Christmas Fics!
5687 (Approximately) by prettysailorsoldier
When John's leave request for Christmas is denied, Sherlock is nothing short of devastated, not that he's letting it show. The holiday season now something he's just waiting to end, Sherlock doesn't think anything can possibly make it worse. That is, until he realizes no one in his life believes his army "boyfriend" is even real, but, luckily, everyone is in for a surprise.
All I Want For Christmas by Mssmithlove
Taking Sherlock's platonic university flatmate home with him for Christmas can be a tricky business. Especially when he wishes their relationship wasn't platonic at all.
John Watson's Twelve Days of Christmas by earlgreytea68
It's the holiday season. John Watson needs money. Sherlock Holmes needs something else.
Need vs. Want by Goddess_of_the_Night
Sherlock needs John to pretend to be his boyfriend for Christmas. John has always preferred to be wanted rather than needed, but there's some disagreement between them on the actual difference.
Dropping the Act by jadztone
Sherlock and John are quite happy living together with Rosie in Baker St. They might be even happier if they didn’t act towards each other like their love is only platonic. Mycroft brings troubling news in the form of Mary’s parents wanting to know just what their grandchild’s home life is like. The boys decide to spend Christmas pretending like they are in love in order to seem more like a "normal" family. It's easy enough to pretend when all you're doing is dropping the act.
Tomorrow by Berty
The night before they travel to Dorset to spend Christmas with Sherlock's parents and John's wife, 221 Baker Street is peaceful with the smell of baking, flickering candles and presents under the tree. But Father Christmas can't be relied upon to bring the boys their heart's desires. Just as well Mrs Hudson - who is NOT a fairy godmother OR their housekeeper, thank you very much - is so good at her job.
Untitled Christmas Goose Game by meansgirl (Mystrade)
Greg should have known better than to say the phrase ‘I’ll owe you one,’ to Sherlock Holmes. This was his own fault, really. After four years, he really ought to have learned by now. But Greg had been tired and desperate and Sherlock had been acting like a stroppy child. The words had slipped out and then Greg had immediately forgotten them.
In which Greg agrees to pose as Sherlock's boyfriend at Christmas, finally meets the invisible Mycroft Holmes, catches feelings, and has a very happy holiday indeed.
I wish you a very happy Christmas!
Very angsty fics
Radioactive Trees In A Red Forest by Maribor_Petrichor
John Watson is what happens when a man can no longer see a reason to go on.
John Watson is what happens when a man starts to let go.
"It is what it is."
John Watson is what happens when what "it is" becomes too much to bear.
This is a story of the life, death, and resurrection of John Hamish Watson.
2. In Absentia by SeaweedWrites
Sherlock sends John a mysterious text. We need to talk. 7PM, Baker Street. SH
While John waits for Sherlock to come back to 221B to explain, Sherlock is involved in a terrible car crash, and everyone's lives are irrecoverably changed. Will Sherlock survive?
And the bigger question for John- If he does survive, will he ever be the same?
3. things you wanted to say (but didn't) by spideyxmoriarty
He couldn’t remember what was going on. It had become a bit of a blur. He quickly scanned his surroundings. He was at St. Bart’s. He could see John. There were some people standing around something on the pavement. Were they...? Yes, most of them were from the homeless network. But why were they all gathered up? Oh, it must be a corpse. Surely. Was it Christmas after all?
Then he heard that phrase again. “He’s my friend,” John was saying.
Sherlock leaned in to take a closer look at the corpse, but nothing could’ve prepared him for what he saw: a tall, pale dark-haired man in his thirties, dressed in a suit and an expensive coat, with a significant amount of blood coming out of his forehead. Was he... was he staring at his own body?
An AU where Sherlock died in The Reichenbach Fall. He's come back as a ghost, and only John can hear him.
4. Kitsungi by distantstarlight
Sherlock Holmes becomes estranged from the man he had once considered his best friend after John lets him down horribly in public. It seems that the world's only consulting detective will be on his own once again...or will he?
5. If That's All There Is by meansgirl (mystrade)
The slow-motion breakdown and hard-fought redemption of Mycroft Holmes.
Hope you like it!

Sherlock taking care of John - sickfics
In His Care by BeautifulFiction
It was only a matter of time. John knew that from the start. Now, he stared at the read-out on the thermometer before examining his reflection in the bathroom mirror. A glassy blue gaze stared back at him from beneath the dishevelled nest of his hair. Dark shadows smeared their warpaint beneath his eyes and his skin had an unhealthy, greyish tinge.
John catches Covid-19, and it's up to Sherlock to take care of him within the sanctuary of Baker Street.
