TRAVEL DIARY: MACAU

The next day we travelled to Macau! It was around an hour away from HongKong via ferry. So close, you shouldn’t miss it. 

First stop: VENETIAN HOTEL. The hotel is too pretty to put into words. Picture perfect in every angle. 

Macau is a small city with a vibe that makes you wanna spend money. Honestly. Shopping everywhere you look. Play the casino if you want too. 

But having said so, for tourists like us, always be weary of the people around you. Some pickpockets almost had a chance to stole something from us during our stay here.

Macau is a tiny city decorated in vibrant colors. You can easily get around via free hotel shuttle buses, or simply just walking. 

Walk your way into SENADO SQUARE, and explore. literally just explore. You’ll find many shops, and food places in here. Try Macau’s delicacies!

As the night approaches, the lights go up and everything becomes even more beautiful. 

It’s been a nice quick 1 day trip, MACAU! Thanks for being incredible. We then went to catch the last ferry trip to Hongkong and walked back home with new memories to share!

Exploring Hongkong

I’ve been to HongKong previously but it was the first time i was here with a friend. This trip was so spontaneous---it was crazy.

This all happened a week before i started working. I was in that state where i wanted to say goodbye to stress-free days and this so-called student life so i wanted to end it with a bang. Called up Vheniz if she’s up for a quick trip and thank god she was! It was her first time in Hongkong and i was more than happy to tour her around haha

HongKong is a lot like MAKATI, just a lot cleaner, and more vibrant. I did plan our itinerary beforehand so we can make the most out of the trip and the first stop was---THE PEAK TRAM. 

We arrived at the hotel around 4-5 in the afternoon and i thought this would be the perfect time to explore around and visit the peak tram. We also stopped by Madame Tussauds to kill some time before taking a peak at HongKong’s night skyline. 

Ofcourse, the usual personalities were there. 

BUT low and behold, The One Direction wax figures were also there!!! HAHA Me and my friend have been a fan of the band so we definitely had fun posing around these wax figures like a 9 year old meeting her crush. 

SURREAL.  After all that, we felt hungry so we had dinner at one of the restaurants at the tower. 

Some good old curry tonkatsu! After dinner, we finally went upstairs enjoy the breathtaking view of the skyline. It started raining so it was literally freezing cold out there!

The next day started early with some shopping in MONGKOK. Our hotel was situated near Prince Edward Station and mannnn the shopping there is insane!

One of my favourite shop was KISS! We came back here plenty of times ---the owner recognizes us whenever we pay ! I swear if you’re shopping around Mongkok, hunt down this store!

We then headed out to the happiest place on earth---DISNEYLAND!

I’ve been to disneyland plenty of times now with my parents but i have to say going here with a friend is so much more fun! Felt like a kid again!

And that’s it for DAY 2! 

The following day, we had an agenda. SHOP TILL WE DROP---

Ofcourse, we stopped by KISS again! Oh and also, don’t forget to bring your own shopping bags when shopping in Hongkong! It is very convenient, if you don’t wanna pay for the bags. 

We were here during the time the Adidas Stan Smith’s and Originals were such a huge hit that it was impossible to get it in the Philippines without paying the overpriced resellers. I remember being so stoked because they were literally everywhere in hongkong. 

It was a long day of shopping around Mongkok, Central and Causeway bay. 

Too long that i ended up with 3 pairs of shoes in one night.

HONGKONG vlog

I have fallen in-love with vlogging trips/adventures. There’s something about documenting things through videos that brings you back to that moment you were actually there. The feeling you get is so much better than the feeling you get when looking at photos. I still love photography, that’s a no-brainer. 

But videos just makes reminiscing 10x better.

Coral Tones

i don’t know about you but i love the colour coral. It’s a little bit tricky to pull off, but the thing is you just have to find the right tone of Coral that works for your skin tone :) 

Pick a lovely foundation for that perfect base, a swipe of eyeshadow all over the lid + a streak of clean cat eyeliner and a dash of mascara. No blush, just a swipe of highlighter on the high points of your cheeks and lastly, finish off with a coral lipstick.

