Imagine if the Bible started off in scientific language
IN THE BEGINNING, 4.5 BILLION YEARS AGO, PREBIOTIC SYNTHESIS OF AMINO ACIDS OCCURRED IN DEEP-SEA VOLCANIC VENTS AND EVENTUALLY ENDED UP INSIDE OF PROTOBIONTS WHICH THEN SLOWLY THROUGH A RANDOM SERIES OF CHEMICAL EVENTS EVOLVED INTO SINGLE CELLED ORGANISMS

10k Update
Well, a while ago I said I signed up for a 10k and I was nervous and excited. Well it happened. And I was nervous and excited, just as I expected. I trained pretty well for this race, until school started ending, and I started diving classes, and then I got an ear infection which caused me to lay on a couch for a week straight. By the time the race came around I hadn't ran in almost 3 weeks.Ā
But I decided that I had to do this. I would just start off slow. I promised myself I would do this to prove myself. So with a kiss from my boyfriend, I headed towards the start line. As soon as the gun went off I immediately second guessed myself. Why on earth was I doing this? I wasn't ready at all.Ā
But I trucked on.Ā
I finished my first mile in 9 minutes. Normally that's terrible for me, but I knew I had 5 more miles to go. Around mile 3, I knew I had to walk soon. My ear was killing me, plus my old track injury was acting up because I didn't really warm up. So I stopped. I was under the assumption that we would be running back past the start line around mile 4.5, so I started telling myself I'd stop and go to the first aid tent.Ā
Well that never happened because that opportunity never came.Ā
We reached a huge hill. Everyone was walking up it. I took one look and started going. I didn't go fast, but I ran. I wanted to join everyone else so badly, but I would not. I started to tear up when I reached the top and the policeman told me there was just a mile left. I started running faster and faster until my legs would not go anymore lest I trip over myself. I came back into gasworks and saw the finish line where I knew Erik was waiting.Ā
But more importantly I saw the time.
My original goal was under a hour. After I got sick and everything else piled up, I decided I'd be happier with being under 1:30. I was expecting to walk a lot more than I actually did.Ā
I crossed the line at 1:03. Only 3 minutes past my goal. I burst into tears. People patted me on the back and Erik came running up and hugged my sweaty-ness. I couldn't explain what I was feeling. I still can't. There was a sense of accomplishment, a sense of relief of finishing, of school being over, of proving to myself that just because I don't have a job doesn't mean I still can't do something.Ā
I need to do more things like this. Things that prove I'm not worthless at those times where I feel I am.Ā
But the biggest thing I got out of this race?
Don't fucking run a 10k unprepared. You will hate your body for the next few days.Ā
I doodled a thing. [x]
Jawn⦠Jawwwn⦠do you love me yet? Jawnnnnn?
American Shows: ok we're going to show you this pilot... oh ok you like the pilot? That's good, have 20 more episodes. And a subsequent 9 seasons. And the transcripts and deleted scenes and plenty of interviews with the cast. Oh also here's the gag reel, enjoy!
British Shows: Here's four episodes you fuckers, come back in two years and we might have some more done if we can be arsed. If you're lucky.
I will print and use this from now onā¦
And now we have come full circle.

Me changing to run: I don't want to run today.
Me on the treadmill: This is kind of fun actually
Me showering after my run: I am so glad I ran today.
Me arriving home after my run: I AM SO FUCKING GLAD I RAN TODAY I FEEL SO GOOD LIKE I COULD JUST EXPLODE FROM HOW GOOD I FEEL.
Why do I run?
I get asked that a lot. Why do you run? Why do you put yourself through that? And to be honest, sometimes I don't know. I ask myself this question a lot.Ā
To me running was just always something I did. It was an after school sport. I love to compete, but I was never the "best". I won only 2 races in high school, and those were when I was sent to the JV meets for an easy race. The best I ever did in a cross country race was 7th. And I was damn proud of that. Sports in high school were just something to do for me. Don't get me wrong though, I loved the feeling I got when I ran. The feeling of wind, rain, the pain in my body-it meant that I was alive.Ā
Now that I'm older and almost out of college, I've started to run again. I've ran intermittently throughout college, a 5k here and couple miles there, but never anything constant. Until April 15th. I know it may be a bit cliche to say that Boston affected me, but this was a race that I had gone through middle and high school hearing about, dreaming about, and having friends attend it. It's every competitive runner's dream to attend it. Sitting in class and reading article after article to find out what happened, scouring Facebook to see if I had friends there-I realized that running was in my blood.Ā
One week later I went to a Boston run put on my the people I've bought my running shoes from since I was 10. TheĀ camaraderieĀ of everyone there was just amazing. I knew I had to get back running.Ā
When I got my new shoes, I was so giddy to go and try them out. I had planned to the next day, but as the evening came, I still hadn't gone for a run. I looked at my clock and saw it was 7:30 and still gorgeous and light outside. That was my sign to get out there. I ran around the lake and when I finished, I felt like I had been flying. I got back to my car and sat there and started crying. I loved the feeling that was in my body. I wanted to be able to easily run several miles like I was able to back in high school. My ultimate running goal is to do the Nike Women's Marathon (Tiffany necklace from a firefighter in a tux? Yes please!). I did a half in high school at the peak of my track season (terrible idea, never do that) and I felt so accomplished. I've done some random 5ks, but never anything that was competitive-they've all been untimed charity races.Ā
I went home and googled the Seattle Half-Marathon and saw that they also did a 10k race. I knew right then I had to sign up. I needed a goal if I was to continue running. As soon as a pressed complete, I sat there and stared at my computer in shock. I was excited and nervous at the same time. What if I do terrible? Then I realized that I didn't care.Ā
Yesterday I ran around the lake again, this time with a watch. It was a 2.8 mile loop and I was expecting to finish somewhere around 30 minutes. When I looked at the end and saw 24, I thought maybe this wouldn't be as bad as I thought! I went to Runner's World and used their time predictor calculator to see what my time would be for the 10k if I kept that. It would be a 54 minute 10k. So i set my goal.Ā
Right now I'm shooting for under 1 hour. My half marathon time was 1:54 (which is a 7:30 minute mile). If I could get the 10k under 50 min, I will probably start bawling at the finish line. Thankfully the boyfriend will be there to let me sob on <3
So why do I run?Ā
I run because it's a part of my soul.Ā
I run because I'm alive.Ā
I run because I can.Ā
And that's all I need to keep me going.Ā
(If you took the time to actually read all this, I'm really sorry haha. I've been a little stressed out and running has clarified many things and I felt like I had to get this out there. )
Running
I'm so happy I'm getting back into this. Never ever let me stop again. I feel so focused and alive.Ā
New running shoes!Ā
