Indie Write #2

What I think is gonna challenge me the most this senior year is how uncertain I am with certain things, like where I wanna go when I get older, and even what I wanna go to college for.Even though I don’t like the thought of it, cleaning up relaxes me and kinda allows my mind to “reset”. 

One thing I wanna change about my way of thinking is how I always doubt myself and my writing, which keeps me from continuing what I was doing and then when I finally do it, I get surprised and a little annoyed with myself at how easy it actually was.I love wearing dear and light colors depending on my mood, and interestingly I have a lot of dark and neutral colors even though my favorite color is pink.

I love a lot of things.And I often express this verbally no matter where I am, so naturally some people think I’m too nice or ditzy, but really to me, finding small things to love about my life is what keeps me positive.

Indie Write #1

I explore my life and the world around me in a community of writers by reacting to things that are important to me.A Lot of Aziza Barnes poems speak to me, one in particular is called I Could Ask, But I Think They Use Tweezers, which is about how someone very close to her was killed while trying to get some food at a mcdonalds, or something of that sort.One thing that strikes me with this poem is how she described the cause of his death and how tragically simple it is because he would’ve been alive if it weren’t for the fact that the surgeon(s) had to use tweezers to remove the cloth from the wound first.I’m not that familiar with different styles of poetry but I want to create poetry that’s the closest to myself,though I would say that diction and metaphors interest me the most.

It’s upsetting seeing how little the world knows of the struggles amongst the lgbtq community. The world needs to be more aware and in touch with these things in order for change to happen.

This study goes in depth of the suicidal rates between homosexuals and heterosexuals. Also the different suicidal rates between genders. It’s important to know about these things in order to understand and hopefully change the future. Everyone has a future and they deserve to be able to see that future. No one should feel worthless enough to the point that they feel that it would be better if they should take their own lives.

I think this really shows how its important to support the lgbtq+ community and just be a decent person overall.

The perks of being a wallflower and transcending genre of “typical teen movies”

David Denby discusses the “teen movie genre” in High School Confidential:Notes on Teen Movies where he analyzing the popular tropes of these movies and how they translate into real life.He claims that “…the entire genre, which combines self pity and ultimate vindication,might be called “Portrait of the Filmmaker as a Young Nerd” which explains these tropes of the “Popular kids” being hated but not at the same time, and how the “Unsuspected heroines” flip the script.

 Unlike many of these movies that he mentioned, The perks of being a Wallflower brings something different to the table in terms of portrayals of teenage life in the media.Charlie is not your average heroine, he is one who is saved and in turn saves others but still has a piece of himself that’s missing.Rather than the heroine being the outcast who’s bullied by other “cliques” No one pays attention to him.He’s not someone marked as “ “weird” and outwardly unnattractive, or but is just simply there, a freshman trying to make friends but somehow is unable to,until he decides to sit next to two seniors at a football game.Charlie is someone who does not “flip the script” for anyone or for himself.

why prince is original- when it was little prince seemed like a ethereal being to me.Other people have felt the same way but is prince really original? I think he is. He won tons of awards that prove this like the award he won for the film purple rain, the academy award for best original song score. Prince is definately a person who has been a influencer to other people and their music.

I love makeup but I dont like how people criticize how other people do their makeup and how many girls are indirectly forced to adhere to standards they shouldn’t. for example girls who are transgender, girls of color, and elderly women are the most susceptible to being forced to cover up aspects about themselves that is considered “imperfect”, like big, wide noses with contour, wrinkles, and softening their facial structures. all of these things contradict what people say is the real reason for wearing makeup, which is self expression. I think that there are many aspects of makeup that do involve creativity like sf makeup, and cosplay makeup which involve a lot of dexterity and along with molding which is seen in sculpting.Makeup that involves color theory and coordination has the ability to be creative and involves things many artists and painters have to involve in their works.

this is high art to me because it shows the culture of afro mexican children in guanajuato in 1910 and how they dressed. i think their clothes look really pretty and i wonder why they chose to pose that way.
