I have a few reasons why other people, more specifically those of European heritage, can worship Egyptian Gods:

1. Ancient Egypt, as it has been previously stated, was not a closed society and shared deities with their neighbors.

2. Egyptians gave up their deities and took up Christianity and later Islam. They chiselled out the image of the Netjeru in temples because they condemned Them. This erasing continues to this day with Daesh attempting to destroy ancient monuments.

3. Europeans have preserved ancient Egyptian artifacts and texts for a couple of centuries. They rediscovered many ancient sites and were able to translate and understand the forgotten Egyptian language. Much of what we know today about ancient Egypt is because of the work of Europeans. While the first egyptologists were fairly biased, they were pioneers of their field and we wouldn’t be where we are today without them.

4. It’s none of your goddamn business who people worship.

If you have a problem with non-Egyptians worshipping the Netjeru, I suggest you take it up with the deities who called us in the first place.

Think about how the conditions from which great discovery has traditionally been produced have been with people will all of their needs already met (ie: the idle rich) so they could spent their time studying for literally the hell of it while the peoples they employed or enslaved (depending) or even just stole the resources/land/HEALTH (bc bringing your filthy “havent washed my hands in 3 months at sea” as onto foreign territory is just the perfect way to destroy a communities immune systems) from in their colonies had to work just to survive in the new political and social landscape that was thrust upon them.

1) You can believe whatever you want, but people have the right to criticize you on those beliefs. I also notice how you worded the temple’s practices into a euphemism. The practice in question is excluding transgender individuals which is pretty much the definition of transphobia. A temple can certainly choose to do this. It’s completely legal to do it, but these beliefs and private business practices can also be transphobic and morally wrong.

This…. is so long and not okay. I’ve read all of link 1, and now I know that it is worth the read, and I will probably read the other two. I’m posting because, despite not being Kemetic I have a lot of close friends in that community, they were some of the first ones to help me when I joined tumblr.

I’ve seen these people (The @ thetwistedrope, @sjwsutekh, @theheartroad and I’m assuming smarmy is @ smarmykemeticpagan) say they stand for people’s rights, make call out blogs, and support social justice. Then I see this. I believe all but sjwsutekh on that above list identify as non-binary; that in no way excuses what I’ll showcase next.

For more reference if you read any of the links, I know of Hrafnblod and he is not on tumblr. According to Kemetic friends who are on multiple Kemetic discords I asked, Cheshirepierrot is @ cheshirepierrot   , Cerebulon is @ accounterofhearts , Cinder is @ heofspeckledplumage  , and others only make a comment or two, at least in the first link.

Never, ever, let anyone demand that you out yourself as trans. Never let anyone demand you out yourself as LGBT+, in any way for any reason. You are not obligated to come out. You are not obligated to be made uncomfortable for who you are because “social justice” activist demand it of you. I’ve had experiences when I outed myself or been told to, as gay and deeply regretted it because it ended very badly. No one can tell me when I should out myself. It is the person’s decision and the person alone. This includes the person being out as LGBT+ but talking about it still scares them or makes them uncomfortable, so they choose not to. This also includes scenarios where someone may be comfortable being out with friends but not out at their UU church. They are not a moral failure.

Y'all talking about echo chambers when the problem is that there is no recourse for civility against people dehumanizing others, which I believe you have both done on several occasions. I’m not shocked by the sentiments expressed just extremely tired that this is the end point of every one of these conversations: civility, politeness, echo chamber, etc.

It is not the duty of an oppressed people to be kind or nice. It is not the duty of those willing to fight alongside of those oppressed people to be willing to listen to dissenting opinions about that oppression.

It is your duty to not be fascist pieces of shit. It is your duty to give a shit about your fellow human beings and their experiences instead of metaphorically sticking your fingers in your ears and humming over what is being said because it upsets your status quo.
