As a 40s 1D fan, I’ve end up in conversations with non-1D fans a fair amount this week, usually a bit weepy trying to keep it together. But they say something like, well they kept going after Zayn left.
And I’m just struck by the fact that there just is no One Direction without Liam. Will they maybe do a benefit show or something? Maybe?
But in so many ways it feels like Liam was the glue.
And before people come to my inbox and say I’m somehow negating the other boys’ contributions, I am not. Everyone had a role to play.
And perhaps what I’m really feeling is a voluntary (Zayn) departure vs an involuntary (Liam) one.
All of this to say, I’m holding the grief for a young man gone too soon and a band that I have always held out hope would return.

Furthermore King Charles abolishes the monarchy on a whim, the pope twerks and the mystery of the Mary Celeste is solved once and for all. While you're processing this information, you remember the ongoing election and learn that Georgia has just turned blue and Kamala Harris is president of the United States. Now, if you can picture all this in your mind, exponentially amplify the feelings you have right now and then you might even get close to feeling what everyone was feeling on DestielPutinElectionDay, November 5th, 2020.
