Cassie is a former Pokémon Center employee turned semi-pro trainer whose pride and joy is a Cubone that she rescued. she favors Ice and Flying Type Pokémon and she's known around the region as someone who gives medical treatment to wild Pokémon she comes across while training!

i don’t know if this order is necessarily the order in which they submitted the actors , but if it is , it IS really weird how sepideh is at the bottom of that list ?? it could just be whoever wrote the article this SS is from (if the original poster sees this i’d be interested to read the specific article) fucking shit up either intentionally or unintentionally , but again idk .

another thing i’d be interested to know is what fiona dourif was submitted for ?? to be submitted for an emmy the actor/actress has to also submit a standout performance/scene to be reviewed , and i can’t think of any specific moment in s2 that sticks out . this isn’t me saying that fiona isn’t a phenomenal actress , if you ever hear me even get close to saying that you should assume i’ve been compromised , but her role this season didn’t include any dramatic moments that could warrant an emmy (at least not in comparison to her contenders) — the only scene i can think of is her conversation with langdon after roxy dies ?? maybe i’m forgetting something . similar could be said for patrick ball tbh , he didn’t really have a dramatic standout performance this season either ( again i could be forgetting something )

CASSIE MCKAY BLURB — hella angst ahead

when harrison was four, cassie only had visitation rights and was in the middle of an endless spiral of guilt about being a shitty mother to him. about missing out on so much of his childhood. she felt like she was robbing him of the stability and happiness that she should’ve provided for him from the very start.

even at that age, he’d loved books. just adored the pretty illustrations on the covers and in the pages, loved sounding out the bigger words, and took no greater pleasure than in picking out as many new titles as he could when chad would take him to the public library to meet up with his mama. twice a week, he’d take cassie’s hand and lead her down the rows to pick out something for them to read together.

one time, he found a book with two white rabbits on the cover. he loved animals about as much as he did stories, so he handed it to cassie and asked her to read it to him. that day had been hard for her, harder than normal, her insecurity and her shame bubbling close to the surface when she’d watched harrison’s little face light up the way it always did when he saw her. he deserves more, she’d been thinking, he deserves so much more than me.

she’d sat down in an armchair in the reading nook toward the back of the library and pulled him into her lap. the story he’d chosen, ‘the runaway bunny’, turned out to be the final shove off the cliff she’d been standing on since she’d gotten ready for that visit that morning. she had barely made it through the book and was relieved to be able to close it, hoping the harsh lump in her throat would settle. but then harrison had twisted in her lap to look up at her, eyes wide and inquisitive, “would you chase me like that?” he’d asked. cassie would never have any way of knowing if he’d just been curious, or if he had somehow been able to tell that cassie had needed it. had needed him. either way, she had to press her face into his hair to keep him from seeing the tears that had sprung to her eyes.

“absolutely.” she’d croaked. her heart had nearly shattered when harrison leaned into her, his arms wrapped around the book, “i’m really fast so you gotta’ be, too.” and the conversation had shifted toward which animals would win in a race against him, and then they’d gone and found another title, but the words stuck in cassie’s head.

maybe harrison deserved more than cassie. maybe he would’ve been better off with a more traditional and stable home. that didn’t really matter— not when he’d get so excited to see her, to tell her all about the happenings of his four-year-old life, to take her hand and lead the way. not when he’d asked her if she would give chase if he ran, and she’d told him that she would. he didn’t care about traditional. he just wanted her.

yes i can talk about cassies kindness and empathy untill im blue in the face but can i speak on her impulsivity? her issues with authority? her anger? the deep breaths she takes to keep her composure? the force behind her calm? the tension in her fear?

this is someone who had to shred herself to pieces to pull herself out of literal hell — i love that the audience gets to see the effort she still has to put in to keep herself from falling back into it. this kind of war is one you can never stop fighting, and you have to keep choosing to fight it, and learn to have grace with yourself when it feels like you might lose again or that you have lost.

we can see her restraint, we can see her actively choosing, and that’s just as important as seeing her succeed !! what is success without struggle ? how can you connect to someone’s triumph if you don’t know what it took for them to have it ? and what is success if there isn’t always a part of you that you have to will away, the part that tells you that you’re the exact same person you were ? that fear of losing, of not changing and growing, is a huge part of the changing and the growing — the universe is just fucked up like that, that you can feel like you’re still a terrible person and have that turmoil and shame be proof that you aren’t !!

yes, cassie is kind and empathetic and understanding, but she had to work to be those things and still works for it !! and she’s flawed, she fucks up, she loses her temper, and most times it’s not even a theatrical release of pent up emotion— it’s a scowl stuck to her face or an assumption she makes of someone, because yes, cassie ‘judge-them-not’ mckay is guilty of making assumptions and having a bias !!
