Mulder driving be like: loves long highway drives, only one hand on the wheel, left elbow propped up on the car window, spits sunflower seed shells out open window, sings and bops along to old rock (Elvis), listens to late night radio (conspiracy theories, baseball commentary AND cheesy call-in relationship advice stations; he pretends to scoff at the latter), never tips gas station owners more than eleven cents, food wrappers everywhere, a scented pine thing when Scully is tagging along, gets lonely and talks to himself when she doesn’t, turns down the music on long drives with Scully so she can nap (keeps a blanket in the back seat so he can cover her in winter), rarely uses the car boot after Scully tells him about Duane Barry, long legs = sore knees

Scully driving be like: Road Rage, hates getting stuck in traffic, two hands on the wheel, terrible at parking, no sense of direction but gets snappy if you tell her to pull over and look at a map, likes to drive in silence so she can Think™ (going over x files cases, thinking about Mulder, Reflecting on her “life” “choices”), sometimes listens to evening news (often too depressing so she turns it off), prefers to be a passenger when Mulder is with her (he likes driving, and she likes keeping him company), loves quietly driving down desert highways at sunset with him, keeps sunflower seeds for him in the glove compartment, has a bit of ptsd about car boots because of Duane Barry so she stores everything in the back seat (including a first aid kit), little legs too short to reach the pedals
