dominicxfitzgerald:
Dominic hadn’t been paying much attention so when his drink slipped off the bar, he glanced down at the floor. He slipped off his stool almost instantly and moved to start picking up the glass as he lifted his eyes up towards the woman, chuckling at her words. “Don’t worry about it. It’s alright.” He moved to put the pieces of glass on top of the surface of the bar until one of the employees took over. He stood up, wiping his hands on his jeans as he smiled at her. “Accidents happen.”
Katrina swallowed, apologizing and thanking the employee who was taking care of her mess. Looking back up at the stranger, she double checked to make she her clumsiness hadn’t caused any damage to his outfit or those near by. Thank goodness, she thought. “Still though, I’m sorry. At least let me buy you another drink...or a refill of whatever you were having? Promise not to spill that one.” Kat offered with a soft smile. Try not to spill it Kat, try.
jacksdunnit:
Having something spilled on him was not an unfamiliar feeling by any means, but the shock came from who it was. Sure, he had been out of town for a while, and for the past few years had been more than slightly obsessed with his work. Madison was small, though, so how did he not recognize this face? So he was more surprised by the fact he didn’t know who this woman was than the fact that he had a drink soaking into the bottom of his jeans and on the top of his boots. “Hey, hey, hey,” he said as she began to incessantly apologize. He waved his hands at her quickly to suggest it was no big issue. Really, it wasn’t. It wasn’t like he was in his Sunday best out at the brewery for the evening. “Don’t worry about it,” he said and turned his head, raising a hand and motioning for someone to throw him a few napkins to at least try and mop up the spill. “Yeah, this is Hopped Fox,” he added on and tilted his head at her slightly, questioning why she had to ask. “Were you expectin’ a bait and switch or somethin’ like that?”
“Still....really sorry...and uh no no. Wasn’t expecting that.” Kat mumbled grabbing a few napkins as well and placing them on the floor to move them with her shoe before bending down and retrieving them. Wasn’t expecting to be so clumsy this evening either, she wanted to admit. Holding the dirty napkins in her hands, Katrina looked for a trashcan but was thankfully saved by an employee behind the bar who took it off her hands. Giving them an apologetic smile and a soft ‘thank you,’ the raven haired woman turned back to look at Jack. Glancing down at his boots which had gotten wet-an item she wasn’t quite familiar with but saw a lot of in this place-Kat asked, “Did they get ruined? I’ll pay for the damages if thats the case?” She, on the other hand, had arrived with plain black flats; high heels were something she wasn’t in the mood for tonight and the only “boots” she owned were not even boots but called “bootie boots.”
musingsteviex:
though most wouldn’t assume upon first glance , stevie had always been bit of beer drinker . it started back in her teens , building up enough of a tolerance over time to handle her beer & liquor ( she was thirty now , which meant her tolerance wasn’t the same as it was back in college ) . when the hopped fox brewery opened up , she found herself indulging in locally brewed beers once , sometimes twice a week . she did enjoy herself glass of wine , too , but that was when she was staying in much preferred with a couple of lit candles , a rom - com or horror movie on the tv , company or not ( drinking alone wasn’t as depressing as she once thought ) .
for the first time this week ( she’d been pretty busy traveling to savannah a couple extra times than the usual this week ) she was finally able to sit back & breathe with an ice cold , freshly poured beer in front of her . it was times like this that got her through her busy weeks . she was alone , but as she’d gotten older , she learned to appreciate these moments rather than seeking out company . the place had a decent amount of customers nothing out of the ordinary , although when another person hit her drink , spilling it all over stevie’s jeans & blouse … well , that was out of the ordinary . “ oh , my god! ” stevie yelps out , immediately standing as if attempting to dodge the spilled beer that had already spilled over her . her first thought was that she was so damn glad she didn’t wear her chiffon blouse that she was considering earlier that evening . “ that is - fucking cold , ” she huffs out , the smallest of chuckles under her breath . “ i think some napkins is what i need right now . ” stevie states , reaching for the couple that she’d been given when she ordered her drink & begins wiping at her dampened clothes . “ another drink , too that’d be much appreciated . ” she forces herself to flash the woman a smile . she wasn’t mad per se , but rather a bit … taken by surprise ( she wasn’t very keen on surprises which in turn had her a tad irritable ) .
