Is there any Keldo fanart around?
Keldo (Star Wars: Phasma)
“I am a leader, and a leader does what is best for the people.”
“Perhaps almost starving is not the ideal way to conceive new life.”
“If everyone thought that way, you and I had not even been born, sister.”
Keldo understood well what Phasma meant and on some days he even shared her grim way of thinking. He saw too many young mothers die from childbirth, or little ones being too weak to live and eventually succumbing to horrible diseases.
There was a reason they didn’t dare to give names to children under a certain age. But that cannot be the way. They had Frey and she was strong. Like him and Phasma. There must be a reason why they could survive, while many others couldn’t.
“Is this why you will not get close to anyone? You’re afraid of losing a child?”
Phasma Novel Quote Prompts
“And you sound like someone who just wants to watch the galaxy burn.”
“Are you with me or against me?”
“I don’t think I’d want to be a number.”
“Those who survive must move forward.”
“I’d suggest you find a way to be entertaining.”
“I will fight anyone or anything in return for my freedom.”
“If you require skills, my skill is death.”
“You should eat more.”
“They want us to die? Let’s disappoint them, then.”
“This place is so wrong.”
“Is this not what you really want?”
“Would you like to see a real show?”
“So that’s why loss of life doesn’t matter to you.”
“One fool in charge of a bunch of fools.”
They are an attacking force, and you know how we treat attacking forces.”
“You’re in a war, and no one is innocent.”
“I am the arbiter of life and death for you and your people.”
“And what would you know of swords?”
“What are you looking for?”
“In my experience, it’s the thing that sneaks up behind you that’s the real threat, not the one that faces you.”
“Perhaps almost starving is not the ideal way to conceive new life.”
“Do not speak his name again to me.”
“He made his choice. And he made the wrong one. Let him suffer for it.”
“You’re the biggest lump in view.”
“Your today protects my people’s tomorrow.”
“Body to body, dust to dust.”
“We had one chance. One chance to leave this dying shell of a life for something better.”
“We’re going to take a ride to the stars.”
“It smells like death.”
“This is an interrogation, not a party.”
“You’re too soft.”
“It’s beautiful from up here.”
“I don’t mind telling people they’re screwed, but I hate giving anyone false hope.”
“Can I trust you?”
“Do you swear that you won’t try anything?”
“I think I’d rather stay alive than die for something that’s already halfway dead.”
“You’ll understand later, but know that it had to happen this way, and I’m sorry.”
“It’s still not enough. You know that.”
“You seem pretty happy about dying.”
“You don’t have to be on the losing side here.”
“You’re a killer.”
“If you don’t fight like it’s a fight to the death, are you really fighting?”
“You’re only out for yourself. Your loyalty means nothing.”
“Your loyalty is disgusting.”
“Do you think he cared about you outside of using you?”
“As long as you survived, what did you care?”
“There is nothing you can do that would surprise me.”
“What are you going to do? Kill me?”
“I’ve fought too hard and lost too much getting to where I am to risk everything by killing you.”
“They made me. I’m what I’m supposed to be.”
“You were only ever meant to be the tool, not that hand that wields it.”
“I’m not a hypocrite just because I don’t believe the same things you believe.”
“Everyone is a monster.”
“I did what I had to do.”
“I hate to say I told you so, but…”
“Wish I had some knitting.”
“It’s always business first, isn’t it?”
“Your place or mine?”
“You really know how to treat a girl right.”
“Hands on head. You know how this works, scum.”
“It’s up to you. We can do this the easy way or the hard way.”
“You will never rule me.”
“You are too fond of peace.”

“She will have to grow much taller.”
After a moment, a smirk coiled at the corner of her mouth, and her hand pulled free of his grasp long enough to cup his skull in her palm, tilting it down so that she could press her lips to his forehead. It wasn’t a kiss. There was no pucker, no soft sound to it. Perhaps Phasma had never learned how to do it properly, or it was simply her own, stern take on the gesture. But her lips lingered there all the same, her breath spreading warm against his hairline.
When it was done, she rolled over, presenting her back to him, a silent invitation to huddle closer for warmth, the way they had as children.
“Would it please you…if she were like me?”
The question was a rare thing. A hint of vulnerability in it, coated in doubt. Phasma couldn’t be sure how often Keldo’s mind wandered to the night he lost his leg, nor could she be certain if he had ever really forgiven her. She’d done what she felt necessary. Apologized to him just before plunging the knife into his leg.
She thought of it often.
“Yes. I would want her to be as strong and powerful as you are–”
He said without hesitation, then his voice broke with a sharp inhale, as if an unsaid thought got stuck inside and made him halt.
He pressed his head against Phasma’ back and let out a deep sigh.
“…only with a kinder heart.”
He closed his eyes as he was waiting for his sister’s response and hoped she understood what he meant.
keldoofthescyre:
“I have no doubts about that, sister. But…“
Keldo knew his sister loved Frey. But he also knew that Phasma was capable of unimaginable things out of love. His daughter was strong but still so little…
He didn’t want to start a long argument in the middle of the night, and they both needed their sleep, so he chose the easier way out.
“Don’t fool yourself, Phasma. You know we couldn’t win that fight, they outnumber us by far too many. We would only make more enemies.”
He took one of Phasma’s calloused hands into his and looked her in the eyes.
“She’s your blood, too. Do you really not want a more peaceful life for her?”
“Of course I do.”
Her hand squeezed his, but it wasn’t a warm gesture. It carried a threat with it, though not meant for him. Peace, so far as she was concerned, was a spoil of war. She didn’t trust the Claw with negotiations, and knew they would never hold a truce forever.
Still, she leaned in, and pressed her forehead to his. “Sleep, brother. She will be safe, so long as I’m here.”
Keldo closed his eyes as he felt his sister’s forehead touch his, and for a brief moment he enjoyed the tender moment between the two of them. He knew that for Phasma it wasn’t a light thing showing affection like this, and he appreciated her closeness.
“I know.”
The warmth of his sister calmed him and he felt his body relax. They disagreed about a few matters but they were of the same mind in many others.
“You know, she wants to be like you.”
Just Phasma and Keldo chillin’

