Tuesday's female celebrity of the day is Dakota Johnson. I think I saw her in something years ago and thought "oh, she's hot, but I'll probably never see her again" then just didn't think about her much. I do that sometimes. But I saw her new Calvin Klein advert and yeah, I definitely should have paid more attention because that was a very sexy Sexy Advert. So I like her now and it's about damn time.
i was expecting some namivivi crumbs but woah i got a whole feast god bless
thinking about judge anderson and how badly i wanna be her little b*tch 😖
> casually drops "i have two mothers" while explaining her core character motivation > no confused or weird reaction just "it's nice that you have two moms"
based af backstory thank you horse girl anime

Need I say more?
The fact is the mass consolidation of wikis and fan sites into single sites was basically a trap to force those communities to deal with the eventual enshittification of the platform that absorbed them. Some of us had the foresight and hands to see this coming and avoid this, but others are now trying to escape and stand on their own at last. The UESP isn't alone, Indie Wiki Buddy has a pretty good list (and extension to help you find them).
Are there any other independent wikis/fan communities that you care about still out there? We'd love to hear about them.
Fucking THANK YOU. I hate Fandom, it owns everything and it's all garbage and I'm so so prepared to complain about it.
Check out the sonic wiki on Fandom, without adblock. Here, banner ad at the top, another ad to the right side, and then there's the autoplay video ad in the center. Aside from ads, there's the enormous sidebar to the left, and a popup window right next to it.
After the autoplay ad finishes, there's another autoplay video, a promo vid for their site (usually an interview, or a video about how well one of their other pages is doing)
Scrolling down only causes the promo vid to move to the corner. The video ad also moves to the corner if you scroll while its playing.
If you close the sidebar, close the popup tab, and close the promo vid, it finally looks normal.
Now, compare that to the some other fan owned wikis.
First, UESP. One ad at the top, and another at the bottom with a semitransparent banner that you can x out of to close the ad.
The transformers wiki. One ad at the top, one on the left side. Everything else is directly related to the site.
And now the JoJo wiki. One ad above the welcome message. Another on the left side. And an unobtrusive announcement slideshow. That's it.
Im so glad this is here, so I dont have to death with this Fandom bullshit when im watching a show and want to remind myself of some basic info lol
Reblogging for risking life and limb actually visiting Fandom without an ad blocker.
Interviewing the people behind the 30-year-old Unofficial Elder Scrolls Pages.
Some of the main people behind the UESP were interviewed by Ars Technica. We appreciate the opportunity to tell our story, and seeing that people care about what we've built and are still trying to build.