Katrina was prepared for several of ways this could have gone. The person could have cursed and turned around to leave without another word. The person could have snapped back and demanded she pay for the damaged done to the outfit. The person could have laughed it off and excused herself to go to the bathroom. Or the person could have demanded for some other sort of favor in return for ruining their evening/night; Katrina was sure there were other possibilities also but those were the first that came to mind. This person so far, from what Katrina could tell, seemed mixed.
Biting her lip hard, Kat listened to Stevie’s observation of the cold drink against her skin and winced a little knowing that feeling all too well. “I’m so sorry!” Quickly as well, her hands searched for more napkins on nearby tables and handed them over to Stevie. “What kind of beer were you having? Or, do they only serve one kind here?” She asked, knowing that back home it would feel like a hundred of choices to choose from. It’s not like Kat would have been much help when it came to beer anyway-she tended to always choose wine. Just take the empty bottle and ask for another at the bar Katrina, her thoughts ordered, but Kat seemed to be ignoring the obvious at this time.
jordanxkirby:
Jo had just been finishing up for the night, Logan having long gone home for the night, but she hadn’t been able to drag herself away from the softball game until it was finished. And Lord, did it drag on longer than it needed to be. It’s not like it wasn’t a new game. From the beginning of March to the end of April, all Jo did was participate in softball and yet, even when the bar was playing a rerun of a game, she couldn’t tear her eyes away from the screen. At least not until liquid wet the clothes she was wearing. She flew from her seat, a squeal pressing her lips apart as she looked at the woman who had spilled the drink on her. Jo’s first reaction was to be terse, to snap at the other person out of pure frustration. She could be a little strong headed, but no, the woman seemed genuinely sorry and it cooled the fire that rushed through her veins in an instant. “It’s,” she paused, looking down at her clothes. She figured they weren’t ruined, but just very wet. “It’s fine,” she tried to give the woman a small smile as her shoulders fell with a sigh. “Nothing a good wash can’t fix.”
Kat mentally slapped herself a few times still not understanding where her clumsiness was coming from. Looking down at the woman’s outfit, she met her eyes again and gave an apologetic smile offering, “At least let me give you money for what it’ll coast for dry cleaning? Unless you don’t do that, which is fine, I’ll still pay for, say a new outfit? Incase the stains don’t come off?” At times, the raven haired woman preferred that the other got upset and wanted something in return automatically; but then again, it was quite possible Katrina was simply used to people behaving that way from where she was from. Some people in New York or L.A. weren’t always greedy for something in return but, at least those Kat ran into were. You’re definitely going to need more time to adjust to this town, she told herself and handed Jo some napkins she found laying on a table next to them. “I’m sorry again....”
greer-fontanella:
Greer had watched the woman walk in, but she had finally looked away just as a drink fell to the floor near her. Looking down at her jeans, she waved her hand at the woman’s comments. “It’s fine, really. Trust me, you work in a gas station long enough and you learn to let just about anything fly.” Greer took the woman in, smiling at her. “Yeah, it is. Things around here are pretty easy to find when it comes to readin’ the signs. We don’t do a lot of hidin’ or anything.” She knew she wasn’t from around here, which only made Greer more interested to learn about wherever she’d come from. “I’m Greer. You’re new, right?” @katrinalunaaddams
A small sigh of relief passed through Katrina’s body internally. Smiling though, she nodded towards Greer. “Really sorry though…” Her eyes then drifted to the employee who had quickly started to pick up any pieces that had fallen or wiped away the alcohol. To them, Katrina also apologized and offered an apologetic smile as well. Turning back towards Greer, she titled her head and asked, “A gas station huh? How long have you worked there?” It was then she shook her head letting out a gentle laugh and stretched her hand out to introduce herself as well, “Sorry, I’m Katrina, Katrina Addams. And yeah….quite new actually. Can I buy you another drink? As an apology for your wet jeans?” Couldn’t just say jeans could you? she thought, mentally slapping herself.
latinxfirefighter:
A wet cloth, was rarely something that would ruin his day, especially when he had to go through far worse, but he had to admit that having a drink all over his clothes, was not exactly something pleasant, and it was definitely something that he would like to avoid. He knew that it would be kind of hypocrite to be mad at her though, as he knew that the possbility of he doing something similar like that, was very high, actually, it happened before, and since he knew how it was to be yelled at, and having someone call you names, because of it, he wouldn’t ever do it, besides, it was just clothes, and he knew that she didn’t mean to do it, “It’s okay,” he gave her a light smile, “It happens, I know how it is to be clumsy, if you hadn’t done it, I would have done it with myself sooner or later.”