2. You Are Never To Scare Me Like That Again by Secretbadass
A chase brings back traumatic memories for John, and a virus leaves him helpless and Sherlock terrified.
3. La petite mort by KittieHill
John is ill which forces Sherlock to care for him. Things happen.
"You're never ill," Sherlock whispered. "And I'm a dreadful doctor."
John smiled at Sherlock and patted his hand. "I'll get some sleep and be better."
"Should I do anything? Cold compress? Warm water? Towels?”
"Sherlock, I have flu, I'm not giving birth," John groaned, realising that asking Sherlock for help may have been a mistake.
4. The Vapor Variant by 88thParallel
They stood face to face in the middle of a clearing. The dim light of the moon barely allowed Sherlock to see the glassy terror in John’s eyes and the sweat that glistened off his forehead. His nose was bleeding again, blood dripping in a slow stream from his right nostril.
They were both gasping for air, John’s eyes locked on Sherlock’s. There was no recognition there, just wild animal fear.
Time stood still for an eternal few seconds, and Sherlock took a shaky breath. “John—”
Spell broken, John spun and bolted back into the woods.
Still heaving for air, Sherlock took off after him.
*translation into Spanish avaliable
5. Breakable by MissDavis
After John is seriously injured, Sherlock struggles to figure out how to help him, keep himself sane, and maybe, just maybe, get their life back to the way it's supposed to be.
A minute later and John was asleep again. Sherlock wanted to wake him up and grab him by the shoulders and shake him and demand that he try to wiggle his toes, kick his legs, stand up and walk. He wanted to weave his hands into John's hair and kiss him until they both couldn't breathe. He wanted to crawl into bed next to him and cry himself to sleep. Instead, he just settled back into the moulded plastic chair, leaving his fingers wrapped in John's, waiting, waiting.

Case Fics!
1. The Thing Is by TSylvestris
The problem with living with Sherlock, John thought, was that you never, never, ever knew the significance of anything. Like your flatmate's nose buried in your hair. Whilst you're in bed.
2. The Edinburgh Problem by snorklepie
“A nice holiday, just a bit more...murdery. ” John said drily.
“Yes! The best kind of holiday!” Sherlock beamed. “So we won’t get bored!”
After he separates from Mary, John returns to Baker Street. Following a request for help from Sherlock's cousin Violet, the detective and his blogger take a trip to Edinburgh. John discovers more about the Holmes family and Sherlock than he bargained for, but tries not to run screaming.
3. 0.2% by Xenay
POTS - Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome
About 0.2% of the world population are diagnosed with POTS, 80% are women between 20 and 40 years. Diagnose factors: a difference in the pulse of over 30 beats between laying down and standing up within ten minutes, and then having a constant pulse of 120bpm or more. It mostly occurs after viral infections or surgeries, and in all forms of EDS.
4. On The Fence by BeautifulFiction
'You fence?' John didn't know why he was surprised, not when it made such perfect sense. 'Well enough to become Cambridge champion?'
'No.' Sherlock didn't look up from his phone. 'Well enough to be British Champion.'
The murder of the King's College fencing champion leads to revelations about Sherlock's past. Will it be the point that tips them from friends to lovers, or will they remain on the fence?
5. The Adventure of the Silver Scars by tangledblue
“All this does not mean that I’m not still basically pissed off with you. I’m very pissed off, and it will come out now and then.” –His Last Vow
It’s been thirteen months since Mary shot Sherlock and John finds he’s still pissed off about it. Sherlock had thought everything was settled: John and Mary, domestic bliss. But when John turns up at Baker Street with suitcases, the world’s only consulting detective might not be prepared for the consequences. A new case. Some old scores to settle. Certain danger. Concertos, waltzes, and whisky.
Hope you like the recs, lmk in the comments!
Medical fic recommendations
Watson's War by Boton
Any situation where John performs some serious surgery on Sherlock, on his own.
Maybe Sherlock is seriously wounded, has an internal bleeding, an organ failure, a ruptured appendix. Maybe it happens when John is at work and Sherlock barely manages to get to him (of course he'd do it instead of going to hospital/calling an ambulance). At this point waiting for about 20 minutes until an ambulance arrives is absolutely ruled out, so John immediately starts working....Still it's not exactly ideal, but John is used to performing surgeries in much worse circumstances. And maybe some tools they have would be his second choice or he even has to improvise, not finding what he really needs....
Anyway, he performs the surgery, saves Sherlock's life and keeps him stable until an ambulance arrives.
Rated T for mild language, mentions of blood, and medical procedures.
