The sleepy words coming from Kaz’s mouth were adorable, and of course made Cole want to kiss him more, but instead he just snuggled closer to the source of them. His lips found their way to the boys neck again, leaving sloppy kisses that smelled of Kaz’s natural scent and Cole’s morning breath now. He didn’t really know how to feel waking up like this, because it was all so perfect and something he didn’t really ever think would happen. Cole had lots of Valentine’s in high school, but being with Kaz for the third year was very, very special. His hands rubbed up Kaz’s collarbone and over his shoulder as he pressed his nose against the boys neck and smirked. “Feels nice waking up like this, huh?” Cole pushed away to let his eyes wander to Kaz’s that were struggling to stay open. He knew the boy deserved a day off for getting Essie, like he did every morning, even though he enjoyed it immensely, and would wake her up and get her breakfast himself. “I’m going to go make breakfast,” Cole whispered again, kissing Kaz’s chin before stirring a little bit and scurrying out of the blankets. He placed his feet on the floor before stretching and feeling the cool wood on his feet. He put on a long shirt of Kaz’s, already wearing his boxers as he carefully crept out of the room. Creeping into Estrella’s room across the hall, Cole noticed that the little girl was already awake and playing on her own in her room before he scooped her up to take into the kitchen with him. Pancakes, bacon, and eggs were on the menu for the morning as Cole set Estrella down on the kitchen floor so he could get the ingredients out of the fridge before starting on the stove top where he cracked an egg and turned to the pancake mix.
Despite the feeling of being completely ready to drift back off to sleep settling into Kaz's veins, he wanted to wake up and curl up against Cole, to kiss him until he was properly awake and then spend his day with him. The fact that it was Valentine's day was something that he knew was important in tradition, but he wasn't really focused on it other than the knowledge that it meant it was another day he got to spend with his husband. "It does," he whispered to Cole at the feeling of hands on his shoulders, missing the kisses that Cole had been treating him with before he'd pulled away. He loved waking up like this, when they had the chance to share lazy days together and just be. Too often Cole was running off to work and Kaz was taking care of Essie and his coursework to actually manage to spend time together, so now was the perfect opportunity. He had the chance to just be with Cole and that was what mattered to him. "You don't have to do that," Kaz said when Cole insisted that he was off to make breakfast, and Kaz reached out to try and stop him, sighing a bit when he slipped away. A soft smile graced his lips as he watched Cole leave, one that lingered on Kaz's lips as he slowly crawled out of bed and stretched his tired limbs. Had he not heard that Cole had already gotten Essie and taken her along, he would have picked up their daughter on his journey to the kitchen, but the few minutes of peace gave Kaz an opportunity to freshen up slightly and get dressed before he followed along. He slipped into a pair of jeans and one of Cole's hoodies before he made his way to the kitchen. "Buenos días, mi princesa," Kaz mumbled as he scooped Estrella into his arms, kissing the girl's cheek as she giggled and clung to him. He smiled quietly, playing with their daughter for another minute before he set her down in her high chair and stepped over to Cole, pressing a soft kiss to his cheek. "Thank you," he told his husband. "You don't have to cook breakfast if you don't want to though. I can take care of it."