Hearing his cool response caused the raven haired woman to laugh and shake her head. “I wish that was how several people in my past had replied to incidents like this. Not that I’ve had lots of them too often-I had to learn pretty quickly how to avoid incidents like this….but I guess I’m still getting used to it here....” Kat rambled and forced herself to stop and placed a polite smile on her lips as well. “Still, I’m really sorry. Uh, can I give you money for a new shirt? Or I could get you another drink, whatever it was you were having? Unless you were getting a drink for someone else, then in that case I’d still pay for their drink.” Kat offered, looking for napkins to at least hand over to help the drying process along.
devotcdchris:
Chris’s shift had been a little slow, he rarely left his spot at the bar but did so a couple of times to wipe down messy tables, keeping himself busy. He wiped one last table before new customers could sit and he walked back towards the bar, empty glasses and wet rag in hand. His eyes were still scanning the room, making sure there wasn’t anything else he could do while he was at it, and he was too distracted to notice the woman’s sudden movement and avoid it. Just like that, his shirt was drenched, but he’d luckily still held onto the empty glasses.
At first, frustration began to bubble up inside of him, but the woman’s sincere confusion and apology calmed him down. “Woah, woah, ma’am, please, no need to worry. I’ll dry off in a second. It’s good to keep a change of clothes nearby when you work around alcohol,” he tried to calm the tension with a small smile, and quickly set the empty glasses on the bar top next to them as he listened to her and remarked, “You’re not from around here, huh?” He knew Madison like the back of his hand, but having been gone for a decade, he definitely understood feeling out of place, and he could sense her discomfort. “How about after I get changed I get you another drink, on the house? Looks like you might just need it right now.”
Katrina was this close to continuing to apologize when the words ‘ma’am’ froze her. “Ma’am? Do I look that old already?” She groaned a little and sighed the thoughts away. Bringing her attention back to the strangers wet clothing, she looked up at him letting the knowledge of him working here sink in. “You work here? Shit, I’m so sorry…if your boss says anything about why you’re walking around half wet, just blame it on me or point him-or her-in my direction and I’ll clear it all up! Promise.” She offered, knowing very well how certain companies or owners weren’t always the greatest with how they treated their staff during work; she would know since that was normally one of several reasons she never hired a certain company to cater again and ended up helping find certain employees a different job afterwards.
Now, however, Katrina’s frown was obvious as she looked at him confused. “On the house? Isn’t it supposed to be the other way around? Me buying you guys something for the spilled alcohol on the floor?” Was this really how small towns worked? Or did the employee simply want to go and change and let her apologize to someone else?
sadie-rae-james:
Sadie excused herself from the table and headed toward the bathroom. She needed to fix her hair and check her text messages. All of that was halted when someone else spilled a drink on her. For a second, she was stunned, and then she was cold from the ice inside her shirt. There were too many clumsy people in Madison for it to be safe. It was a wonder the whole town hadn’t crumbled already. Sadie glared at the strange girl, not the best in moments like this. “You have got to be friends with Juliana Dunn, I just know it,” she grumbled, remembering a similar incident with Juls last week. The girl was obviously sorry, so she couldn’t be too mean. “Chill out. If you keep talkin’ so much you’re gonna run out of words. Just lose your voice completely.”
Kat blinked a few times before answering, “Dunn? I’m sorry, I’m afraid I don’t know who that is….” She gave a hopeless shrug and quickly reached over to the bar where the napkins stood. Taking a handful, she handed them to the woman in front of her. “Run out of words? That’s gonna be pretty hard for me…” She added with a small smile; her job consisted of selling a person of an idea with just words. “Again, I’m really really sorry. Like I said, I’ll pay for a new shirt or-or a drink for you to take back to your table? Or at your seat at the bar?” God damn Kat, shut it already. Her thoughts ordered but they only caused her to mentally smirk and add, Never.
