kawasara week - day five: broken vase
for this topic i have more of an analysis
...that no one asked for !! (lmao) so i hope it’s acceptable...
(i may have gone off topic about the broken vase BUT flowers go in a vase, so it counts, right ?? sksksksksk please don’t be mad hehe. i may jump around the topic and it may get confusing so i apologize in advance!! and so sorry for the lengthy post)
we all know the vase represents kawaki. he broke it and later repaired it only to be missing a piece, leaving a small hole on the vase. in a flashback, we saw jigen told kawaki he’s empty and there’s a hole in his heart and that no matter what he gains, it will always spill right out. (skrt skrt hold on, if the hole is in his heart, does the vase represent kawaki or his heart?? cuz as he repairs it, we see how he’s remembering things, showing how each piece of the vase he’s repairing shows the bonds and friendships he’s making)
his bonds literally show:
- naruto - father
- sarada - first friend
- boruto - brother
- shikadai and inojin - friends
- himself - probably reflecting on himself
and it goes back to naruto and boruto, his family. father and brother as stated before.
(also, take note of the fact we first see naruto in his bonds, being a father to him and the next person we see is sarada.)
we all know flowers fill up a vase, making it no longer empty. in chapter 36, sakura is in the yamanaka flower shop and purchased some flowers from ino, which she later tells sarada to take home. after ino senses a bad presence, sarada lied to sakura and ran to naruto’s house. she knew she couldn’t do a thing and she knows naruto can hold his ground, so it makes one wonder, why is she rushing to the hokage’s home when she knows he can take care of the threat? that’s right, she’s worried about kawaki seeing as he’s the one the enemy is after. also, she ran with the bouquet of flowers.
the flowers in the bouquet grabbed my attention. it made me wonder the meaning behind those specific flowers. we all know ino knows all about flowers and their language, and seeing as sakura bought them for sasuke, the bouquet obviously has a deeper meaning behind it and seeing as this is a manga, which relies on a lot of visual story telling, i wouldn’t be surprised if it does.
hanakotoba is the japanese language of flowers which communicates emotions and intentions through flowers.
i took the time to do some research on them. the flower that stands out the most is the big six pointed one
at first i thought it was a daffodil like the ones sakura picked out for sasuke and rock lee while they were in the hospital from part one naruto, but there was a difference between a daffodil and that flower. i did some comparisons and from my research, this is a lily flower. not just any lily but an easter lily flower.
the lily flower has many meanings. the most common one being purity and fertility. they come in different colors and each color has a different meaning.
white - symbolize rejuvenation of the soul. can represent purity, commitment and rebirth
pink - symbolize femininity, admiration. can stand for love, femininity and admiration.
red - love and passion.
orange - confidence and energy
yellow - thankfulness, joy and friendship
the easter lily symbolizes purity, virtue, innocence, hope and life
the meaning behind these flowers could be applied to kawaki and sarada. not only because she ran to him with the flowers (which just reinforces it).
they met in chapter 28, which is called flowers.
the statement she told him at the end of it, “you can rely on me, so let me know whenever” she said that as she saw the way naruto was treating kawaki and seeing as her goal is to become hokage, she’s determined to do the same for him. after she leaves, naruto asked kawaki if they were friends now, and kawaki doesn’t confirm it, but he does not deny it either. instead he answers with “it’s none of your business” which could mean he considers himself and sarada friends and doesn’t want anyone prying. how ?? well, ino gave them free flowers to symbolize a new friendship with kawaki and guess what ?? a flower she has is the same as the ones in the bouquet sakura bought for sasuke
we know kawaki remembered jigen as he saw the stems being placed into the vase and he was terrified. then ino says she will prepare another one and when they leave, we see naruto with a bouquet, also containing that same flower
you could say “maybe ikemoto doesn’t know how to draw another type of flower” but WRONG cuz when the vase broke, there are tulips in it. so the man can draw other flowers. the same flower going on can’t be a coincidence.
back to the broken vase, as stated before, each piece represents the new bonds kawaki is forming, yet there is still a hole. that tiny hole and water leaks out of it, reinforcing what jigen said about everything pouring out of his heart. if the flowers symbolize his new friendship with sarada as stated by ino (and i say sarada as stated by naruto’s question of them being friends, and well, his bonds show sarada is his first friend), it gives the possibility of their friendship blossoming into something more in the future. i say this traces back to hanakotoba and communicating your feelings through flowers (which makes sense not just because it japanese culture but also because they were bought by a wife to give to her husband). maybe sarada is that tiny missing piece from his heart as kawaki never had or knew love. according to jigen, he’s empty. flowers fill up an empty vase. sarada ran to him with not one, but an entire bouquet of flowers. we see how their friendship has developed, it wouldn’t be surprising if the two end up with a bond deeper than friendship. sarada seems to be the one missing piece from the broken vase and will be the one to fill that empty void of kawaki’s.
that’s all i have for this analysis!! i hope this was acceptable for kawasara week and i hope i did it well !! did it make sense ?? haha
[ end. ]
kawasara week - day two: festival
for day two, we have kawaki and sarada out on a stroll at the tanabata festival❤️
i hope y’all like it !!
Kawasara week day 1: rely on me
They are older heyr, as Sarada has learned some medical ninjutsu.
kawasara week - day one: the forehead poke
kawasara week is here !!
the prompt i chose for this day was the forehead poke. a gesture of affection used by itachi on sasuke, who shared it with sakura, who also picked up the habit and shared it with sarada. here i drew a piece where older sarada shared this affectionate gesture, exclusive to the uchiha clan, with kawaki💖
i hope y’all like it !!🤍
