I've always wanted to donate blood since High School but I was unable to because I was under weight. Now, I can check it off from my bucket list. It is my pleasure to be able to help my brothers and sisters in service and other beneficiaries that needed blood and platelets. I've seen how much platelets and blood a cancer patient needed when I was working in Hem/Onc. I challenge everyone that are eligible to donate blood or platelets. #Savelife #1GallonDonor #BeAHero #BeADonor https://www.instagram.com/p/CK2chNDJnEO/?igshid=1es2nywoqmplc

Daily Bible Reflections
Jan 25, 2020 (Monday): THE CALL
Opening Prayer: “Holy Spirit, come into my mind so I may meditate and understand your Word. Guide me and inspire me as I come before You in prayer today.”
Readings:
Acts 22:15: “You will be his witness to all people, telling them about what you have seen and heard.”
Mark 16:15: “Jesus said to his followers, “Go everywhere in the world, and tell the Good News to everyone.”
The readings for today are about Jesus calling certain people to spread the Good News of salvation around the world. In the Gospel of Mark, you will see that Jesus instructed the disciples to go out into the world and spread His Good News to everyone. Jesus wanted His disciples to be not afraid to go out and spread all His teachings and the Good News of our salvation. The first reading has the same theme, the only difference is Jesus called Paul (aka Saul) to be baptized and do the His work. Paul was a righteous man that used to prosecute the followers of Jesus. Yet Paul was called by Jesus to follow Him and preach His work. That is the beauty of God’s love and mercy. He does not discriminate. He welcomes everyone. Paul’s past did not matter to God, neither do yours. Our God is a loving, merciful, and forgiving God. He does not call the worthy, but He makes those whom He calls worthy. It does not matter how many times you have sinned as long as you ask for His forgiveness and follow Him. Always remember that God wants all of you. He accepts all your faults, all your shortcomings, all your problems, and all your sins. Turn your life around, surrender everything to the Lord and follow Him. This is our calling, our purpose, our mission embrace it.
Reflect:
Where is God calling you this New Year? What do you need to give up to choose Him?
Lord God, help us to embrace our past so we may embrace You and Your plans for us. Amen.
Closing Prayer: “Father, I thank You. Your Word is manna to my spirit. May Your Word that I receive today transform my soul. Make me more like You. Amen.
May this dream catcher protect you from having bad dreams. https://www.instagram.com/p/CKc4PR0JScYH-YWeWh5ffvyTHc5kEGptm7d4qg0/?igshid=1dakzk5xxo1mk

Jan 24, 2021 (Sunday): LEAVE EVERYTHING FOR HIM WHO HAS EVERYTHING
Opening Prayer: “Holy Spirit, come into my mind so I may meditate and understand your Word. Guide me and inspire me as I come before You in prayer today.”
Readings:
Mark 1:16-18: “When Jesus was walking by Lake Galilee, He saw Simon and his brother Andrew throwing a net into the lake because they were fishermen. Jesus said to them, “Come follow me, and I will make you fish for people.” So, Simon and Andrew immediately left their nets and followed him.”
Jesus is inviting us to follow Him. He wants us to leave everything and follow Him for He has everything. I like how Jesus told Simon and Andrew that He will make them fish for people. That what happens when you leave everything you have and follow Jesus. He will give you everything that you did not have before and He will make you so much more. When I left the Philippines in 2008 to live in San Diego, I was worried, and I did not want to go because I did not want to leave my friends and our house. I remember, I was crying and asking my Dad to bring me back to the Philippines. I was afraid to leave everything and start a new life. Now that I have been in the U.S for almost 13 years, I am glad that I did not go back to the Philippines. I may have left my friends in the Philippines, but I did not lose them. I thought my friends will forget me over the years, but I was wrong. We became closer than ever before. Moving to the U.S and joining the Navy brought me closer to God. When I left home to join the Navy, I was scared and worried that I am going to be by myself, but Jesus gave me comfort when I was in boot camp. I would pray every night before I go to sleep and every morning before I get out of my rack. Jesus did not leave my side especially when I was having a hard time passing my prone test. It was my last chance to pass the swim test to be able to graduate and march with my division, I remember when I got into the water, I started to panic but as soon as I put my head down under the water with eyes closed, I saw the image of Jesus and told me to be still and do not worry. It calmed me and gave me peace and I as able to pass the test. Since then, Jesus has been with me in my Navy career. He would always prove me everything that I need to do my job and to achieve my goals. If you want to have everything, say yes to Jesus, and follow him. He will give you everything. Do not be afraid to leave everything you have now to follow Jesus for He has everything.
