Anyone else a bit weird when it comes to music? I mean, you could be listening to a full playlist and a song just stops you in your tracks, or makes you grin like an idiot; or make you choke up a bit?

I think thats whats so incredible about music is its power to make you feel something powerful no matter what the emotion in an instant! Brings you back to a memory whether good, bad or ugly... or can be apart of making a new one! I dont think that’s weird at all! Did a certain song do this for you recently?

It’s day one in Bayview and I don’t want to touch one single box. They’re staring at me, begging for me to crack them open and put the stuff away but I don’t want to. What I want is for someone to tell me what the hottest spots in town are so I can go exploring. Tell me what your favorite place is in town and why it’s your favorite, because if I just wonder off with no direction what so ever I’m bound to get lost and no one wants that.

Well, I think that after a big move the perfect spot to hit is Lilly’s Lagoon, because thats a great spa here in town and I think everyone deserves a bit of pampering as they get settled into a new place. Also, Sweet Tooth, which is where you can get a super yummy treat to commemorate the occasion! Welcome, Jen!

The sun is always the best, isn’t it? I love winter and wrapping up warm but I’m ready for the summer months now. Apparently they have a getaway, during summer, here in town which I’m quite excited for too. It’s not until April, please, shoot ideas my way, otherwise I’ll end up doing nothing. Recipe testing? That’s awesome. What kind of recipe is it? You’re sweet, thank you. Nice to meet you Minka. I don’t think we ever have, but it’s nice to meet you now. I’m Maisie. How are you?

Winter has never been my favorite but I do love the fall a lot! The leaves, the apples, the plaid.. so dreamy. Yes! I have been on two and they were both a lot of fun! April hm? Well, I mean there is always karaoke! Thats always a lot of fun! But I’m also old, Maisie, and I think that staying at home with a carrot cake I dont have to share sounds like the epitome of a good birthday! I had a few different ones that I got out of a friends cookbook. I love to cook in my spare time. I had some recipes for some salmon ( my ultimate fave) and different ways to use avocado! Tried it in brownies... do not recommend. Its really nice to meet you, too, Maise! I’m doing well, a bit jet lagged as we just arrived home from Ireland this afternoon, but good! How about yourself?

Oh god. I don’t know that I could possibly list them all. I definitely know that Thailand was great. I’d like to go back one day when I’m not going to end up having to come home because I’m sick and pregnant.  Ireland is incredible. I filmed there last year a bit.  We spent some time in Prague as well in recent years. It’s all pretty great.  I think it definitely does all depend on the service. I try my best to not get dependent but I definitely do those thing.  Potty training is a process but it’s nice.  I am free tomorrow.  I think that we could definitely do brunch and see what other trouble we can get into before you jet off.

Thailand! I’ve never been but that is definitely a bucket list place for sure. We loved Ireland, the castle, the cliffs... stunning. How lucky to be able to film there; I’m sure you got a much better feel of the people and culture doing that. Prague would be another one I’d love to venture in. Nothing beats a homemade meal in my opinion but I definitely like the convenience of some of those services on days I just cant. Or you know, dont wanna! Thats one of those things that intimidates me about having kids, to be honest. But, if we ever are in that position I know whose door I would knock on. Thank you so much for the brunch date and the chats and well, just being you in general. It was really nice to catch up with you, sweetness. Let’s do it again soon.

you’re so funny. i’m not super sure, but i’m going to say that counts as portion control! it really is, super refreshing too. i kinda’ feel like it was just what my head needed. i’m sure you did some of the organizing, though, right? putting things where you wanted them to be? for me, that’s often the harder part. i’m so indecisive. welcome back, though! 

Well, then I’m going to stick with it! Agreed, sometimes a new space or new place is just what we need. Once the weather is warmer I know I looked forward to walking the beach and hanging down by the docks, the ocean is my favorite spot around here. Oh yeah,  there are definitely certain things that I asked to hold off on so I could sort them my own particular way - which is basically the kitchen. My happy place. I love to kind of sort things on the floor how I want it to look on a wall or a drawer and it makes it easier to play with and move around and then when Im happy with it voila! In ( or up) it goes!

Why haven’t I thought about massages earlier? It could have been such a good treat. Our Planet is a very good series. So stunning, and smart. It awares you of the dangers and the beauty of this world. Same here! It’s so nice to see things we don’t have anymore. It’s even better when you watch it with someone because there’s always a related story you can share. My favorite thing from the eighties or the nineties? My Gameboy!

Oh man, I wish there was a time when I wasnt thinking about massages? Honestly, they are my most favorite form of self care! Absolutely, and it always amazes me the process that goes into capturing some of those incredible shots. I just am in awe at what they are able to get on film! Yes, true! And sometimes their memories spark ones that I had forgotten. Gameboy, solid choice. Were you super fancy and have one of those connecting cables so you could play with a friend?

I am a huge fan of Atlanta, we actually filmed some of Fast and The Furious here so it feels like home in someways to me.  Everyone is so nice and the history of the city is so evident.  From what DJ said it was faster than anyone expected, he was coming into work on the first day when he got a call from Lauren to call Cora whom told him the news.  We actually worked that day cause he knew Rocky would have not wanted anything else, yet we knew we needed to give him sometime to grieve.  What project will that be here in town? 

