zahir and shirini thalman saw their place in los altos hills as a sign of the times changing ; a cultural reset earned through generational upheaval . zahir came from a long line of immigrants who had resettled in the united states but by the time he was born , he was settled into a life of acquired wealth . his family had worked hard and shirini's had too but they were jetsetters , stars of their generation . zahir had an obsession with beauty , vanity and aesthetic enhancement and when the two had met , they fell in love instantly . captivated by her beauty , it was not long before they became a young , hot couple and by the time they reached their 40s , they were well respected in the celebrity world as people you should know . their joint vanity was an aspect of everything they did and how they lived their life - they were superficial but harmless .

it was in later childhood that zahir began to believe that being an only child was not good for kellan and that he would not get the same experience as his parents had growing up - not that they were the most considerate or easy human beings . kellan was thirteen years old when kiran came home ... a new sister that would become his mothers very own protogee from the very first second . the benefits of having a sister who came all grown up rather than as a baby was that the two of them were able to argue from the very first day ... kiran was an intelligent girl and she didn't mind telling kellan when to shut up ... not that he listened .
another year and lachlan and bessie came home , two children that obviously did not belong to this family , their pale complexions standing out from a mile away but the thalmans thought this was just a sign of their generosity . they showcased their family like it was a set of awards or trophies , their pride seeming commendable if you tried not to think about it too long . lachlan and bessie were flung into the pool of the talented and forced to thrive but luckily , they had no issues there . each of them blessed with a personality that could make anyone gasp at times .
adulthood approached and kellan remained close with his siblings ( but of course always believing himself to be the most talented , quietly encouraged by his parents ) . his families connections led him to opportunities that others could not have accessed but he told himself this was all because of his wonderful boundless talents ! by his early twenties he was making gallery showcases and piecing together films based on his visions , able to hold the attention of any room or pitch any bizarre idea and someone would always be on his side encouraging him . kellan's visions were often confusing , leaving people mind boggled but too afraid to call him out as talentless . his friends often took his side if critics dared insult him ... you see , he had became somewhat of an urban legend ... his work was so bad that it had to be good , right ? you just couldn't tell him that .