Reflect:
What do you need to leave behind so you can truly follow Jesus?
Make that decision and leap of faith now.
God, help me leave the things that hinder me from living a full life in You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Closing Prayer: “Father, I thank You. Your Word is manna to my spirit. May Your Word that I receive today transform my soul. Make me more like You. Amen.
Daily Bible Reflections Jan 23, 2021 (Saturday): OCCASION TO LOVE
Opening Prayer: “Holy Spirit, come into my mind so I may meditate and understand your Word. Guide me and inspire me as I come before You in prayer today.”
Readings:
Hebrews 9:12: “Christ entered the Most Holy Place only once—and for all time. He did not take with him the blood of goats and calves. His sacrifice was his own blood, and by it he set us free from sin forever.”
This passage is showing us how Jesus Christ sacrificed His own body and blood to save us all from our sins forever. He is the way, the truth, and the life. Christ entered the Most Holy Place without any material sacrifices, He entered the Holy Place with self-sacrificial which is enough for our salvation. Christ is inviting us to come to Him as we are. Material or earthly things are not important when it comes to entering the kingdom of God. Do not give in to these things that will are not be able to take with us to heaven. It does not matter if we are rich or poor, God will judge our heart not our status in life. Our relationships, intentions, and how we treat other people is all that matters to God. If we want to enter the kingdom of God, we need to put people/relationships first over material things with God at the center of it all and treat each other with love and kindness. God is inviting us to offer ourselves to Him. Offer Him all the good and bad things in our life.
Mark 3:20-21: “Then Jesus went home, but again a crowd gathered. There were so many people that Jesus and his followers could not eat.” “When his family heard this, they went to get him because they thought he was out of his mind.”
In this reading, Jesus was so busy with His ministry to the point where He and His disciple could not even find time to eat. And when His family learned about this, they tried to take Him away from His work and thought he was going crazy. Here, we see how Jesus loves to work in His Ministry, and He was criticized for it. We cannot avoid criticism in serving God and in life in general. People around us will always have something to say about us but the most difficult to take or the most painful are those come from our family or our loved ones. That’s what happened to Jesus in this passage. He was criticized by His own family. They thought He is going crazy, and that hurt Him. Our family or our loved ones supposed to support us not criticize us. Yes, it hurts to be criticized, but sometimes it can also help us to look at ourselves and assess if what others say about us is true or not. Not all criticisms are bad some are constructive, these are the things that we need to hear to see the bigger picture and check if we are still in the right track. Criticism is inevitable, it is up to us how we will handle it. Jesus, Himself experienced criticism and was misunderstood in His ministry even by His own family. Some people did not believe Him until the end that He is the promised Messiah. Life is not smooth sailing, there will be challenges and difficulties. These what makes us strong and successful. Yes, some people will not believe in us, they will question and doubt us, but Jesus always believes in us, He always answers us, He trusts us and has faith in us. Use these criticisms, good or bad, to inspire you. It is easy to get discouraged by these critics, but do not give in and lose hope. Do not hate and condemn these people but go to Jesus and ask Him to show you and lead you to love, serve, and respect more the people that criticize you. Sometimes, these people need love and understanding more than you do. There is a saying, “if life gives you lemons, make lemonade” with us Filipinos, “kapag binato ka ng bato, batuhin mo ng tinapay”. Do not let these people put you down. When people tell you, you CAN’T show them that you CAN. Do not step down to their level, just stay silent when they expect you to be enraged and kill them with kindness. Let these criticisms serve as reminder to remain humble and to love and pray those who misunderstand us. Let these criticisms be part of your success. Be humble and let your success speaks for you.