Aw, yeah! I love when a place starts to feel like home away from home. I think it makes filming and being away easier in some ways. I love Piedmont Park the most, its one of the prettiest parks I’ve ever seen in a city! Oh man, my heart goes out to him. Thats a lot, and I feel for him. Has filming gone smooth otherwise? Im going to help direct Back Home. I’ve kind of been dipping my toe into behind the camera stuff and love it!

Nope, not weird at all, because I will join you in doing the same exact thing. I’m probably far too caring about all things cheese. Absolutely! Like I love a good box of chocolates but give me a cheese board with fresh baked French baguette? I’ll weep and pledge eternal love. I do know Kit and I will be going to the Valentine’s Day Gala that’s happening, and probably slip in a few cheeky present for him as well. What about you? Any plans? Oh yes! That’s what we absolutely should do. Quest for the best cake ever. Plus I’m never one to turn down a bit of baking! Surrounded in cake and frosting sounds like the ultimate dream. Like you’ve reached the ultimate form, no where to go up from there. 

Well, the big question is: Did you get that cheeseboard for Valentines? I hope you were spoiled! Mmm, yes,  bread. My other love language. And the bigger the loaf, the more in love you are I think is how the saying goes, or at least that’s what we can say! How was the gala? I’m sad we missed it but our travel plans over lapped. We were in Ireland and just got home today actually, but it was a lovely trip! That does sound like heaven - fluffy clouds of frosting, soft pillows of cake... when are you around? I’m in town for a bit now!

That is an excellent point. Did you enjoy your night? We had a great time with a little Oscar viewing party at home which was a lot of fun - your dress was stunning and so different! I’m sorry you didnt take home the win this year, but just lemme know where we have to go to acquire that oscar? I’ll pack us snacks.  She really was - maybe a tad bit on the wild side, but I loved that about her! You have anything that you’re working on currently?

For the past month or so, I’ve been slacking at making an effort to go to the gym. Mainly because I’ve been running around like a mad lad putting the finishing touches on my album, gearing up for tour in a few months, plus making arrangements to get settled in Bayview. Part of me hates myself for not paying the movers a little extra to do the brunt of the rearranging of the furniture. But at the same time, I had my own personal gym by lifting bookshelves and dragging dressers up a flight of stairs. So I’m assuming that by the time I’m finished and finally get settled, I’m going to be just about as ripped as Dwayne Johnson. @townofbayview​

When life gets busy, the gym can definitely fall by the wayside but hey, too true that you rocking around with getting yourself moved in totally counts as exercise! Just you know, throw some squats in there and basically its full body. Welcome to Bayview, Niall, I’m Minka!

So, I had the coolest opportunity to get featured on my friend Sam Smith’s new album title track To Die For (it’s breathtaking, by the way, go check it out). Now, this was predominantly because going through the studio would’ve been too difficult so we had to re-record some dialogue from Donnie Darko, but I’m gonna need someone to get me off my high horse before I go through my midlife crisis and decide to start a band. Or, on the flip side, who wants to join said band? I’m thinking we need a drummer, bass player and maybe possibly a kazoo interpreter. I listened to it as soon as you mentioned it and wow, it is really beautiful. Their voice is just, so so stunning. And you were great, too, of course. I dunno, I kinda support this band? It’s like ikea furniture but worse, I’m in my spare room – of what’s going to be the new nursery – surrounded by furniture parts, baby clothes, baby things and I’m just lost. I swear they’re multiplying. I turn around and there’s another box of baby clothes that I have no bloody clue where they came from. Now I’m trying to put together all this furniture, since the workers got the room all set up as far as paint, wallpaper, the such. Figured how hard could it be? These instructions might as well be in Greek. Or maybe I made the stupid mistake of opening everything and now the dresser parts are co-mingling with the crib parts. Is needing a drink while putting together a nursery a thing because it’s not even noon and I’m pretty much at that level. 

I mean, I think pausing and taking a drink break sounds like a good idea? Then revisiting and trying to tackle one thing at a time. Maybe take out everything that doesn’t need to be in the room to give you some space and clarity? I know I work best when things are in order. And just look at that little section where it should list the pieces that said furniture should come with. Then build the first one and see whats left? Surely that means the rest would go toward the next thing.... Unless they come with spares then I’m just as lost, my friend, and I apologize. But you got this! And when Seb and I are back in the states we’d be happy to lend a hand. And you can tell me more terrible truths about Game of Thrones plots while we work.

I promised myself I wouldn’t procrastinate too hard when arriving to Bayview, and I did a good job for the most part. I’m about halfway through it, but then I decided that I deserved a break so I started scrolling through Netflix, only to find a documentary by the name of ‘Don’t F*ck With Kittens’. The title in itself already had me hooked, but after finishing it, I may be confined to my bed for another two days until I sort my feelings out about the story. It was an interesting one with a satisfying ending, I’ll give you that much. Anyway, my name’s Emmy. Enough about me, how are you doing?

Oh man, I haven’t seen that one yet, but I’ve heard its... intense. Is that a fair thing to say about it? Also, trust me, you aren’t alone in getting sucked into the abyss that is Netflix, but hey, after all that work you deserve a break! I’m doing great, thank you! Headed home from Ireland tomorrow and can’t wait to see my puppers.
