First time making a side blog dedicated to a ship, kinda nervous

I'm gonna be honest, I have no idea how often I'm gonna use this blog, but I have literally no one to talk about Voltron or Rebelfire, so I created this

Of course, the main topic of this is Rebelfire, but I'm also going to talk about Keith, Shiro, Pidge, and Matt individually because I love them

Oh, a small but very important clarification, I don't like kl*nce. Like, at all. I won't talk shit about it or anything, I just don't want it around here (unless I need it for the plot lmao)

and even back in season one when keith and pidge barely know each other and the food fight starts? keith is just like, alright pidge go get her.

he can tell she is a menace. and he's ready to support her unleashing destruction and violence on the enemy, no questions asked

Hi I can't sleep so I made this (ngl I'm TERRIBLE at deciding things, especially because it totally depends on my mood, the au, the vibe, etc etc, so this can change literally in five minutes)

Ignore the fact that I forgot their height difference. I think they're pretty even until Keith's galra genes strike (he's not as tall as the other galra but he does gets taller than Matt)

I considered not including their age difference because it depends on which AU I'm talking about jansns but I feel 3 would be their canon difference (at least at the beginning of the series, then with all the space shit and everything... Idk man)

They don't usually sleep like big/small spoon, Matt sleeps sprawled out on the bed and Keith snuggles up to him. They always wake up tangled up

Ever since Keith's galra senses began to sharpen, he steals Matt's hoodies, sweaters and t-shirts all the time. He loves his smell

Matt LOVES using pet name. His go to are "baby" and "babe", but when he wants to be annoying, he uses horrible ones like "snookums" "boo" "love muffin" "sweet cheeks" and anything that comes to mind at the moment. Keith, on the other hand, never felt comfortable using them, and prefers to stick to names

I don't think any of them gave the confession much thought, like it happened so naturally they didn't have time to stress over it

As they both know how to pilot a space ship, I think they're both capable of driving a car (although Keith tends to use his motorcycle, only using the car for long distance trips)

Matt can't cook for shit 100%. Colleen tried to teach both him and Katie the basics, but it always ended up with something burnt, broken and/or disgusting. Keith knows how to cook simple dishes, but he's not a fan. At some point in their lives they took cooking classes; it was hard (and Matt almost got kicked out at leas three times) but they managed to at least be decent at it

They can't stop touching each other, wether it is holding hands, putting one hand on the hips, on the leg, on the arm, tangling their feet, anything

Matt has zero experience. He's always been focused on his studies, and being an awkward science nerd didn't help. Keith has some experience, but not with relationships exactly iykwim they're each other's first actual relationship

Keith is more... Territorial than jealous, and Matt's not a fan of people (and aliens) staring and fawning over his really hot boyfriend, and when he notices someone's intention to flirt with Keith (and since he can never tell if someone's flirting with him unless they say "hey I wanna sleep with you"), he just goes to them, puts his arm around his waist and kisses his cheek

And they were roommates au and how Keith has to deal with Matt's bullshit

Matt's an older brother, so of course he's going to use all of his years worth of experience annoying Katie to annoy Keith

It starts with random facts, at the most random moments, just to test how Keith will react. They would be just waking up and Matt would go "did you know sharks have two dicks"; when they're going to get breakfast "did you know that the term 'bug' referring to a computer malfunctioning was because of a moth"; when they're preparing to go to bed "did you know there's a condition where a person believes they’re dead? Like, fully dead, but their body just hasn’t noticed yet. They even stop eating or ask to be buried". Keith shudders and feels cold sweat every time he hears the words "did you know" out in the wild

Then, it escalates to jokes. Terrible, horrible, awful jokes. Worse than dad jokes. Like, the worst jokes you could ever think of:

"I was going tell you a joke about Nihilism, but it wouldn't matter anyway..."

"The name's Pavlov, ring a bell?"

"What do you call a circle of iron? A FERROUS WHEEL!"

Most of the time, Keith doesn't catch them. When he does, he just groans and covers his face, hoping to die (mind you, he's not being dramatic, he just misses peace and quiet)

When they start to get along, the physical ones begin. It's mostly unharmful stuff, like touching his right shoulder when he's actually standing on his left and then slapping him when he turns his head again, but it always ends with Keith punching Matt in a very harmful way

Unprompted singing the most random and annoying songs is his favorite one (Shiro accidentally let it slip in once that Keith hated with a burning passion the song "Tell me something good", and Matt would start singing it and dancing à la Will Schuester, and Keith would throw himself at him and pin him to the ground, twisting his arm until he says he's gonna stop)

When they become actual, real friends, Matt finally reaches the final level: messing with Keith's stuff. He never did at the beginning because he didn't want Keith to think he was bullying him or something, but now that there's a bond between them, he knows he has the green light (well, not really because Keith hates it, but he knows Matt isn't doing it maliciously, just to be annoying): he starts mixing his shoes, disarming the pairs and putting one flip-flop with a combat boot, a sneaker with a flip-flop, a combat boot with a sneaker, and so on; hiding Keith's alarm, so when it starts ringing he has to get up and frantically search for it to turn it down (and to throw it at Matt's head); and stupid stuff like that

Those things never stop when they start dating though, he keeps going strong with some of those, even in space and after the war

I like to imagine that Pidge pulled a "Clark Kent" with the glasses Matt gave her, like they did something with lighting or something weird that would make her facial features look different (I mean, she somehow managed to outsmart the medical exams and her records)

You mean to tell me NOT ONE official at the garrison was like “hey- has anybody noticed that this random first year kid looks exactly like that one space guy who disappeared a year ago if he was like… a foot shorter?” like really???? no one????