Reflect:
Find comfort in Jesus when you receive criticism from others. If the world hates you, remember that it hated Him first.
Lord, help me see that every criticism is an occasion to love.
Closing Prayer: “Father, I thank You. Your Word is manna to my spirit. May Your Word that I receive today transform my soul. Make me more like You. Amen.

Jan 22, 2021 (Friday)
Opening Prayer: “Holy Spirit, come into my mind so I may meditate and understand your Word. Guide me and inspire me as I come before You in prayer today.”
Readings:
Hebrews 8:12: “I will forgive them for the wicked things they did, and I will not remember their sins anymore.”
This is where the phrase “forgive and forget” came from. It reminds me of the Lord’s prayer, “forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us”. Our God is a forgiving God. If you want God to forgive your sins, admit your sins and repent and most importantly, forgive the people who wronged you. It is not easy to forgive and forget but this is the way to free yourself from all the pain and burden you are feeling. God is saying that He loves you, despite of your sins. He forgives you no matter what. You will always be His child. He hates the sin but not the sinner. Notice how He say, “I will NOT REMEMBER their SINS anymore”, He is forgetting the sin not you.
Psalm 85:8: “I will listen to God the Lord. He has ordered peace for those who worship him.”
Sometimes when we face problems or challenges, we tend to forget how big our God is. Next time you face any problems, listen and turn to God. In the middle of chaos, listen and worship God. December 20, 2020, we rush my Dad in the emergency room because of COVID. He was having difficulty breathing and his pulse ox was dropping. They treated him and got discharge to home with meds. Two days after, he is getting worse and we took him to the ER again. This time, they wanted to admit him, but he refused. So, they decided to discharge him with oxygen at home. Few days later, he was still not improving. His pulse ox is unstable, and his blood sugar was through the roof. We took him to the ER for the third time. This time, he really needed to be admitted. He was still refusing to be admitted but we forced him to stay in the hospital. And when he finally agreed to the admission, he was transferred to the ICU because he needed high flow of oxygen. During these times, I was so worried, I was scared because I thought he will get intubated. I could not eat; I could not sleep. I was constantly checking his status online. Despite of this challenge, in the middle of chaos, worries, fears and anxiety that I am feeling I turned to God. It is not until after a day or two while my Dad is in the ICU, I realized that I am not really listening to God. All I did was talk and ask him to heal my Dad then I decided to just listen. I listened to The Feast; I listened more worship songs. My family organized a group rosary, and we worship God. I begun to feel calm, all the worries and fears went away. I felt at peace knowing that God is working and healing my Dad. I texted my Dad the next day, telling him to be strong and keep fighting, to keep praying. I told him, we may not be with him at that moment, he is always in our prayer and Jesus is always with him. Now, my Dad and everybody in my family are healed and free of COVID. Trust in the Lord and worship Him, He will give you peace. Always remember that God is bigger than your problems. He is bigger than any challenges that you are facing. He is bigger than your pain, fear, worries, anxiety, depression, and everything else that is keeping you away from Him.
Mark 3:14-15: “Jesus chose twelve and called them apostles. He wanted them to be with him, and he wanted to send them out to preach and to have the authority to force demons out of people.”
This passage is reminding us of discipleship. He wants us to follow Him and spread His words and teachings. Jesus could have just done it by himself and have His powers to himself, but He chose to share it with the apostles. He chose to share it with us. We are made in likeness of God, so it is necessary to think, act and love like Him. We need to take up our cross and follow Him. We are meant to walk in faith with each other. My friend gave me a shirt that says, “Win souls and make disciples”, this is our purpose. Jesus is giving us power to preach, to inspire, to motivate, to guide, to lead, to heal, and to touch each other’s souls. Jesus wants us to be with him and He wants to be with us.
Reflect:
When you open your life to the Lord, you open your eyes to the lost.
Father God, You are the giver of life. Help me to stand on Your laws and live out a faith that is life-giving. Amen.
Closing Prayer: “Father, I thank You. Your Word is manna to my spirit. May Your Word that I receive today transform my soul. Make me more like You. Amen.
