Fantastical creatures and how they’re all wrong

Mermaids: fish or mammal? Their tail fins are a whale’s or a dolphin’s - but they have scales. Highly illogical I say. Winged dragons with four legs: insects? Since they have six extremities. Centaurs: what do they eat and how do they digest their food? How can they even manage to stuff themselves with enough food to keep a huge equine body going?
