i feel like an often overlooked downside to 10-episode seasons and the death of the "monster of the week" format is that we get way less whump variety nowadays. used to be that there'd be dozens of opportunities for your fave to get punched or kidnapped or hypnotized or what have you. these days if it doesn't fit into the main plot, it just doesn't happen. this is a tragedy. we should be protesting.

last day for omega semifinals voting, but i already know who wins in my heart <3

my "first sentai season" hot take is that it should be deka for the police proceduralists, geki for the wuxia/kung fu fans, shinkenger for jidaigeki enthusiasts, and gobusters for sci-fi nerds. plot is temporary unique flair and genre specific vibes is timeless

gobusters is such an underrated first sentai season recommendation methinks. but i get it gobusters is so unique especially with how it breaks the monster of the week -> mecha linearity. if i watched all of that just to go back to the formula of kill the monster so he can blow up for round 2 i would be sad too. but on the other hand the piloting and unique transformations is soooo cool and so mainstream sci-fi adjacent i feel like it's such a good entry drug of a season
