i used to live in st. john’s, nl, and, in late spring to early summer, it was not uncommon for a giant iceberg to float slowly by just outside the harbor. they would mention it on the news and radio. they took hours or, sometimes, days to go by. and, when it happened, it would make the whole town colder.. like ice in a glass of water. and, sometimes,… they would groan. as they passed.
I’m so glad I didn’t die before I had the chance to be loved by you. The chance to know what it is to be loved. A chance to dance on a dusty floor to the sound of an old guitar. A chance to hold your hand on a Sunday morning. A chance to walk with you to someplace where we can be alone. A chance to make you laugh out under the stars. A chance to experience your trust, your belief in me. I’m so glad I lived long enough to be here with you.