JUNE favourites

We’re halfway through 2016. WAIT, WHAT!?

as the months passed, i won’t deny i’ve neglected this little diary of mine. It has been way too long and i felt like i needed to write again. So to get me back to writing let’s start this off real quick with some new finds in the beauty department! 

I have found some gems both in the luxury brands and highstreet brands with regards to makeup and i am beyond excited to share this with you. 

#1 KYLIE LIP KITS

These are so hyped up right now and so if you haven’t even heard about this, HAVE YOU BEEN LIVING UNDER A ROCK? These are the liquid lipstick-lip liner combo that Kylie Jenner has released over at her website a couple of months ago. Now the multi-million dollar question is: is it worth all the hype?

In my opinion, YES THEY ARE. They are bloody expensive for a lip product especially if you’re getting it here from the Philippines (ph shipping charges sucks). TBH I was one of those people who stalked Kylie’s social media accounts to find out when these restock so i can get my hands on these. The colors are all so beautiful! A lot of people say you can find lots of dupes for her colors- but honestly, it’s not the same. The formula of the Kylie Lip Kits are so good it doesn’t dry up your lips. I would admit it doesn’t last all day ( i expected it would) but it lasts a good amount of time in comparison to others. 

#KAT VON D Shade and Light Contour Palette

In the world of contouring, this is one of the most coveted product out there. I was lucky enough to get this from one of mama’s cheeky little trip to Sephora. 

The palette is so versatile that i use all these colours for so many different things. I don’t particularly use this just for contouring--most of the time these colours i also wear as eyeshadow. It’s so pigmented and the formula is buttery soft it’s definitely fit for that holy grail contour/bronzer/warm everything kinda palette! You can sort of tell i use this a lot by how it looks now haha

#3 SLEEK Solstice Palette

And finally... *drumroll* this hidden gem from the highstreet brands--- THE SLEEK SOLSTICE PALETTE!

YESSSS finally something available locally! *wink* 

If you’re looking for a good highlighter, then go straight to any SLEEK counter near you and swatch this baby. This is the kind of highlighter that’s gonna give you that BAM ! highlight. It has 1 cream & 3 powder highlighters and a brush (but it’s crap so i threw that away). These are so so pigmented people are gonna see your glow from far far away.  

For the price, it is unbelievably good. I used this once when i did a model’s makeup for a photoshoot and oh my god---HIGHLIGHT ON FLEEK.

#Getthelook GOING GREY

Don’t be afraid to experiment on makeup looks. It’s an ART and it is a way of expressing yourself. Your face is your canvas, you can paint on it however way you want. Have fun with it. Wear it because you like doing it, not for anyone but yourself.

My favorite way of doing it is through different lip shades. I have 2 moods: dark/vampy lips to nude lips. Sometimes i go for the extreme, like today i wore a gray lipstick. Who says you can’t?

If you haven’t noticed already from the previous #getthelook tutorials that i did. It goes something like this. The trick is, If you’re going for a bold lip color, the rest becomes minimal. You end up using less products. You need the focus to be on the lips.  

Today i used the CHANEL Vitalumiere Aqua Foundation as the base. If you have not tried this foundation before, YOU SHOULD. It’s the one of the best ones out there. The formula is just amazing. It definitely has that luxury quality. 

Milani’s Luminoso blush was perfect for this look because the colors very subtle yet it makes the cheeks look glowy and healthy. Added some liquid eyeliner of course to finish of the look. 

And of course, the lips. LA Splash Ghoulish. It has a greyish-purple undertone that can be quite intimidating when worn on the lips. It makes such a bold statement in person so have some extra confidence when wearing this! haha 

LA Splash was the first brand i’ve tried on the liquid lipstick department and it’s what got me hooked. I first heard about it from an international makeup artist named Wayne Goss. He says if you’re looking for a lip product that’s gonna stay put all day, it’s the perfect product for you. Gave it a go, and damn he was right. These liquid lipsticks are not kidding when it comes to their staying power. The only thing some people might not like about this is that they are extremely matte and a little drying on the lips. If you’re interested in trying it, You can get LA Splash online from @Velvetkissboutique or at The Ramp Crossings! They even made a lip collection inspired by harry potter! HOW CAN YOU NOT CHECK IT OUT SERIOUSLY HAHA

#Getthelook: Peachy

If anyone has a go-to look, this would probably be mine. It takes a lot more product to recreate but it’s definitely something very easy to pull off. 

