Rogie king - illustrator
Rogie King is a great inspiration, she as a range of different illustrations and animated gifs. Above is a few of my favourites, from icon sets to animal illustrations. They are a great inspiration to my own work and inspire when creating my own work. I love the use of textures implemented on the duck and the cactus, it creates a nice effect of feathers on the duck. Also the icon set is great in terms of keeping the same style consistent through each icon.

Ilya Shapko
I really enjoy the work of Ilya Shapko, what really caught my attention was the glowing effects of these illustrations. I came across his work when I was researching various styles for creating my “midnight” garden of birds. I love the use of transparency used throughout each illustration, it gives of a sense of fantasy feel. The use of creating bright vibrant colours with glowing effects gives a nice overall finish. I really enjoy looking at these illustrations as they are a great inspiration towards creating my own personal icons, for example the “midnight garden” that I have carried on from a university project.
Jessica Hische
What really caught my eye to Jessica work was the bird typography style she has created. I would like to experiment with lettering more using the “tombow” brush pens and then bring this into illustrator to prototype with some lettering.
Airbnb
Product Inspiration
Airbnb has a clean user interface, in my experience in using this product I had a positive user experience, I enjoyed going through the website to browse through various different rooms related to my destination. The use of icons throughout this site in my opinion greatly helped me guide through the site. It enabled me to quickly gather information from a quick glance at the icons, rather than having to read through a paragraph. The summary of my booking information is clearly in view beside the information on the apartment.
Work in progress King Fisher - Testing out full opacity to create more contrast in the colours, helping make the colours stand out more prominently.
Landscape - mobile
Master Apprentice exercise
Creating another master apprentice exercise, recreating a mobile background design, this helped me get practice in using “Sketch” and get and idea of how I can create my own styles
Deer
Master apprentice Exercise
Testing out some styles on flat design and colour. I really enjoyed recreating these icon landscapes and experimenting and changing the colour tones etc. This helped me get a better understanding of how I can create my own designs.
Deer
Experimenting with some flat design and creating scenery landscapes. I would like to progress more into this style of illustration in creating more landscape illustrations.
Mountain landscape
Master Apprentice exercise
Recreating landscapes, I have gained a interest in landscapes, so in order to create my own I have tested out how they can be built up. For example the illustration above, you can see how layering up creates a sense of depth, so you are able to see in the distance. I like how the lighting changes on the trees comparing to the mountains as it helps identify the theme being night.
Prototype
This was a recreation of a chicken I did. I did this to help me get an idea of the style I wanted to create for my icons. I found this benefited me in seeing how I can apply this to my own style in my icons.
