Everything about this is on point. The coat. The boots. The cuffed jeans. His big smile. The ridiculous stare at the end.
He looks good.

Happiest Anniversary, David & Patrick!
w e d d i n g l o o k s
Happy anniversary to these two.
This morning, Patrick gets up early, because he always does. The sun is just peeking through the trees and the breeze through the open window is cool, even though the days are warm. It will be fall soon and he puts on his slippers before kissing the only part of David he can see beneath the duvet. David mumbles in reply, wrapping the covers more tightly around himself until only a few strands of dark hair are visible. In the kitchen, Patrick starts the coffee and mixes the pancake batter-with chocolate chips, because it’s their anniversary.
When the pancakes are ready, Patrick will carry them upstairs, even though David says that having pancakes in bed is simply asking for a disaster to befall the Egyptian cotton sheets that he picked out when they visited Alexis in June. Patrick just laughs at him and gives him a sticky kiss-a proper one this time-that makes David’s face scrunch up because he loves all of Patrick’s kisses, even the syrupy ones that are obviously incorrect.
After all the pancakes are gone and Patrick has teased David some more and the sheets get sticky after all, they go to work. And it’s just another day, because David believes that anniversaries are for the two of them and not something that the whole town should be involved in, even though Stevie shows up with an anniversary gift-which turns out to be a promise to come over for dinner tomorrow night, which is more of a gift than either of them will admit and Roland stops in to remind them of the play-by-play of their wedding day as if they weren’t there or had maybe forgotten.
Finally, the day ends and they go out for dinner-to the cafe, like they always do, and they have the mozzarella sticks (like they always do) and David kisses Patrick in the car at the end of the night, sitting in the driveway of their cottage.
“Do you ever think?” David says, thinking about all of the things that could have happened or not happened that could have kept him from being here, in this moment.
“Nope,” Patrick replies. “Not once.”
Coming in September!
No Mountain High, No Valley Low
June 1905.
Patrick has been taking tourists on pack trips into the Canadian Rockies for five years when David steps onto his ranch and changes his life. Meanwhile, David can’t believe Alexis tricked him into riding horses and sleeping in a tent, but meeting Patrick almost makes up for it.
A life in the mountains sounds like a nightmare to David and Patrick has never dreamed of going back to the city. But if they want a future together, one—or both of them—will have to give up everything.