I love Peach toned makeup products because it is very versatile. It can go from Summer to the holiday seasons. If you’d like to recreate this look, keep reading! 

Here are the products i used on my face for this look:

From L-R NARS Sheer Glow; Benefit Hoola; Benefit Rockateur; Wet and Wild Megalast Lipstick in Bare it All; K-Palette Real Lasting Liquid Eyeliner

I used the NARS Sheer Glow as my base (which side note: i still don’t like at all! but gotta use it up because dang it is expensive). Add some bronzer around your face to give it that sun kissed glow. Hoola Bronzer by Benefit is my favorite one to use because it is the perfect shade for a bronzer. Not too orange, and not too brown that it makes your face look muddy! Just the perfect tone. it’s matte as well!

For the eyes, i used the Rockateur blush all over the eyelids and Hoola bronzer on the crease. Multitasking products is a trick you can do to get the bang out of your buck. To complete the eye look, i just added some liquid eyeliner! The K-Palette Real Lasting Liquid Eyeliner is a good one if you’re on the hunt for some good drugstore eyeliners on the market! 

Dusted a little bit of Benefit’s Rockateur blush on the cheeks again to give my skin some color. On the lips i have been loving the Wet and Wild Megalast Lipstick in Bare it All. These lipsticks retail for 299php but i swear they are matte but so creamy and pigmented. The packaging is a little crappy but the product is just ace! Definitely recommend!

#getthelook: BERRY LIPS

The Fall season has always been that season that gets me really really excited. Ironic, since we don’t even have it here. Fall signifies everything exciting is about to come. The holidays! Also, it’s this time of the year when dark berry/red wine coloured lipsticks come out to play. 

As the year goes by, i become paler and paler. Not complaining because Vampy Lips and Snow-white skin is always a good combo. But that doesn’t mean that not anyone can rock the dark red lip look. Here are some tips and tricks to pull it off!

First thing you need is a flawless base. I used the Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous foundation in the lightest shade(that’s how pale i am! haha). It’s a great drugstore alternative if you cannot afford to spend much on makeup. The coverage is medium to full and stays put all day. it goes on very creamy but dries completely matte. Gives your skin almost like a powdery finish. 

With this makeup look, the lips is the main focus. Make sure to choose a shade of red that compliments your skin tone. I recommend darker berry colours because it suits almost any skin tone and also makes the teeth appear whiter.  

M.A.C. Diva or the NYX Copenhagen is what i usually go for whenever i want to achieve this look. Sometimes i even combine both. This M.A.C lipstick shade retails for around 1000php which some people may find expensive. 

DUPE ALERT: The NYX soft matte lip cream in Copenhagen is a perfect alternative since it’s way cheaper but almost exactly the same in color. They’re both good in my opinion so i totally recommend both! 

For that little extra: Add a winged eyeliner ! It’s a very simple look that i’m sure anyone can recreate!

Dressed like Tommo #StyleDiary

Colored jeans are so last season. SO WHAT. I recently got this red pair from MANGO and i’m buzzing that i did! In my opinion---It’s coloured jeans-reinvented. When i spotted this in the shop, not gonna lie i bought it in different shades. It’s not your typical coloured denim. It has a wash to it that makes it look like it’s leather---when it’s not. Feels like a soft leather when touched, but i’m pretty sure it’s not. 

The fit is absolutely nice as well and it’s pretty comfy too.The pair is available in different shades and it comes in the classic Black, White, Red, Navy & Army Green. 

I decided to pair it with a striped top because i was feeling nostalgic as i was watching some old 1D videos the other night and the red jeans reminded me of Louis Tomlinson’s TMH tour outfit from 2013 hahaha

With the rainy season in full swing, a pair of waterproof shoes comes handy. These Dr. Martens 1460 Classics are the perfect ones to wear if you wanna be stylish in some rain boots. They’re not necessarily marketed as such but since owning them, i’ve come to realize it’s definitely good for that!