2. Lunar Landscapes by J_Baillier
An accident forces John to face the fact that Sherlock's downward spiral had started long before his flight to exile even left the tarmac.
3. Compartmentalised Troubles by BakerTumblings
John Watson is down on his luck and in financial need, and so he finds a job for a home monitoring company. Next client? Mycroft Holmes.
4. Cold Feet by BakerTumblings
Cold feet:
Literally, the sensation of cool or cold lower extremities.
Metaphorically, the apprehension, doubt, or feelings of anxiety specifically when considering a future event.
Conceivably, a person could have both types of cold feet simultaneously.
5. Electric Pink Hand Grenade by BeautifulFiction
"If Sherlock's brain is a hard drive, then these attacks are an electro-magnetic pulse." Sherlock Holmes does not do anything by half, not even a migraine. It falls to John to witness one of the greatest minds he has ever known tear itself apart, and he must do his best to help Sherlock pick up the pieces.

Yours truly,

My only regret with becoming a Johnlock shipper in the ACD Sherlock Holmes/Granada fandom is that I’ve been in it for all of two months and it may have ruined me for almost all other romance. My expectations are just too high now.
Romance is my favorite genre, but it can be so hard to be satisfied when you want your romance to be interesting. Sometimes you just get two characters and the most interesting thing about them is that they’re going to end up together. You see it all the time, especially in mainstream het romance. Sometimes the setup is literally just: “Boy meets girl.” And we’re supposed to stay invested in it. Like, why should I care about these characters as people? Who are they outside their attraction to each other and why should I root for them to be together instead of apart?
And then you get Sherlock Holmes and John Watson. This isn’t boy meets boy. This is neurotypical, bisexual medical man with postwar scarring and PTSD meets manic-depressive, neurodivergent, gay (and possibly graysexual) genius with a drug addiction. Not only is that one of the most interesting setups for romance I have ever encountered - - and I’m not even including the cases here - - but it is just… the most heartwarming and beautiful thing. Ever.
Because if you order your ACD canon on a bed of Granada, my shallow labels don’t even begin to do these characters justice. They don’t cover Holmes’ playfulness and his heroic heart, or Watson’s boyish laugh and his sometimes embarrassing levels of sincerity. Not to mention the never-ending warmth in their eyes whenever they look at each other. And that’s not even the half of it. Any one quirk of their characters that other stories would reduce them to for the angst or excitement just builds these two into round, whole people, who almost feel alive. And they make each other better.
The hilarious part is that the adventures of Sherlock Holmes aren’t even a romance by definition. They’re mysteries and tales of social intrigue - - and yet, the romance is undoubtedly there, so long as you’re keeping your eyes open for it. In Granada, you’re plopped right into the middle of the love story. We get both the adventure of the cases and the domesticity of Baker Street. Between the wild disguises and crazy locales and daring chases, we get a warm room, a meal from Mrs. Hudson, and the easy physical intimacy of two people who live together and love each other deeply.
These characters are so multifaceted and their lives are incredible - - and yet, in a way, it’s to be expected. The extraordinary is everyday for Holmes and Watson because every day is extraordinary. Maybe that’s a bit cheesy, but it’s also terribly interesting.
Which is to say, I’m new, I’m hooked, and I don’t know if I’ll ever be quite as satisfied by anything else. Maybe most other love stories just need 130 years to catch up.
Every single word on this.
All of the above applies as well to BBC Sherlock.
Mrs Hudson fics
Caesura by emilycare
The violin is a retreat that eases the quiet of Sherlock Holmes' solitude. It also speaks for him when he cannot bridge the gaps his defenses create. Moments when music helps Sherlock reach out or let others in, like his stalwart flatmate and, in time, the doctor's daughter.
Five+ times Sherlock Holmes played the violin, and one time he did not.

Bad Mary fics
For today's trope we have fics in which Mary is not the most appreciated character.
1. Wrapped in the Yellow Jack(et) by Cattywampus
When Sherlock returns 18 months after The Fall, John doesn't think he can forgive his ex-flatmate. But he's shocked when he finds out about his friend being carted off to the hospital by an obsessed and infatuated media circus. What was originally brushed off as the common case of the flu turns out to be far deadlier and brings to light all sorts of dark secrets about Sherlock's time away.
2. Before You Know It by LollipopCop
John hates how his life turned out, and mourns the lost potential between him and Sherlock.
So when he's given a second chance, transported back to the night Sherlock returned from the dead, John must make good use of it.
3. Recovery by thesignsofserbia
Set after the confrontation with Mary, and Sherlock's cardiac arrest, John stays at 221B to aid Sherlock's recovery, forcing them to confront wounds both old and new as they try to heal their damaged relationship.