Like there was a mini matt holt walking through the garrison hallways looking scared as hell and not even Iverson batted an eye. Alright

In which Keith was raised by Krolia since the very beginning because she found out she was pregnant after she left Earth and met the Pidge and the others through The Rebels (aka Matt). The Blade had successfully retrieved the Red lion before Allura was decryogenized, and although Keith felt the connection, he never piloted it (mostly so that the empire doesn't discover who stole the lion, but also because he was completely loyal to The Blade and wasn't planning on piloting one lion when they didn't know where the others where, besides Blue ofc)

Keith and Matt met when The Rebels and The Blade worked together to rescue prisoners, Matt being one of them. When they did, Keith, recognizing a human and unable to stop his curiosity about his father's culture, introduced himself. They didn't spend much time together at the beginning since they always left the prisoners on some planet or safe place or left them with the Rebels, and Matt obviously chose the latter. They always ended up meeting when their teams reunited though, becoming close friends (Keith was, of course, fascinated with every little thing Matt taught him about Earth, and they also spent time training, so Matt could learn to defend himself better).

After Allura and the team met (let's just say that Pidge, Hunk and Lance managed to rescue Shiro by themselves and somehow Lance felt Blue etc etc), they spent a lot of time searching for Red, and it wasn't til Pidge found Matt that they discovered who had Red. Obviously, Allura was pissed when she found out who was the red paladin, and had her little "all galra are bad" moment. Although Keith wasn't particularly interested in piloting Red, he ended up doing it out of spite.

Things changed between Keith and Matt after Naxzela, because I am not changing Keith's almost sacrifice and Matt's desperate cry from him to not do it (don't ask me why Keith decided to leave the team, this is me ranting half asleep at 3 am). When the teams regroup, Matt corners Keith, all trembling and angry and scared and relieved. He shouts at him, but Keith remains impassive, reminding him how he was raised to give his life for the mission, and Matt doesn't know how to make Keith understand that he's more than a mission, so he impulsively kisses him.

As much as I love angst (and believe me, I love it) I just can't bring myself to try and think about Rebelfire angst, they're like a comfort ship or something because I just want them to be happy, no hurt, no sad things, no angst, NOTHING

This is a first for me, I'm not used to only think about silly, happy stuff LMAO

I NEED TO FIND A WAY TO BRING MORE ANGST TO THEM. I MEAN, LOOK AT KEITH, HE'S FULL OF ANGST, AND FOR SOME REASON I JUST WANT MATT TO TAKE ALL HIS SADNESS AWAY INSTEAD OF USING IT AS A PLOT DEVICE UGHHH

MATT TOO BTW HE HAS SO MUCH UNPACKED TRAUMA AND SO MUCH ABOUT HIS REBEL TIME WE DON'T KNOW TO USE AGAINST HIM

Oh man, them being roommates bc Shiro introduced them and put in a word with Iverson or someone so Keith could have a friendly face when he's not around and Keith. Is. Not. Happy.

Matt finds it hilarious and annoys the shit out of him and practically bullies him into a friendship (and later a relationship)

Matt and Keith who knew each other before Kerberos but were never fully friends because of Keith's trust issues and became close while Keith was working with the Blade and Matt with the Rebels

They weren't in a relationship because, well, they were kind of busy in a war, but had something going on

The thing is, when Keith and Krolia disappear and get trapped in the Quantum Abyss, the two years happened outside of it. For them, it was like, two days maybe. So imagine how devastated everyone is, especially Matt and Shiro

When they come back, they end up on some random planet and find out that the war ended. Lance piloted Red and Allura Blue, and they fought Haggar alongside the Garrison, the Blade, the Rebels, and everyone else

When they manage to get in contact with everyone, and Keith gets back to Earth, it's just tears everywhere

Just, imagine the pain Shiro and Matt (and the rest I suppose) had to experience. After they won the war and everything stabilized a bit, they took off to space to try and find out what the hell happened to Keith, because he just vanished without a trace. No goodbye, no one gloating about killing the red paladin, no ship, no body, nothing. Thay had to focus on war, they couldn't allow themselves to be distracted, no matter how much they wanted to leave everything and search for Keith

They had to live with the pain, the loss, the grief, the wondering

So imagine their surprise when Pidge contacts them and the one who appears on the screen is very much not Pidge, but Keith

BoM Keith where Krolia somehow found out about his husband dying, came back to get Keith and raised him with The Blade.

Keith following his mother's steps to the point that not only did he crash on Earth trying to protect Blue, but also was rescued by a local and fell in love with him.

Krolia's like "When you were a kid and said you wanted to be just like me, this is not what I expected".
