man sometimes I don't know if I'm missing some WH40K lore context that should be making everything way more confusing than it appears or what, but somehow I'm seeing a decently-popular youtuber present "what's sitting on the golden throne is the half of the emperor's self-split soul that lacks any of the positive qualities of humanity, as was required to defeat and kill Horus—and that's the dark king" as if that's a crazy angle no one predicted rather than literally the first thing I thought of when I heard both the starchild and dark king lore angles
like who the fuck hears "the starchild is widely theorized to be the piece of the emperor's soul he jettisoned into the warp so he could defeat Horus, containing all of his mercy, compassion, love, and anything else that might interfere with him locking in 110% on killing his favorite son" and doesn't immediately think "okay so if all of that is now some kind of warp-fetus waiting to be reborn, that would mean what's currently being worshiped by the imperium is the absolute horror of malice and bloodlust that was left behind"? thousands of nerds, apparently
