I usually hold off on commenting until my opinion on something is cemented, but I feel compelled. Did a quick run through the next tbz batch and.... Literally speechless. I have nothing but praise. Absolute insanity. Never has a group's discography taken me on such a wild ride. I was so ready to fly through the last couple of albums because lineup changes + company issues + getting old will have groups releasing straight up bullshit. But apparently not tbz. Apparently they're still as able to pleasantly surprise me as they were with their debut.

I still wouldn't call any of them kpop "bibles", but the boyz have a surprising amount of certifiably skipless albums.

there's this guy on instagram, right, who reviews sticky toffee puddings around london. but like he never gives anything above a 7 and always has a complaint. which leads one to ask the questions, does he even like stps? that's how I feel about myself and kpop. do I even like this shit? everything is so bad and westernized and embarrassing nowadays I can't genuinely say I enjoy any of it. but every so often a song like the boyz vvv will pop up and remind me that, yes. yes I do. I love kpop. releasing this excellence in 2025, oh the boyz. thank you for your service.

jimin is like a vocaloid pretty much. the bighit producers autotune him so much that they might as well be working with a vocal synth.

there's a reason why idol songs have a certain sound and why hybe's attempts at moving away from that sound are all so cringe and flopping terribly. there's simply no need for a choreography and live vocals on "time to celebrate" repeated 60 times in a row. a bside that you do during a concert encore? maybe. a promoted title track? jesus christ.

Have you really watched nothing related to the bts comeback? Not even the mvs? Don’t you feel even remotely curious cause you kept up with them for years?

No, why would I? Haha idk why this is so hard to comprehend, I've hated them for far longer than I was ever a fan. This is my normal state. My two year sabbatical (during which I wasn't "keeping up" with anything, but "catching" up just to make sure I was hating properly) was simply an homage to my personal childhood experience of being an army. Nothing to do with bts themselves.

Liking bts is morally, ethically, and spiritually WRONG, and if you genuinely dedicate time to them, even if just to be critical, but especially if you're unironically stanning them, then you are a bad person. Plain and simple. And I have never said anything to the contrary in the history of this blog.

The only things I have seen releated to bts since circa july 2025 were things I would have seen anyway on the general internet culture sphere, reflecting the actual general public's opinion and view of bts (instead of the echochamber armys are living in,) so– a unanimous ridicule. Viral drag tweets and the like.

I was gonna make this post even before I got that anon, but this is as good a time as any. I had a cultural shock the other day re: kpop fans and fandom culture, and I realized that truly, even if no one believes me when I say I'm not that "into" kpop, it's simply the truth. And I don't wanna imply any causality here or attribute achievements to people that don't deserve them, but it's kind of interesting how, by dropping bts right when they were starting to sell out and not really getting "into" another active group after that, I completely missed out on the cultural rise of kpop. Revolutionary take here that definitely hasn't been said since the dawn of time, but I simply don't like how me liking a music genre carries all this burden. I'm NOT like other kpop stans. I don't get collecting photocards or carrying them in holders. I don't get weverse, bubble, or any of these other chatting sites. I don't get the deal with the photobooth photos. I don't get popup stores. Bring back FANCAFES. What happened to all the FAN CAFES guys. And I'm not talking about where you get the cupsleeves. I'm a kpop OLDHEAD and I'm sick and tired. I'm SICK and TIRED. I'm sick and tired of fellow oldheads dropping kpop because it fell off. YOU CAN'T POSSIBLY HAVE HEARD ALL KPOP SONGS RELEASED FROM 2007 TO 2019. GO BACK TO THE DRAWING BOARD AND START LISTENING, BOY. Anyways, I truly dgaf that no one believes when I say I'm only here for music, because I know it's true and that's enough. And the funny thing is, from when I dropped bts the first time in late 2017 to up until recently, I wasn't even actively trying to listen to more kpop. I was just looping the same old same old and having a blast. Lmfao. And getting rlly into bollywoodpop.
