FALL OF JOAN - FALL 2013
Evan Clayton is proud to debut his
Autumn/Winter 2013 collection, “The Fall of Joan,” at this years Vancouver
Fashion Week showcase. The show will take place at The Chinese Cultural
Center on March 21st at 6:30PM. The collection explores the decay of the
modern superstar through the eyes of the fabled Joan of Arc during her last
days. This is seen through the use of exaggerating the traditional womanly
hourglass figure, prints inspired by Rorschach inkblot tests and the use of
unconventional materials.
Evan Clayton is an up and coming local fashion designer who strives to marry
art and fashion in such a way as to create political, personal and artistic
expression. Evan is a skilled designer whose talents are ready to be shown on
the world stage of fashion. A graduate from the Blanche MacDonald Fashion
Design program, Evan is trained in the art of tailoring and is well versed in the
fluidity of drapery.
The show is sponsored by One1One Magazine and will feature a collaboration
with the publication at the beginning of the show. Evan’s influences include
psychology, modern pop culture, French history and a variety of performance
artists. You will see these influences throughout the body of his work in fabric
innovation, skilled tailoring and by pushing the boundary of the silhouette. This
collection caters to women who are unafraid of embracing their sexuality and
who don't shy away from making a bold statement with their appearance.