Travel Diary: TOKYO DISNEYLAND

Bright and early the following day, we were headed to Tokyo Disneyland! It was the first time we’re trying the train system of Tokyo and oh boy, it was a lot different from Osaka and Kyoto. 

Everyone is on a hurry and is practically running (in an organized manner surprisingly) to catch the next train. It was chaotic, but not really. 

We arrived just in time before the theme park opened. 

The weather was a bit gloomy but being in Disneyland...it doesn’t matter. something about this place instantly brightens up anyones mood. It’s everyone’s happy place. 

I was excited. I’ve been to so many countries already but in fact, it’s the first Disneyland i decided to visit. 

SO MANY BEAUTIFUL FLOWERS TOO! 

OLAF was there of course!

Disneyland is just for kids?? SAID NO ONE EVER.

Ariana Grande Concert in Manila: My Experience!

Last August 23, my friend and i went to Moa Arena to watch Ariana Grande sing her heart out for her Filipino fans. We decided to make our own cat ears cause we’re feeling festive.

We arrived the venue around 6:30pm. Traffic was crazy but definitely not as crazy back in March when One Direction was here. 

I was able to take a video of most of the highlights from the show, so if you’d like to experience the show as well...Here it is!

Vheniz and I are not massive Ariana Grande fans, but after watching her live, we can definitely say that she’s such a great performer and she totally deserves the spotlight. We had such a great time and so...thank you Ariana!

After the show we decided to check out the official merchandise store found at the vip area. Unfortunately the stuff that we wanted was sold out already and we weren’t really up to pay for an overpriced 1200php basic t-shirt with Ariana’s face on it. HAHA 

Vern and Verniece were also at the show and we decided to say hi. 

We haven’t had dinner yet so we searched for an open restaurant in MOA after the show and found no luck at all. hahaha So we decided to just eat our leftover popcorn from the show while we drive all the way to NLEX to our favorite post/pre-concert food spot: Cafe France. I swear so much memories on that particular branch. HAHA

Makeup Tutorial #1

1. Why do you wear makeup?

When it comes to makeup, i really think that you should do it because you love it. It is definitely something that is fun to play around with. There are so many different types of makeup and it’s up to you which one you’d like to invest in.

Personally, i enjoy it. I love collecting it. It’s one of those things that makes me happy. You know that feeling when you’re having a really crappy day, then you buy something like a lipstick and instantly you feel better? I’m one of those people. 

2. Why are some makeup expensive?

In the global market, there are 2 categories when it comes to makeup. DRUGSTORE & HIGH-END. 

Drugstore ones are not really cheap (because makeup is not really cheap) but is relatively cheaper. Some brand that belongs to this category are as follows: MAYBELLINE, L’OREAL, REVLON, ELF etc. 

Higher End brands are definitely expensive. Brands belonging to this category are as follows: M.A.C. , Bobbi Brown, Dior, Chanel, Benefit etc.   

I cannot say that high-end makeup is better than the drugstore ones. Because there are definitely some really good ones with a drugstore price tag. 

3. If that’s the case, why do people invest in high-end makeup?

This is how i see it, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. 

For example: Wet & Wild Lipsticks vs M.A.C. Lipsticks

These two brands of lipstick has always been linked with each other because a lot of the colors from M.A.C. Lipsticks you can definitely find a dupe for from Wet & Wild for a lot cheaper. M.A.C. lipsticks retails for 1000 pesos, and Wet & Wild Ones you can get for around 180pesos. Both Lipsticks are super pigmented, buttery soft, and glides smoothly on to the lips. 

The difference? PACKAGING. Wet and wild lipstick has extremely crappy packaging that after a while of using it, the plastic breaks which results to lipstick going everywhere. M.A.C. ones feel expensive, sturdy & classy. 

4. Will you be interested in posting tutorials on certain makeup looks?

This is something i’ve been asked for, for a while now. And i’m definitely gonna “try” to do it. “Try” being the operative word there haha

 I’m not really a professional when it comes to makeup, but i’m proud to say, i do know quite a lot about it, because i study it. I know my products well, i’m pretty up to date with the makeup trends and all that, and i love testing products out and have proven to be quite good at recommending products to my friends. SO I’LL TRY! HAHA