4. Those Nights We Sought All The Words by ConsultingPurplePants
John has been living with Mary again for over a year with their daughter when he makes a discovery that changes everything.
He seeks shelter at Baker Street, but after all this time, will Sherlock take him back?
Throughout this fic, Sherlock will sometimes speak French. In order to view the English translations, simply hover the cursor over the text, and the translation should appear as a mouseover text
5. White Tulip by withoutawish
Sherlock is in love with John Watson. John Watson is in love with Mary Morstan. Sherlock likes Mary Morstan just fine. Sherlock likes drugs more. And most importantly, Sherlock doesn’t like Sherlock.
String theory dictates the laws of the universe. But their story isn’t one that can be boxed up neatly, tied in a heartstring bow.
"After all, the axioms of homeostasis dictate that an infinity sign of negative feedback can only loop back in on itself.”
tw this one doesn't have a happy ending if I recall correctly :/
Hope you like it!
I loved you, Mary
was the title of my first-ever work in the Sherlock fandom.
It is a letter written by John to Mary, after her death, never to be sent, never to be read. I imagine he went to her grave, read it out and burned it,
Hints of Johnlock, an open ending.
If you have not read it, you can find the link here.
Have a nice day!
Rosie Fics
Hi all,
for today's post, there will be fics in which Rosie plays a large part.
Wednesday (the best day of all) by UnrelentingHost
Sherlocks picks up Rosie from daycare like he does every Wednesday, but today he's not Sherlock anymore. Apparently he's 'Daddy'. Fuck, what to tell John?
2. The Only Thing Worth Fighting For by KittieHill
“It’s alright, it’s going to be alright,” John insisted, his hand pressing on the gunshot wound at Mary’s chest. Neither he nor Sherlock would ever mention the irony of the location of her gunshot wound.
“The baby,” Mary muttered weakly, her eyelashes fluttering.
“She’s going to be fine,” John nodded, grabbing Sherlock’s hand and ordering the younger man to keep hold whilst John pulled the arm from his pyjama shirt to press against the wound.
“Forgive me,” Mary whispered, her teary eyes focussing on Sherlock before closing and reopening, allowing a trail of wetness to run down her bloodstained cheek. “Sherlock.”
“Stop this silly talk,” Sherlock said, attempting his best ‘everything-is-definitely-going-to-be-okay’ voice.
“Sherlock, say it,” Mary wheezed, her breathing becoming more laboured.
3. Becoming Us (A reunion in three parts) by addicted2hugh
After watching Mary's last message, Sherlock and John try to be the "Baker Street Boys" again. Rebuilding the destroyed flat is the easy part. Will they manage to rebuild their friendship as well? And what did Mary mean when she said: "And if I'm gone, I know what you could become."?
Warning: Mentions of violence, drug addiction, and self-harm.
4. Forward Momentum by Bluebuell33, ohlooktheresabee
After the events of Sherrinford, the Holmes family is forever altered. Mycroft no longer has anything to hide, but instead must find a way to win back his brother's trust. Sherlock is faced with truths about himself long-buried, and both of the brothers Holmes realize that their positions in the world are no longer as fixed as they might have seemed.
Along with these realizations come new opportunities. Mycroft finds himself drawn to Inspector Lestrade, and now that all his secrets have been laid bare he finds he doesn't want to hold back anymore. Sherlock too begins to find it harder and harder to remember why he has been repressing his desires - especially when he is around his best friend, John Watson.
The past is a dark and melancholy place, and neither Holmes wants to return there - so it's time now to push forward, and take a chance on something brighter.
Note - this one is both Johnlock and Mystrade ;)
5. If Equal Affection Cannot Be by blueink3
Sherlock fled London a couple of years after John left him in hospital with nothing but an old walking stick and a half-hearted goodbye.
Rosie grew up thinking that Sherlock died when he committed suicide in front of her father by jumping from Barts' roof.
So it's somewhat awkward when they run into each other in a Sussex general store between the loaves of bread and the Mars bars...
Follow for more and don't forget to save for later!

Hi folks,
I found myself in need of another platform (a backup if you will) for my instagram page. I still love sharing photos, but will try to post on here as well.
I should introduce myself, shall I? The name is kaths, the address is @kaths221b on ao3 if you would like to check out my works. I am a fanfic writer, for both Johnlock and Mystrade. I'm not an English native speaker, but I am training to be an English-Spanish-Polish translator so... Guess I have to represent some kind of standard hah. At least I hope so.
I aim to post weekly on Fridays, fic recommendations that come in bundles sorted by topics.
I think I covered everything, yeah.