Oh, I got new curtains! (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, 2005)
audreymatt:

When her closest friend from L.A told Audrey she was coming to Madison, she was gladly surprised; Katrina wasn’t exactly a small town girl so on one hand it would be intersting to see if she got used to her hometown, on the other hand, she was happy to have her friend closer as skype worked for so long, Kat hadn’t even seen the baby until she came so it was huge for Audrey that she temporarily moved to Madison.
“So, have you gotten used already?” She asked her friend. “How are you liking Madison so far? Did you enjoy the ball? I’m sorry I forced you to go and barely spent time with you. Those girls needed more help than I thought.” Audrey rolled her eyes.
Katrina loved being around Audrey as well as her daughter; she was planning on being the child’s fairy godmother or favorite aunt, whether or not Audrey accepted her for such positions. But as the child slept, Katrina laughed softly leaning against Audrey’s couch in the living room and brought her glass to her lips first. Feeling the liquid slide down, she closed her eyes and gave her friend a semi-helpless look. “I have not gotten used to it. At. All. I just don’t get it? Like....I’ve lived in New York City and L.A. for crying out loud!”
Giving her best friend a soft smile, she lazily waved off her apology. “Oh don’t worry about it. Those girls, along with everyone else in this town, would probably be helpless if it wasn’t for your goddess techniques.” She complimented with a wink and then gave a small shrug. “The ball was...fine I guess? It was a chance to observe. People as well as the decor a place like this is used to.”
Location: hopped fox brewery When: Whenever (day/night) @madison-starters
How a small town such as this one was throwing her off, Katrina Addams didn’t know. Sure, she’d only been here a few weeks so far but the woman was used to learning a hundred things at once in less time. Regardless, she knew it was time to go out and continue exploring-alone.
But what a mistake that had been. Whether it was her fault from moving too quickly in a slow paced town, or the other’s fault for whatever reason, Katrina’s movement had caused the drink to fall on the others outfit/table/floor. Automatically, out of frustration and embarrassment, Kat covered her face and then quickly looked at the unfortunate soul; their outfit was ruined or at least not as dry as it once was. What a damn klutz Katrina. Like really, come on! Katrina could handle taxis and nonstop commotion all around her in big cities; so why the hell not a towns bar such as this one? “Shit! I am so so sooo damn sorry! Please, let me....um, I’ll pay for the damages or buy you another drink. This is Hopped Fox Brewery right? I mean I know the sign said so outside but...just making sure you know?” The last question wasn’t necessary but Kat needed to keep her lips moving and saying whatever came to mind first. The woman let out a shaky breath, shaking her head adding, “Again, I’m so sorry about that....” she gestured to where she had caused a large spill and knew tonight shouldn’t have been one for going out.
charlie-hopkins:
The laughter bubbling out of her was born more out of blunder than anything malicious. She didn’t care much to be on the shit list for the staff, but then she didn’t exactly plan on making a repeat appearance the next year. She nodded at Katrina’s words though. “I’d be a goner for sure if that had happened. Those Belles aren’t to be trifled with.”
Raising an eyebrow, Katrina looked around at all the possible Belles and chuckled with a shake of her head. “I bet....” she mumbled and took another sip of her drink, returning to the table to see which piece called out to her. Something that isn’t too messy, she thought. Maybe nothing at all. “I only hope their attitude isn’t as bitchy as some of their faces look.” Kat added and turned her attention back to Charlie.
addison-mcdaniel:
The woman beside her was unfamiliar and anytime that Addison saw a new face in town she wondered how in the hell they ended up in a tiny town like this one. She’d have never even known this place existed if she wasn’t born and raised here. “I can tell you’re new.” Addi smiled, setting her glass down on the bar top and looking over at her. “Ain’t all that many unfamiliar faces in Madison.”
Kat smiled politely and held out her hand. “Katrina Addams. I’ve only been here about a week or so-still settling in. I’m assuming you must know everyone in town then? If you can tell apart faces?” The woman teased with a playful smirk and then gestured to her own black dress which exposed a majority of her back. “Or was it the dress that gave me away? Seems I didn’t get the memo quite right; everyone’s wearing large puffy dresses....”
