Thistles at home being dried out to make tea :-) Going to go help my dad pick some more later. They smell so nice dried out

My dad found that the black snake that lives in the area has shed its skin in the onion patch XD Found it fascinating and it looked small at first but then noticed that it was actually about 1.5m long if not longer as it disappeared under a rock, perfectly harmless snake though, feeds on mice and small rodents only.

Coffee farewell

Finished my placement this week, had really enjoyed working at Totsi by Tota Patsalidou. Have managed to further my skills and obtain useful knowledge for the future, will miss it. Last day was very chilled at work, me and Tota just hung around, asked any other questions I needed to ask as and just talked as she wasn't feeling too well today and about lunch went for a goodbye coffee at Starbucks.

Bows

All that is left to be done now is the headbands for the children's wear so sat doing those today. Really enjoyed making the little headbands, was a very easy and quick job as well. Tota taught me how to even make the bows that went onto the headbands so now I know how to make a fabric bow, hehe. Also took in my evaluation form for Tota to complete for me to get scanned in and ready for hand-in next week :-)

Juice

Finished my hand sewing job and the last few children's wear pieces today, been a laid back day today. Brought in fresh juices for Tota and me today as it was very warm today so we could cool down and be healthy at the same time. Tota had a client come in today for an appointment about a bespoke wedding dress. Finished work early today as it was too hot to work being 35 degrees outside.

Hand Sewing Job

So this week I decided to video what I do. I've been assigned in preparing a dress for an initial fitting. The process includes: do the relevant alterations and cut the fabric from the pattern and hand sewing together all the pieces so it's ready for when the client comes in for their fitting. Tota mentioned hand sewing is better than using the machine as it allows for a looser stitch which is easily broken and better when it comes to fittings. I will be using basting thread to sew up the dress

Time for something younger

Worked on children's wear for the first time today. Found it really tricky trying to close off the armholes but was a good challenge for me and managed to learn a bit about the children's wear business today.

Photos Tota took on Saturday of me helping out during the photo shoot for the Summer/Spring Collection 2014. My responsibilities on the day were to act as dresser for the model, fixed hair a few times, gave the model props when needed, made sure the set looked good and make sure that the clothes sat right on the model.
