Do you need ideas, motivation, or someone to sit in your doc / watch your screenshare to stop you getting distracted? Do you want to share your WIPs for feedback or hype? Or maybe you’re looking to help others with these things?
If so, hop into the cosy crime discord server on Wednesday 1st July to join our Septembleford community day!
We’re also planning on playing Gartic Phone writing-only mode for inspiration at around 6:30pm BST, which is always fun (and often unhinged gjshfjd)
Check out the cosy crime community on Discord – hang out with 61 other members and enjoy free voice and text chat.
do the people voting on this know that he canonically did pay child support and payed for marianne’s very expensive schooling? that was a very important thing mentioned several times in the daughter of autolycus. also, marianne is in that photo <3
i rlly hope father brown commit to their bit about having the weirdest timeline ever and make sullivan and isabel celebrate a one year wedding anniversary at the same time as clearly stating it is still 1955
Who is your favourite Father Brown secondary character? THE FINAL
Sister Boniface
Marianne Delacroix
Harold "Blind 'Arry" Slow
Violet Goodfellow
Father Lindsey
Uncle Mirth
Valerie Mallory
Voting ended onMay 30
Here's the final poll! I had planned on including the three characters who had gotten the most votes in each of the two preliminary polls; since poll two had two characters with the same number of votes in third place, I thought it was fair to include them both in the final.
I'm planning on making a poll to choose the fandom's favourite secondary character, and I'd like you all to help me gather all the names!
For the purpose of this poll, we will define "secondary character" as any Father Brown character who has appeared at least twice in the course of the show, excluding main and recurring characters like Father Brown, the Inspectors, Bunty and lady F, etc. This is a chance to make the less known characters of our favourite show shine!
I’m going to tag a few fandom members just to give this post a little traction, I hope you guys don’t mind. @kembleford1953 @bisidneycarter @sidneycarter @feliciamontagues
Welcome to the second year of Septembleford — now with break days, badges, and more alt prompts! I’m even earlier with the prompt list this year to give y’all as long as possible to prepare :)
If you've got any questions, please check out the FAQ. And feel free to reach out to me if that doesn't help or you need further clarification on anything!
Have fun, and happy creating ✨✨

HOW TO JOIN
Create a fanwork for any prompts that catch your attention. Alt prompts can be used if you don’t like / don’t have inspo for one of the main prompts
Post each work on the relevant day in September (1st for ‘new’, 2nd for ‘shock’, etc)
On Tumblr, tag your works with #septembleford and #septembleford2026 (without a space)
On AO3, add your work to the collection by typing septembleford2026 into the ‘post to collections’ bar on the work creation page
Sundays are break days, which don't have specific prompts. You could use them to catch up with other people's Septembleford works, reply to comments on your own works, share one of your older works, or create something for an alt prompt
RULES
All works need to be related to Father Brown. This is primarily a BBC Father Brown event, but other versions are welcome too!
Any type of fanwork is allowed — fic, art, gifs, or anything else
AI generated content is NOT allowed
You can do as many or as few prompts as you want — no pressure to complete every single day
The day & prompt must be somewhere visible on your work. On Tumblr, anywhere on the post is fine. On AO3, it can be in the title / chapter name, the summary, or the notes at the start

Just caught probably the earliest ever reference to Mrs. Clam from the Sister Boniface Mysteries in my Father Brown rewatch.
We never see this character, but discussing the investigation with Inspector Mallory in S06e06, Mrs. McCarthy mentions a "Vera Clam" who works at the post office and is the "most terrible gossip."--all of which correspond directly with the character that we later see in the spinoff show.
So I like to think that Vera Clam got tired of all the murders that happened in Kembleford and eventually moved to Great Slaughter--only to find that murders happen nearly as frequently there and this time, she herself will have to assist with solving them.
