak the words you longed to hear? To validate you? To say that all along you were right? I will not. Even now, faced as I am with the truth of your cold words, I refuse. Because I believe things can still change. I may never succeed. The Assassins may struggle another thousand years in vain. But we will not stop.
Compromise. Thatās what everyone has insisted upon. And so I have learnt it. But differently than most, I think. I realize now that it will take time, that the road ahead is long and shrouded in darkness. It is a road that will not always take me where I wish to goāand I doubt I will live to see its end.
But I will travel down it nonetheless. For at my side walks hope. In the fact of all that insists I turn back, I carry on: this, this is my compromise.
Passage found in the Forsaken epilogue.
Sail Away (paused)
Will be working on something new so I have to pause this comic. The story is whole but half of these pages are still drafts and I donāt know when I can finish them, so I posted this paused work here, and will update it slowly when have time.

Happy early birthday, Master Kenway.
In the same vein as my last post- Haytham never ever stood a chance, not one, and as much as he absolutely had the choice to turn back from the violence and refused to make it later on, I can see why he didn't feel able to because for fuck's sake, Birch started in on him when he was eight.
That defenseless little kid was eight goddamn years old when arguably one of the worst, most evil villains in the entire series started working to poison him against his father and all he stood for, and then that same son of a demon made certain that Haytham's father died in front of him when the boy was 10 years old on the same night his sister was abducted and their house burned, thus removing any sense of safety he ever had.
Again- we are talking about a small child being groomed and kidnapped starting at age eight. I'm reasonably certain, too, that his mother was threatened into giving him up and that Haytham was lied to so that he would believe she no longer loved him, thus closing off yet another avenue of support. He then spends the next twenty years denied any friendships not approved by his kidnapper, denied any family at all, being taught to kill and feel no remorse for doing so, even to anticipate praise for it. By the time he finds his sister and realizes what Birch has done to them, he has no friends, he has no support system, he's deeply fucked in the head, and the only family he has left is a woman he barely knows who is also deeply traumatized.
Given all that, is it any wonder at all that he clings to the life and the ideology that he's been brainwashed into believing in?
Yeah, Haytham has it fucked up. By the time he's older and wiser, it feels like he was never a child in the first place. Had to be alone for so long, had all these responsibilities that he had to do. In the end, he's one of the most tragic, loneliest villains in the series. He's corrupted, manipulated, groomed, and only knows how to fight and survive. He tried to love, yet it bit him back in the ass.
Reginald Birch is the top villain in my opinion due to what he did to the Kenway family. If only Edward saw what Birch was thinking... I am glad that Jennifer was the one to kill him, but it kills me deep inside knowing Haytham would never be the same.
I think at the point when he knew he had to die, he knew if he continued on, he would become mentally unstable. This is why I like the Kenway Saga the most. It's not a full story like Ezio's story is, but it still gives us insight into what Edward, Haytham, and Connor had to go through.
āIām so sorry for everything.ā by Ezio.
