“I thought kings were only in stories”
“Of course not, who would rule the countries otherwise? Kings are as real as Queens are.
“Not all people do, some of them don’t live better than kings”
“Then allow me to rephrase myself; better than the kings of my time.”
“Are the people of this century aware that they live better than KINGS?”

“Can you please keep it down, I just got him to sleep.”
“I’m sorry, Lola, I just had to see if it were really you. Isn’t he just getting more and more handsome by the day?”

’Last thing I remember is getting chased by the Red Devil, now I’m in a super small building with poor-looking people who smell like burnt cheese – OMG, is this hell?’
“POOR looking people? You must find it unfortunate this red devil didn’t catch you then.”
“It’s a beautiful country. Why not Florence? No I’ve never traveled outside of Verona, except for now of course.”
“I imagine Florence is riddled with the Medici family, one of them is quite enough for me. The only time I have ever really traveled from Scotland was to France, new places can certainly bring great adventures. Do you remember how you came to be here?”
“I’ll always try to be the best I can for you.” A new start, a start far from their previous home, far from their previous memories. Yes this was all he could hope for. A start where people didn’t know he was a bastard and didn’t know Kenna as the former King’s mistress. A start where they could just be them and have no worries. “It has been a very long time. While you might need a reminder I’m sure my hands need a reminder of how my wife feels, to be able to remember what she feels like when I’m off doing some other silly task.”
Looking at him now felt as though she was seeing him in this was or the first time again. There were butterflies in her stomach, a smile tugging at the corners of her lips, as her fingers moved to brush against the stubble covering his jawline. “I assure you, this time I make it my personal aim to ensure that my husband’s entire being misses me while he is away, for I shall not lose him again. He’s all mine,” she said softly, the twinkle returning to her eyes as her fingers thread through his dark hair. “He should make it clear that I am all his too.”
“I try to be the best I can be for you. Even though we have practiced, who’s to say a little more practice wont hurt.” He never thought that the day would come when he would fall in love with a mistress of his fathers, yet here he stood in love with the lady named Kenna. “I had to be sure.” He said softly. “Well tell me, my dear, have you still forgotten every man who ever touched you or flirted with you?”
“You needn’t try, you’re wonderful as you are.” Perhaps this would be good for them. If they were no longer in France then Francis was no longer the King, Bash would no longer need to leave for hours or days and ride into possible danger. Call her selfish but Kenna quite liked the idea if she would be able to remember the feel of being in her husband’s arms once again. “It has been so long, you see... I may need a reminder of what it is like to be with my husband. To have him hold me through the night once more.”
>“I will father this child and I will raise it as my own because I love you. And when the time comes I will be overjoyed for you to carry my children.” He was determined to give Kenna’s child the best he could since he didn’t have the best even if he was the kings favorite. And he couldn’t wait for the day to come when they’d have their own little ones. “Well one coldn’t be too sure, I had to know. No if you cry this time I’d hope it wouldn’t be in fear. I’m perfectly fine with that though I have things in mind that can make up for lost time.”
“You’re such a wonderful man, Bash... We will have children together, I promise. I mean it isn’t as though we haven’t practiced.” It may take them time, but Kenna was lucky that Bash had even spoken with her. In the past Kenna had gone for dukes, lords, even a king, yet here she was married to a king’s bastard and he was what she wanted. It surprised even her how happy she was with him. “Don’t be silly, you gave it to me, of course I kept it safe. I do like the way you think, sometimes. ...I’m intrigued, making of for lost time should be of the highest of priorities after all.”
“A ripped dress is easy to fix.”
“But it still isn’t good as new, especially if something is split.”
“It’s a power I have, besides I’m also the guardian of winter and this is kinda normal for me. Why do you seem shocked?”
“....Are you trying to tell me that you are a witch of sorts? Where I come from witches are burnt.”