@keldoofthescyre
Keldo moved his upper body so his sister could settle herself under the cover. He felt a sudden icy chill run through his body as her cold feet touched his leg. It reminded him of more innocent times when they were children, and every night they fell asleep to the howls of the wind, clinging tightly to each other.
“It’s Frey…” he whispered. He glanced towards his sleeping daughter a few meters away from them. The tiny girl was in a deep slumber beside her mother under thick fur covers, holding onto a raggedy doll she had as a makeshift toy.
“Having her feels me with incredible joy, but at the same time I have this awful dread… and I feel unable to conquer it.”
“You could conquer it by conquering the Claw,” Phasma muttered, but her tone was noncommittal, and her weight shifted as she turned to face her brother. It was an old and tired argument. More a needle under his skin than an attempt to begin a real fight. Besides…the Scyre were still far too few, even with Phasma’s skilled and savage War Band. Still, it didn’t stop her from wishing. From fantasizing. Dreaming of the day she could tear that wretched Dug and all his followers limb from limb. If they ever laid a hand on Frey…
“You know I’ll protect her.”
"I have no doubts about that, sister. But...“
Keldo knew his sister loved Frey. But he also knew that Phasma was capable of unimaginable things out of love. His daughter was strong but still so little...

"I like being the only person awake sometimes."
“Mmh…” Phasma laid beside him, the Scyre all huddled together within the cave for warmth as the cold waters beat against the cliffs, sending frigid gusts through the air. But with so many bodies sharing limited space, the cavern could hold an almost comfortable temperature.
She pulled the thick furs that covered them both, adjusting them as she pulled her legs inward to keep her feet warm. Being one of the tallest Scyre had its advantages, but also irritations when it came to trying to keep herself entirely beneath the blankets.
“What’s keeping you awake?”

Keldo theory
This section in the Phasma novel haunts me so I’m back at this topic again :)
“… I’ve already had her assigned a separate suite. We’ve had a long journey, so we will rest today. You will begin her training tomorrow morning. And now I must go make sure our other new recruit starts out on the right foot. I have great expectations for these warriors of Parnassos.”
It could be such a clear suggestion of injured Keldo being brought with Brendol and Phasma up Brendol’s ship in the end. And why wouldn’t it be? Why would the author put these words into Brendol’s mouth to refer to Frey? I think it has to be Keldo.
We heard Phasma’s story told by Vi who had heard it from Siv. So I am just going to assume that they both altered the truth somehow for some reason and Keldo will appear again somehow in the Phasma comics or the movies.
She still misses Siv.
None of this is ok.
Always wearing a mask... I’m not surprised, sister.
Anyway PHASMA was a great read, so gET ON IT.
Sister in transition
I would have preferred if Keldo had stayed alive... Or at least if his fate had been not made certain :(
I think a lot of us would have done, but unfortunately Phasma has no chill :/
Well, maybe Siv didn’t tell everything and we know that Vi didn’t tell everything... So there’s a very little chance some of them might be still there :)
“Keldo was only a year older than Phasma, but Siv had long known that he would make a great leader.”
chromecaptain
“The Claw interfered. They’ve started laying traps in our territory.”
To the outward eye, Phasma was still as a statue beside her brother, but Keldo would be able to feel the faint lean she made to support his own. She pushed her fingers back through filthy gold locks, snagging a few tangles in the process.
“We killed the trappers trying to claim the catch.”
"I wish we could find common ground with them.”
Every day was a fight for survival in Parnassos and the constant enmity between the Scyre folk and the Claw only added to their burdens. Keldo couldn’t accept that his people had to kill other people in order to ensure their living, as if life in their unforgiving homeworld wasn’t dire enough.
He moved to put a hand on his sister’s arm, suddenly feeling grateful to whatever higher forces that kept Phasma safe during all her dangerous ventures. It never ceased to surprise him how powerful a warrior she became, and in the dark of night he often wondered what skills he would possess if...
“You know how I feel about this...”
Do not haunt my soul; I have done well forgetting you.
Jack Kerouac, On The Road (via chromecaptain)
You made it quite hard to forget you, dear sister but when I think of you, I would never wish the same.
