Boy: what are you thinking about
My mind: in Fragonard’s “The Swing” (1767), is the man cowering in the bottom left respectfully avoiding a collision or using his seemingly helpful position to look up the swinging lady’s dress and therefore take advantage of her? What could this have to say about the powerless position women were put in during this time due to the “respect” and “care” of their male counterparts? What could this say about so-called “feminist” boys today?
Me: you :)

PAINT RESTORATION OF MESMERIZING
I saw this on Twitter. He’s using acetone, but a cellulose ether has been added to make it into a gel (probably Klucel—this entire gel mixture is sometimes just called Klucel by restorers, but Klucel is specifically the stuff that makes the gel).
Normally, acetone is too volatile for restoration, but when it’s a gel, it becomes very stable and a) stays on top of the porous surface of the painting, and b) won’t evaporate. So it can eat up the varnish.
It looks scary, but acetone has no effect on oils, and jelly acetone is even less interactive with the surface of the paint or canvas.
Will someone PLEASE clean the mona lisa
I literally thought this is what paintings looked like back in those days, I didn’t know it was yellowing varnish 👀
can you believe after so many years of using french’s “c'est la vie” because the nuance doesn’t translate, we’ve finally obtained a flawless translation with “that’s just the way it is on this bitch of an earth"

I can’t wait for Florence + The Machine to release new music so I can use it to perform an exorcism on my whole body and soul and cleanse myself of all the negative energy that’s been holding me prisoner
